[Bug 123550] Cpu always around 50% without nothing using it
Public bug reported: This could have something to do with the following bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/28433 When I use top to see my processes, my cpu is always about 45~60%, despites the scaling mode selected or even the frequency. I'm able to successfully control both. In any of them, cpu keeps at 45%~60%. Also, system values are at about 50%. No process opened is using that much cpu. With this, my load averages are way too high and the laptop seems like a toaster heating. I have to force it to be at 800mhz, the lowest value available, in order to keep the fan controlled.. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cpu always around 50% without nothing using it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123550 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 62413] Re: Black screen with a ATI graphic card
The x700 doesn't work with the ATI open source driver yet. So you must use vesa as generic driver or the proprietary fglrx driver from ATI/AMD, which has 3d support. The problem is that, the default configuration, brings the unsopported driver, which leads to the blank monitor. You must always edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and change the driver to vesa/fglrx, in order make it work(fglrx may not be available! apt-get install xorg- driver-fglrx for it to work). -- Black screen with a ATI graphic card https://launchpad.net/bugs/62413 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
