[Bug 798414] Re: update-initramfs should produce a more helpful error message when there isn't enough free space--or provide an automatic tool for removal of old files

2018-08-11 Thread Tex Arcana
I just ran into this bug, tried a suggestion from here
(https://askubuntu.com/questions/89710/how-do-i-free-up-more-space-in-
boot) which resulted in multiple errors, and me being sent here.

It seems to me that this should be taken care of automatically by the
kernel with the upgrading process.

Terminal output of the above suggested method:

[Bug 1175539] Re: texmaker hangs on message Process started when trying to build a .tex document in Ubuntu 13.04

2013-05-02 Thread Olympus TeX
- This report speaks about Texmaker 4.0.1 packages which are not furnished by
Ubuntu or Debian!
- I've tested these packages from the Texmaker official site : there are not
hang with pdflatex or strange bugs. This is this report which is very
strange (fake report but real advertisement for an other latex editor)

[Bug 1040090] [NEW] Fails to parse CPAN HTML

2012-08-22 Thread tex
Public bug reported:

The parsing of the fetched CPAN HTML is broken. CPAN seems to have
swichted to compressed HTML with less newlines recently while the
perlbrew code is relying heavily on those newlines being present for
parsing the HTML. Please consider to following: - use the machine-
readable list at http://www.cpan.org/MIRRORED.B Y for mirror selection -
try to avoid using HTML parsing in other places and use machine-readable
sources (if possible) - fix the HTML parsing if machine readable sources
are not available

[Bug 670873] Re: TexMakerX package for Ubuntu

2010-11-04 Thread Olympus TeX
Texmakerx is a buggy (just take a look at the bug tracker) and unstable fork of
the original Texmaker LaTeX editor. This fork is based on a buggy and
unmaintained library (QCodeEdit). This fork uses intentionally almost the same
name, the same logo and even the same version number to make confusion with the
original program (which also provides interactive spell checking!!).
Of course, forking is a right and can be a good thing, but using intentionally
the same name and the same logo is not very compliant with the open sources
rules.

[Bug 557018] [NEW] harddrive clicking and loadcycles increase fast in ubuntu 10.4 beta 1

2010-04-06 Thread Tex Bandrew
Public bug reported:

first of im a linux newbie, so i may explain this wrong.

I think this may be the same bug that has been marked as fixed about a
year ago (bug 59695). The problem occurs when the harddrive is idle. I
can hear it click periodically (15 - 30 sec in between) and the SMART
load/unload cycle count rise by about 10-15 every minute (its on 241019
now, so i suspect its still not resolved in Ubuntu 9.10, which i was
running before)

My harddrive is a Samsung MP0804H and i have disabled harddrive spindown
in the power management.

I have never and do not experience this problem in Windows XP, so i find
it unlikely its a (pending) hardware failure.

2009-02-19 Thread tex
If you are on MSN:

Which IM software is used by the other people? My experiences are the
new MSN Messenger (2009 or what) could not recognize pictures from
Pidgin and vice versa.

Solution is that suppose your friends to use Ubuntu ;)

[Bug 121157] Re: Dataloss on fat32 partition when windows is in hibernation mode

2008-10-01 Thread tex
I did recently have the very same problem. I used to dual-boot a
Notebook with Ubuntu and Windows XP while Windows XP was often in
hibernate mode. While I don't think this is a bug in Ubuntu but rather a
bug/feature in Windows it is still a very important issue.

[Bug 242281] Re: Webpage bounces after FF window is resized in Ubuntu Hardy Heron

2008-09-22 Thread Tex
I had FF bounce on me just today and I am not running on Ubuntu or any
Linux when it happened. I am running FF 3.0.1 on Windows XP. I guess
XP means Xtra Problems.

The bouncing I saw was like what was in the youtube video but strangely,
my bouncing stopped when the youtube page was being viewed. It did
start up again but I can't seem to find a cause and effect relationship.
I have resized and it sometimes makes no difference and sometimes stops
the bouncing.

I don't know if this helps or not but I run with many tabs open and when
FF is in bounce-mode, all the tabs show the bouncing. It makes
clicking on a link a little tricky.
