[Bug 1479267] Re: Brother MFC-L8650CDW cuts top of the page

2015-09-04 Thread Tomin
Hi. Those versions of the package doesn't seem to exist on server. I
can't download either binary or source packages of them using apt-get.

I tried to fetch source packages with bzr but I can't seem to get those
versions. I can get 9.10~dfsg-0ubuntu10 with bzr branch
ubuntu:trusty/ghostscript but how can I get versions 9.10~dfsg-
0ubuntu10.1 and 9.10~dfsg-0ubuntu10.2?

2015-09-04 Thread Tomin
Figured out how to fetch them. bzr branch lp:ubuntu/trusty-
proposed/ghostscript

But I'm not able to reproduce this anymore. I don't know why but 9.10
~dfsg-0ubuntu10.3 (built from source package) and 9.10~dfsg-0ubuntu10.4
(from security) work both just fine. I guess this bug is invalid now.

[Bug 1479267] Re: Brother MFC-L8650CDW cuts top of the page

2015-07-30 Thread Tomin
I tried downgrading some of the packages upgraded recently. I downgraded
ghostsciprt, ghostscript-x and libgs9 but that didn't help. I tried to
downgrade libcupsfilters{,-dev}, cups-filters but I couldn't because an
old cups-filters-core-drivers was not available! Therefore I don't know
if cups-filters was the problem. Is there anything that I could try?

We ***must*** have this printer working. At the moment we can't really
print ***anything*** because ***everything*** is shifted by 3 cm on the
page and the top of the page is not printed.

It is very annoying when something is broken by an upgrade.

[Bug 1479267] [NEW] Brother MFC-L8650CDW cuts top of the page

2015-07-29 Thread Tomin
Public bug reported:

I've installed Brother's drivers from
http://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=gblang=enprod=mfcl8650cdw_eu_cnos=128

They've worked fine until now. For some reason even if I try to print
test page (the page with Ubuntu logos) the top of the page is not
printed. It looks like it's printed outside of the page as if the page
contents are shifted up. Printer's self test page prints just fine.

We really need this printer to do our work.

I don't know if cups is the right package for this bug but feel free to
correct it.

What I've tried already:
Reinstalling the Brother drivers (the same version as newer wasn't available).
After that reinstalling the printer on printer settings.

[Bug 1258780] [NEW] Can't unlock screen

2013-12-07 Thread Tomin
Public bug reported:

I can't unlock screen after locking it. It's black and when I press a
key or move mouse it shows my background and then turns black again. I
can pass lock screen by killing gnome-screensaver in virtual console. I
use Nvidia drivers (319.60-0ubuntu1) with GeForce GTX460.

This problem has been around for some weeks now, I think. I haven't used
this computer too much lately.

[Bug 1020769] Re: Standard user can't change own empty password

2013-08-05 Thread Tomin
This bug is still affecting Ubuntu Precise (only version I've tested).

Also, I think it should (and maybe would) remove the user from
nopasswdlogin group, because otherwise user can still login without
password (the behaviour Sergio Barjola noticed). passwd command doesn't
(obviously) do that.

BIOS settings for internal parallel port are:
Parallel Port Address378
Parallel Port ModeECP
ECP Mode DMA ChannelDMA3

But I'm using an external card because there is no physical port on the
motherboard.
$ lspci |grep -i parallel

The printer works fine on Windows XP.

[Bug 339752] Re: CONFIG_PARPORT_PC_FIFO=y causes slow/stuttering printing through parallel port

2013-05-31 Thread Tomin
Will this be fixed in Precise (12.04)? In which version? I'm using
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS at work and we are using HP LaserJet 2100. We are going
to use LTS version and therefore we need this to be fixed in the 3.2
kernel.

Currently 3.2.0-45 configs don't seem to have the patch:
$ grep PARPORT_PC_FIFO /boot/config-3.2.0-45-generic
CONFIG_PARPORT_PC_FIFO=y

Thank you.

[Bug 1082389] [NEW] nvidia-experimental loads wrong kernel module

2012-11-23 Thread Tomin
Public bug reported:

I installed nvidia-experimental-304 and tried it. Then I installed
nvidia-experimental-310 and when I rebooted X failed to start.
Kernel module and Xorg driver were different versions. For some reason kernel
tries to load 304 driver.

I installed both modules using jockey-gtk, so this bug may be related to
it instead of nvidia-experimental-310. Anyway the I got X running when I
removed nvidia-experimental-304. Now I'm using 310 version.

This has never been an issue in Oneiric and Precise. I don't know, if it
still happens in Natty, because it's outdated (it's no longer in use).
Feel free to mark this to something that means that this bug is not
relevant anymore.

[Bug 852775] [NEW] Realtek ALC887-VD, Microphone background noise

2011-09-17 Thread Tomin
Public bug reported:

My computers sound input has a lot of background noise. If I don't use
Mic Boost it can't be heard but neither can my own voice. If I add Mic
Boost my voice can be heard but it is also very noisy. Other people can
just barely understand me in Skype (also true if I try to test it with
other programs). Microphone works well in Windows Vista.

[Bug 820826] [NEW] r8169 stops working after network usage

2011-08-04 Thread Tomin
Public bug reported:

Sometimes my motherboard's network chip (Realtek RTL8111/8168B) stops
working after some (heavy) network usage. This occurs less when surfing
through 1 Mb/s ADSL, but more when I'm using LAN (100 Mb/s). Also when
ifconfig shows always that all RX packages are dropped. Network seems to
work fine after cold boot (actually even stand by power must be
disconnected) but otherwise it may (or may not) happen.

[Bug 790615] Re: Ordi - Kernel Panic: BUG: Scheduling while atomic

2011-06-11 Thread Tomin
I've run Linux 2.6.39.1 for a week now and I haven't experienced a
single panic so it seems that the problem is fixed in 2.6.39 or it's due
to some patch in Natty's kernel.

[Bug 790615] [NEW] Ordi - Kernel Panic: BUG: Scheduling while atomic

2011-05-31 Thread Tomin
Public bug reported:

I get a kernel panic at least once a week with new Ordi Enduro 4565T and Ubuntu
11.04. With 10.04 this didn't happen.
We have several laptops like this and all tested ones panic with same message
when they are running latest Ubuntu (natty, 11.04). This laptop seems to be the
same as Clevo's W765TH.

I've included image from screen when kernel panic occures. Although this
one doesn't have exacly same messages as the latest panics show (for
example BUG: Scheduling while atomic isn't there). Those images might be
on N8, so I'll post them later.
