[Bug 194214] Re: Keys get stuck down

2010-05-17 Thread Theodore Book
This bug has re-appeared in Lucid. It seems to correspond to high CPU
usage. Beyond that, I am not an expert on these things, but am happy to
help if possible.

** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
   Status: Fix Released = Confirmed

Thanks for the workaround! A fix would be great, though.

Here it is:

Comments on bug #124406 seem to support my guess that this is a kernel
 bug (starting from:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/124406/comments/3). And that it
was fixed in some version and has come back in some other version:

[Bug 34501] Re: touchpad lockup/drag

2008-03-07 Thread Theodore Book
As I mentioned earlier, I experience this bug, which always appears
together with the keyboard bug #194214
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/194214). In
my case, the bug appears when I activate the Broadcom 43xx firmware in
the restricted drivers dialog, and goes away when I disable it. Has
anyone else experienced these two bugs together? PS: The consensus on
the 194214 bug seems to be that it is a kernel problem - it seems like
these could be two manifestations of the same thing.

[Bug 194214] Re: Keys get stuck down

2008-03-05 Thread Theodore Book
In response to Tuxfan's comment, I am still using Gutsy, and have the
bug. As I mentioned in one of the bugs now marked as a duplicate, the
bug appeared when I upgraded to Gutsy, and is associated with the use of
the Broadcom 43xx firmware support through the restricted drivers
manager. When the firmware is enabled, I experience the bug, when it is
disabled, I do not.

[Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat (Feisty, Gutsy)

2008-02-29 Thread Theodore Book
After several months, I can say that this bug has not reappeared since I
disabled the Broadcom 43xx firmware. Have others noticed that
connection? Should this bug be associated with that package?

[Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat (Feisty, Gutsy)

2008-01-09 Thread Theodore Book
In order to fix the mouse bug, I removed the Broadcom 43xx firmware.
This fixed the both that problem and this one (although it cost me
wireless) I think using ndiswrapper in place of the 43xx firmware
cutter might solve the problem. Does anyone else find the same
connection?

[Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat (Feisty, Gutsy)

2008-01-08 Thread Theodore Book
Is there any chance that we will get a fix / workaround that doesn't
involve installing an alpha kernel that might be incompatible with other
parts of the OS? I am hesitant to try the Hardy kernel trick.

[Bug 28648] Re: Slow movement regression of synaptics touchpad on v0.14.3+seriouslythistime

2007-11-16 Thread Theodore Book
The workaround with the following options did seem to fix most of the
problem:

Option MinSpeed 0.3
Option MaxSpeed 0.6
Option AccelFactor 0.0002

[Bug 28648] Input problems on Gutsy Upgrade

2007-11-16 Thread Theodore Book
Upon upgrading to gutsy, I had similar problems - the mouse cursor jumps
around at times as though acceleration were set much too high; the
scroll on the touch pad no longer works; selecting by tapping on the
touchpad (eg. to drag) no longer works. At times there seem to be other
strange effects. Definitely not it just works. I will try the
workarounds suggested here.

[Bug 28648] More notes

2007-11-16 Thread Theodore Book
Sorry to put so many notes onto the bug, but I had a few other
(unfortunate) observations. With the new settings (as before) the
pointer occasionally hangs for a few seconds, or jerks wildly. Also,
occasionally, and without any clear reason, it sometimes switches from
being extremely responsive to being very slow. I know it sounds like a
hardware problem, but since it began when I switched to gutsy, I am
assuming it is software.

the same drivers before the upgrade, however.

[Bug 33721] Re: freeciv-client-xaw3d: sound and fonts missing

2006-12-17 Thread Theodore Book
The GTK client (freeciv-client-gtk) at least finds the fonts, and loads
properly. However, it still reports:

Cannot find sound spec-file stdsounds.
1: To get sound you need to download a sound set!
1: Get sound sets from ftp://ftp.freeciv.org/freeciv/contrib/sounds/sets.
1: Will continue with disabled sounds.
