[Bug 1532829] Re: OpenAFS backup fails because of "illegal volume name" *.backup

2016-05-28 Thread Torbjörn Moa
As a quick fix, I downloaded the source package, reversed patch
CVE-2015-6587.patch and rebuilt. This solves the problem for me,
temporarily, but it would be nice to have this fixed properly in the
packages, of course.

[Bug 1532829] Re: OpenAFS backup fails because of "illegal volume name" *.backup

2016-05-26 Thread Torbjörn Moa
I can confirm this. I see it too in OpenAFS 1.6.7-1ubuntu1.1, but it is
not present in e.g. 1.6.7-1ubuntu1~ubuntu12.04.1 on Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS
which I happen to run on my other servers.

[Bug 1452318] Re: Faulty behavior when resuming from suspend

2015-10-07 Thread Torbjörn Moa
I have been running 3.19.0-30 since five days, with the UXA fix removed,
and never seen any problem at all since then. I suspend my laptop many
times per day. Thanks to all who contributed to fix this, it was really
annoying.

[Bug 1354924] Re: Networkmanager does not autoconnect to wireless network

2015-04-27 Thread Torbjörn Moa
The problem seems to have gone away in vivid. I just installed Kubuntu
15.04, and the issue is not there anymore. The WIFI reconnects nicely
after sleep/resume without any tricks. I haven't tested very many
networks yet, though.

This is the same bug as #1408744, #1416375 and some others, although
they refer to other Ubuntu versions. Does anybody know where can I find
a working release of openafs for ubuntu 14.10? It's kind of urgent.

[Bug 996394] Re: package openafs-client 1.6.1-1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2013-05-06 Thread Torbjörn Moa
I have been experiencing the same problem, when upgrading to openafs-
client 1.6.1-1+ubuntu0.1. After some testing I found the reason:

In /var/lib/dpkg/info/openafs-client.config, the statement

read cell < /etc/openafs/ThisCell

croaked, because there was no newline after the cell name in ThisCell.
Thus, you can easily get around the problem by making sure that ThisCell
has a newline (CR) after the cell name.

Hope this helps. It certainly did for me.

[Bug 708612] Re: cups uses more open files and more memory with each printjob

2011-02-25 Thread Torbjörn Moa
Had the same problem. I solved it by doing

apt-get remove libpam-smbpass

I had previously removed winbind altogether, with no avail, so that
seemed not related at all.

[Bug 316156] [NEW] DVD export doesn't work

2009-01-11 Thread Torbjörn Moa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdenlive

Hello,

I'm using kdenlive 0.5.svn20071228-0.0ubuntu3 on Kubuntu 8.10.

When I try to export anything to DVD, the (.vob) file gets created, the
input files are read from the disk and the progress bar starts ticking
until it reaches 99%. Then it stops, indefinitely, as it seems. The
kdenlive_renderer process takes all the CPU, but nothing more happens.
There is no disk activity at all at this stage, and the output (.vob)
file is always empty.

The behaviour is the same, regardless of wether I use the "Export to
DVD" tool under the "File" menu, or if I use the "Render timeline"
button in the toolbar.

(I used kdenlive the same way under 7.04 (don't remember the kdenlive
version of those days), and there the DVD export worked fine.)

[Bug 154910] acpi-support in conflict with guidance-power-manager

2007-10-20 Thread Torbjörn Moa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

I run Kubuntu 7.10 on a Toshiba laptop.

I noticed that my laptop didn't suspend properly when I closed the lid.
It usually went into 100% CPU usage in the X server.

On the other hand, it suspended OK when doing it from the guidance-
power-manager GUI, or even using the suspend button.

I finally traced the problem to be that /etc/acpi/lid.sh wasn't told to
back off, as the suspend is handled by guidance-power-manager. And, in
turn, this is due to the fact that /usr/share/acpi-support/policy-funcs
isn't aware about guidance-power-manager. The following patch shows what
I did to solve it:

if run by root.)

Of course: if you run kpowersave you will not be bitten by any of the
above problems.

It took me some time to figure this one out, I hope it can help someone
else too.
