[Bug 201102] Re: gnome-panel crashes when selecting location without coordinates

2008-04-08 Thread UKThom
Just updated my gnome-panel, and now it's not working/crashing every
time I load up GNOME. I've managed to eek open a terminal (Alt-F2
wasn't working either), and am desperately seeking some guidance. I
will try to remove and reinstall ubuntustudio-desktop and see what
happens...Yikes :(

[Bug 214095] [NEW] gnome-panel crashed with segmentation fault

2008-04-08 Thread UKThom
Public bug reported:

gnome-panel crashed upon update on 8 April 2008

version: Ubuntu Hardy (dev branch)
desktop: Ubuntu Studio
package name: gnome-panel (1:2.22.1-0ubuntu1)

After updating, the panel attempts to load 3x upon restart, and then refuses to
load at all. Other functions are also unusable (Alt-F2) as well.
I have removed the panel 2x and re-installed 2x, with no luck.

Any further information can be obtained by contacting me.

Thanks!

[Bug 209008] [NEW] Inconsistent mount/unmount of iPod

2008-03-29 Thread UKThom
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mount

Hardy Heron 8.04 beta user
Amarok 1.4
Win-formated iPod Nano 4G

This is a bit complicated, so bear with me...

Whenever I turn on the laptop with the iPod connected, I can access the
files on the iPod, however in Amarok, I can no longer connect to the
player. Right after the upgrade from 7.10, I had to re-load my
collection, and adjust the media player settings within Amarok itself.
At first, this worked fine.

Now, however, after properly disconnecting the iPod in Amarok, and
trying to unmount it from my desktop, I'll get one of two things:

a) a warning box Unable to Mount Media: There's probably no media in the
drive - but the icon disappears and all is well

b) a ghost icon that will not allow me to unmount the iPod, and when
clicked, reveals nothing about the contents of the iPod.

Furthermore, in Amarok, I have tried to re-connect to the iPod when I
can access the files on the desktop after having removed it after the
first connection I made after the upgrade, and am unable to re-connect
to the player. In the Media Device settings box, the iPod is not
listed, and when I try to establish the mounting of it, Amarok throws an
error, telling me I can't have two devices of the same name at the same
mount point. I have not tried re-naming the device every time I load
it, but I don't think that's what I should have to do. If I try to auto-
detect the device, Amarok also throws an error concerning whether or not
HAL and DBUS daemons are running.

I have attached a lengthy text file concerning this issue, and for that
I apologize...I just wanted to be thorough.

If there is anymore you need from me to solve this, please let me know.
Thank you VERY MUCH for any help/assistance.

[Bug 150627] Re: ATI display update causes lines to form on screen in Firefox

2007-10-09 Thread UKThom
I have done the update, and am not noticing vertical lines anymore.
However, I am now not able to use my scroll button on my scratchpad - I
posted a question (#14769) and am thinking the two are related - but
only because of the information I saw when I posted all that stuff
above. I could be completely wrong, which wouldn't be out of the
ordinary at all.

Thanks again for all your help!

[Bug 150627] ATI display update causes lines to form on screen in Firefox

2007-10-08 Thread UKThom
Public bug reported:

Upon applying updates for ATI display drivers, my screen now produces
vertical lines while browsing on Firefox. I have an older laptop, with
the ATI Radeon Mobility M6 LY video display card (??). Not sure if it's
Xgl that might be causing the issue, and I've also had a problem with
Advanced Desktop, as well (crashing - already reported).

If you, pleasant bug fixer-person, need more information, please kindly
tell me how to obtain it on my machine, and I will post it here ASAP.

OS: Xubuntu 7.10 Beta
Machine: Gateway 2000 SD4 Laptop (P4 processor)

Many Thanks!

[Bug 148985] Re: package gimp 2.4.0~rc3-1ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/doc/libgimp2.0/README', which is also in package libgimp2.0

2007-10-05 Thread UKThom
The workaround I did was to remove cupsys via apt:

$ sudo apt-get remove cupsys

This removes cupsys and it's dependant packages

Then, if you run an update on your package lists:

$ sudo apt-get update

and follow this up with

$ sudo apt-get install

You should have the updated cupsys packages

Alternatively, after removing cupsys with the command line interface,
you can use Update Manager to obtain the packages you're missing,
including the updated GIMP and loads of other stuff that became updated
at 2200 GMT +1 on the UK servers.

Hope this is helpful.

I'm not able to run the fix, as the package I have is:
