[Bug 653010] [NEW] Eclipse looks ugly in Linux

2010-10-01 Thread Tiago Sousa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eclipse

As said, Eclipse (any version) looks damn ugly in Ubuntu (any version).
Not only that, it also becomes unusable in laptops since it has so many empty
spaces, leaving close to no space to the actual programming environment.

[Bug 285860] Re: No AHCI support

2009-02-24 Thread Tiago Sousa
Lupine, maybe you've misread my report

1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
everytime I've booted, I was sent to initramfs
2. the behavior you expected, and
I've obviously expect a normal boot
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible)
well, I was sent to initramfs

Helping managing bug reports is a great job, really dependable on the
community, but we cannot mark as invalid or incomplete reports that actually,
despites their size, fully describe the problem.

Anyway, the problem has already been solved for me, I haven't reported
it, since Bokkie also noticed it. Maybe it's already corrected, since he
was using 8.04 and some kernel update fixed it here. I guess it's safe
to close the report.

2008-10-19 Thread Tiago Sousa
Public bug reported:

I've tried the linux-backport-modules-2.6.24-21 for my kernel, and
indeed the device appears, but I'm not able to connect (maybe because
it's wpa personal 2?).

I'm having kernel panics on ssh transfers for a long time. This should

[Bug 205108] [NEW] Alsa driver emu10k1 currupted

2008-03-22 Thread Tiago Sousa
Public bug reported:

I'm not able to get sound from a sound blaster live, that should use the
driver emu10k1.

The driver is not loaded, so the card is not available, but it is show
with lspci.

When trying to manually load the driver:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe snd-emu10k1
[sudo] password for tiagoboldt:
FATAL: Error inserting snd_emu10k1
(/lib/modules/2.6.24-12-generic/ubuntu/sound/alsa-driver/pci/emu10k1/snd-emu10k1.ko):
 Invalid argument
FATAL: Error running install command for snd_emu10k1

Also, during the boot process I get a message:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dmesg | grep emu10k1
[ 40.215639] snd_emu10k1: `' invalid for parameter `index'

This is bad indeed, since sound is really needed in that computer.

Help would be appreciated.

And I guess that it's a bit more usable now. So I guess it's ok to close

[Bug 123550] Cpu always around 50% without nothing using it

2007-07-02 Thread Tiago Sousa
Public bug reported:

This could have something to do with the following bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/28433

When I use top to see my processes, my cpu is always about 45~60%,
despites the scaling mode selected or even the frequency. I'm able to
successfully control both. In any of them, cpu keeps at 45%~60%. Also,
system values are at about 50%. No process opened is using that much
cpu.

With this, my load averages are way too high and the laptop seems like a
toaster heating. I have to force it to be at 800mhz, the lowest value
available, in order to keep the fan controlled..

[Bug 89678] Re: Eclipse do not use the default java machine

2007-04-18 Thread Tiago Sousa
Yes, you can obviously do that, improving the speed and decreasing the
memory used.

Anyway, that is not the point, I just think it should use the default
java machine, selected through update-alternatives. Java-6 doesn't need
to be a dependency, but, if installed, and if it is selected as the
default java machine, then it should be automatically used.

[Bug 89678] Eclipse do not use the default java machine

2007-03-04 Thread Tiago Sousa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eclipse

The launcher for eclipse searches for the java machines available. Sun's
java, which is way faster than java-gcj is not being used, which causes
some problems while using the IDE, for example, the cdt auto-complete
takes about 10seconds on a decent machine with gcj and less than
2seconds with sun's java. I haven't found any option in the program to
select the vm, so I tried to sudo update-alternatives --config java to
select java1.6 from sun. Only then I've noticed that only the launcher
selects which vm to use. Shouldn't the user be able to select the vm??

[Bug 62413] Re: Black screen with a ATI graphic card

2007-02-25 Thread Tiago Sousa
The x700 doesn't work with the ATI open source driver yet. So you must
use vesa as generic driver or the proprietary fglrx driver from ATI/AMD,
which has 3d support. The problem is that, the default configuration,
brings the unsopported driver, which leads to the blank monitor. You
must always edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and change the driver to vesa/fglrx,
in order make it work(fglrx may not be available! apt-get install xorg-
driver-fglrx for it to work).
