Re: [Bug 896485] Re: upgrading with apt-get because the upgrader gui errored out.

2011-12-19 Thread Tim Temple
Synaptic Package Manager still errors out and won't work. I've tried:
1. uninstall reinstall
2. upgrade
3. chasing down the package list

The error is always:
E: The value 'natty-updates' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such
a release is not available in the sources
E: _cache-open() failed. please report

My version is oneida. all the packages are oneida.

I have discovered muon package manager which works.
I have also discovered aptitude package manager which works.
Now this is not the only problem I have with this copy of ubuntu 11:10.
I think I busted things by pushing the 'off' button when it totally
froze up. I didn't know about sysreq s, u, b.

[Bug 475704] Re: Karmic desktop livecd constant kernel ACPI exception messages: AE_LIMIT, Returned by Handler for [SystemIO] 20090521 evregion-424

2011-06-11 Thread Tim Temple
Compaq Presario desktop using ubuntu 10.04 LTS with no ACPI installed.

Same problem with messages.log maxed out. The continual logging bogs the
system. If I edit the startup to include acpi=off or pci=noacpi, the error
stops logging, but NAT won't connect to the internet via eth0.
Repeating log entries:
Jun 11 10:25:51 timt-desktop kernel: [ 1308.823339] ACPI Error: Illegal I/O
port address/length above 64K: 0x00400020/4 (20090903/hwvalid-154)

while evaluating GPE method [_L09] (20090903/evgpe-568)

Same problem with Fedora and Red Hat. Red Hat says they fixed it by Truncate
I/O addresses to 16 bits for Windows compatibility.
Fedora says their source code fix is here:

[Bug 77147] lbreakout2 -- mouse loses control of paddle

2006-12-25 Thread Tim Temple
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lbreakout2

While playing Lbreakout2, activity loads up on the screen. Suddenly the
cursor shows up and the paddle won't move. Quickly, the mouse resumes
control of the paddle. It happens around once a screen. Just have
someone play it while someone is watching for the cursor arrow to
suddenly show up.
