I do not have trusty-proposed enabled and my libnl-* packages are
already in the 3.2.21-1 version, I rebooted several times, and yet the
network-service won't start, I just keep getting this message on syslog:
init: network-manager main process killed by SEGV signal.

I can't complete the command because it opens the links browser (the
only thing I have on this EC2 instance) and it can't login properly,
apparently.

[Bug 1046088] Re: No Brightness Control on ASUS G75VW Notbook (304.43)

2012-12-06 Thread Tonny Kohar
Same here ASUS G75VW-BBK series with Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and NVIDIA driver 304,
- with/without grub acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor (not working)
- with/without xorg.conf Option “registryDwords” “EnableBrightnessControl=1”
(not working)
- combination of above not working as well

However, fn F5-F6 works perfectly in Grub Menu, but not longer work once
Ubuntu login screen (and desktop)

note: xrandr --output LVDS-0 --brightness xx works by manipulating image
sent to the screen, but it does not adjust the real backlight because I
can feel the back of screen lid is warm

workaround: set your desired brightness during grub menu (fn F4-F5 works
perfectly), but you can not change it once your are in login screen (and
desktop), and this does not survive suspend/wake up as well

[Bug 811441] Re: Unable to connect to the system bus: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: Connection refused (oneiric)

2011-10-23 Thread Tonny Hooijer
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 858122 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/858122

#9 did it for me too.
Exept i did not have to create /run and /run/lock

(i) create directories /run and /run/lock,
(ii) move contents of /var/run into /run and /var/lock into /run/lock,
(iii) delete directories /var/run and /var/lock
(iv) create replacement simlinks; e.g. 'ln -s /run /var/run' and 'ln -s
/run/lock /var/lock'

I updated xubuntu 11:04 to 11:10
Now working again, thank you.
