[Bug 1866136] [NEW] Calibre overrides default application settings

2020-03-04 Thread Timmie
Public bug reported:

I have Kubuntu 20.04. installed.

After having Calibre installed and running a few recent update cycles,
Calibre sets itself as default app:

1) in Firefox it suddenly becomes the default programme to open PDF documents
2) on the system it becomes the default programme to open PDF documents in
specific siutations (forgot)
3) it replaces firefox in the favourites area of the Application Launcher.

I am very sure that I did not configure any of the above to be that way.

[Bug 359902] Re: ubuntu creash reporting reveals sensitive data

2020-03-01 Thread Timmie
I am currently testing 20.04.

If there is no option to edit & remove private data prior to sending, I
have little interest in submitting further reports.

Why can the program not present the user with the files & info that is
going to be submitted?

Firefox.
But the same happens when printing from Thunderbird.

I think, the default shall be either the document title (website, email,
office) or file name.

But the program simply uses: output.pdf

Is there a configuration file to change that?

Is there not a code testing mechnism that prevens such things?

2013-08-13 Thread Timmie
@Ubuntu Kernel Team:
How does is happen that the driver gets broken if it was working in earlier
kernel versions without any troubles?
(I know that it's not an Ubuntu fault... But how could pre-release QA be
imporved here?)

[Bug 1210746] [NEW] newsgroup headers deleted

2013-08-10 Thread Timmie
Public bug reported:

The last official update of this programm totally spoiled my access /
ability to download gmane newsgroup messages.

Yet one more sign that updates start start to comprimise functionality
just like the faulty drivers after a kernel update...

[Bug 680239] Re: 1969:2062 ar8152 v2.0 fast ethernet nic stops working

2013-07-16 Thread Timmie
I added this workaround:

sudo su root
crontab -e

* * * * * /opt/bin/fix_atheros-AR8152_ethernet.sh >> /tmp/fix_atheros-
ethernet_atl1c-reload-log 2>&1 # reload the Atheros Ethernet driver
module, see:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/680239/comments/8

cat /opt/bin/fix_atheros-AR8152_ethernet.sh

 cat /opt/bin/fix_atheros-AR8152_ethernet.sh
# reload the Atheros Ethernet driver module,
# see: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/680239/comments/8
sudo rmmod atl1c
sudo modprobe atl1c

This at least prevents me from the need to pull out & push back the
cable or alike.

I wish to see this fixed in the kernel

[Bug 1157687] Re: Upgrade to raring fails in prerm

2013-05-09 Thread Timmie
here's a workaround:
http://stackoverflow.com/a/16299628

If you are using virtualenvwrapper then you can recreate the virtualenv
on top of the existing one (with no environment currently active):

mkvirtualenv

which should pull in the latest (upgraded) python version from the
system and fix any mismatch errors.

All no methods leads to success!
  What is the problem?
  How do I debug?

[Bug 1156216] Re: activation of wifi freezes system (Broadcom 4313)

2013-03-18 Thread Timmie
With the mainline kernel (3.9), the system does not freeze, but I cannot
activate wifi:

rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
1: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

What shall I do next?

[Bug 1020759] Re: /run/media is an unnecessary divergence from the FHS

2012-10-28 Thread Timmie
Hello,
how can I prevent /mount//

and instead get

/mount/ ?

All backupscripts on external drives rely on this link.

e.g. beckintime uses a direct link to a folder.

Thanks.

lease add the quicklist

http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/s/statsmodels/statsmodels_0.4.0-2/changelog

Removed python-rpy from Recommends to avoid pulling Rtillery with
with the default installation of statsmodels and pandas, since rpy
apparently
is mentioned only in some legacy code
   * Added patch up_versioncomparison_with_rc to "cherry-pick" 45ee896 for
robust version comparison with rc versions of numpy/scipy

Debian now also uses a new package name:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/python-statsmodels
