[Bug 909870] [NEW] unity and dash incorrect behaviour
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1) Click on the dash Home icon 2) Instead of using the dash, click on one of the icons on the sidebar of an application that is already running 3) The application moves to the foreground but the title bar is not usable and only becomes so when you either: a) Click on the application window b) Click on the application icon in the sidebar What I would expect to happen is that the application moves to the foreground and the title bar is usable immediately. Hope this makes sense. Have not tried with applications on the sidebar which aren't running. [Bug 766612] Re: nfs mount points do not appear in the unity launcher and there is no way to add them manually
From my point of view, I would be happy if such mount points were bookmarks for Nautilus and appeared in Unity as other mount points, CDs and external drives currently do. It may be that there needs to be a distinction between local and network drives in order to avoid clutter. SMB shares don't display in Unity either but this isn't as important to me as I use such shares on a temporary basis. However, it would be nice to be able to manually pin (frequently used) items to the launcher. [Bug 441338] Re: CD drive not eject after cd inserted them becomes unusable karmic
I also have the exact issue described. One thing I've noticed is that it affects burning .iso images in Brasero. I can do the following: 1) Insert blank cd 2) Blank CD icon appears on desktop 3) Try to burn .iso image to CD 4) Image fails to burn and disk fails to eject. 5) Eject will always work from the desktop but hardware eject does not. 6) Repeat the process and the image will never burn correctly. However if prior to this process, I insert a playable DVD and then eject it, the image will consistently burn. I will check whether the icon disappears from the desktop in step 4) above as I am not in a position to test at the moment. -- CD drive not eject after cd inserted them becomes unusable karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/441338 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Having just burned another ISO image, I think I may have spotted a possible connection. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rdesktop Steps to reproduce this bug: Connect to a Windows server with Terminal Server Client and disconnect producing an error dialog. This error dialog itself may have been produced by another bug. However, the dialog box is a default one. Problems: 1) The Default size of the dialog box isn't wide enough to accomodate the text: Terminal Server Client Error 2) If a user clicks the details dropdown to show information and then clicks it again to hide information, the dialog box is not correctly resized. 3) The bold text is too generic. An error has occurred is superflous when combined with the accompanying warning symbol. Suggestions: 1) Either increase the horizontal size of the dialog box or preferably remove it and show the information as below. 2) Correctly resize the dialog button in the case mentioned above or see below. 3) Consider having the actual error text accompany the warning symbol 4) Merge the countdown timer for reconnect with the Connect button in order to improve the UI and conserve space. [Bug 399821] Re: [i845] karmic fails to initialise display on boot. 2.6.31-3 + drm + Intel 845G
Hi, Just to clarify: The mainline kernel works fine. I can test the latest mainline but it won't be for a day or so. None of the Ubuntu kernels work since rc2. All patches which I've applied have been to the Ubuntu kernel source (by downloading the linux- source package). I hope this is the right way of doing this. I've tried the patch I mentioned and also those suggested on upstream bug 22980 at comment #7 (although I'm not sure how to apply the third patch as it doesn't seem to be a patch to the kernel source code). All kernels boot correctly if I pass the nomodeset parameter. Thanks, Twig. -- [i845] karmic fails to initialise display on boot. 2.6.31-3 + drm + Intel 845G https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399821 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 399821] Re: [i845] karmic fails to initialise display on boot. 2.6.31-3 + drm + Intel 845G
I had more time than I orginally thought today to do some further testing (and lots of googling) and have made some progress. The mainline 2.6.31 rc3 kernel worked correctly. I can boot the problematic rc3 kernel by passing the nomodeset parameter. If I pass the VGA = ask parameter to the rc2 kernel I get a list of VGA modes. If I do the same thing with the rc3 kernel I get the same list of VGA modes plus a second set of VESA modes (none of which appear to work). That led me to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- vesa/+bug/401214 and I've tried turning debugging on as suggested with: echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/module/drm/parameters/debug Although didn't get any extra output. A little more searching led to a very similar looking bug report: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20115 with a patch attached at comment #50. I'm now at a point where I probably need to learn how to patch a kernel which I won't get chance to do today. However, at least it looks like this has been narrowed down to a problem with KMS. Alternatively, I could be headed in completely the wrong direction as this stuff is a bit over my head. Let me know if there's anything else I can try. I'll post any further results. [Bug 365945] [NEW] screen-profiles refresh causes inability to scroll in ssh session
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: screen-profiles This may not be a genuine bug and it is just a minor annoyance. I have the new screen-profiles package installed and running in Jaunty and set to autorun when I ssh into my machine. I'm using the ubuntu-black profile. When I run a command with a large output and try to scroll up to look at the top of the output, periodically it will jump back to the bottom.
