[Bug 1946094] Re: VMs crash when updating systemd

2021-10-12 Thread Tim Ritberg
I think, that is not a problem with a service, but xl process.
I do not know, how to simulate an obsolete xl.

I restated xen.service on a Ubuntu 16 and 20, that was no problem.

[Bug 1927270] Re: binutils 2.36 causes problems with DKMS

2021-07-03 Thread Tim Ritberg
I got a problem with Vbox itself:

"Effective UID is not root (euid=1000 egid=100 uid=1000 gid=100) (rc=-10)
Please try reinstalling VirtualBox.
where: SUPR3HardenedMain what: 2 VERR_PERMISSION_DENIED (-10) - Permission

and "NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)"

So I removed 6.1.22-dfsg-2~ubuntu1.21.04.1 and install stock Vbox with a
patchfile...

Xubuntu 16.04 with Kernel 4.2 works fine.

It seems, that make menuconfig in Kernel 4.4 tries to guess the config
and missed some important kernel options, right?

cloning method.

Some function to test for free disk space is failing:

I look into the script ...and found that one parameter is empty.

And some folders on that disk are not readable. Ls or thunar stuck then.
I had to reboot and do a forced fsck on this partition.

[Bug 1462788] [NEW] Initrd is not gzip archive

2015-06-07 Thread Tim Ritberg
Public bug reported:

The seems to be an error in the intel_microcode hook for initramfs update.
This breaks the initrd:

# file /boot/initrd.img-3.19.0-18-generic
/boot/initrd.img-3.19.0-18-generic: ASCII cpio archive (SVR4 with no CRC)

This is not the expected gzip file. I am not sure now, whether my system
is bootable.

Edit /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/intel_microcode. Put an exit right
after the comment header.
This will disable the hook and generate a gzipped cpio archive.

Xubuntu 15.04
initramfs-tools 0.103ubuntu15

I also checked an AMD-maschine. No Problems with the initrd.

[Bug 1457974] Re: Coloured triangles on screen

My computer is not buggy and this Bios is working well since Xubuntu 10!

This an Ubuntu bug! I discovered, that a fresh generated xorg.conf
solves my problem. In Xubuntu 14.10 I didn't need a xorg.conf, but now.
Somehow Ubuntu didn't load the right driver module for my graphics card.
