I have the same problem with Nokia Lumia 1520. It stays hanged when choosing the phone. and the similar log output on mtp-detect. But there is one thing i found out. When i removed cd card (64 GB) from the phone it started to work as expected. The same happened on copying file. [Bug 728953] Re: Nautilus hangs after copying a file on a sftp server
I used command line ftp and sftp on 11.04 server edition (was the same with ver 10 then i upgraded it to 11.04). Tried to download from remote server. After some time of downloading system hangs. In sftp case it takes ~100% of CPU, in ftp case ~1%, but it hangs. Same behaviour with wget and some other programs, which works with internet for longer time. Logs says, that service blocked for more than 120sec.. Cannot kill the process, cannot reboot, cannot do anything. just can reboot from Windows server, under which it is installed. This is production server.
