[Bug 982485] Re: [regression] Nvidia 295.40: Unity 3D does not work at all with the new nvidia driver
Evan, As mentioned in #135, you need to enable precise-proposed to get the fix at the moment. This is not an untrusted source, it is an official Ubuntu source. See the following links for more information, and how to enable it: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuUpdates https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed I don't know why this is not in the main repository yet - as most people have had success, and some have had no effect - it hasn't made anything worse for anyone. Someone like Martin Pitt who approved this into -proposed should be able to comment on that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982485 Title: [regression] Nvidia 295.40: Unity 3D does not work at all with the new nvidia driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/982485/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 982485] Re: [regression] Nvidia 295.40: Unity 3D does not work at all with the new nvidia driver
Hi all, For those who have not had success with the fix, I just wanted to mention that the following needs to be done to make sure the new driver is being used: - Log into Unity 2D - Enable precise-proposed - Install nvidia-current-updates - In Additional Drivers settings dialog, enable the updated driver by selecting the version current-updates line and clicking on Activate - Reboot - Choose Unity from the login prompt I just thought it might be useful to re-iterate even though most of these have been mentioned before, as I made the mistake of missing out on some at first. Of course, many of you may have done it already and still not succeeded - this is just in case you didn't follow all the steps.

[Bug 537325] Re: White text on light background in ambiance
I think the light background in the task bar should be changed into a dark one. In its present form, it is quite distracting to see the task bar - it would normally indicate this window is trying to get my attention, when in reality it is already the currently used window. I end up consistently clicking on this only to minimize the window I'm working on. To differentiate current window from the other windows, it may use a different dark shade but it shouldn't be a light one. -- White text on light background in ambiance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/537325 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 444135] [NEW] update-manager did not clean up after dist-upgrade
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager Hello, When upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic, an error appeared during configuration of samba packages. This was normal since I had manually deleted the conf file for samba from /etc at some point and forgot to place it back. I wasn't aware that this would cause problems during the upgrade. However, after failing at this point, the message appeared saying upgrade was not completed successfully. However, except for the 5 samba-related packages, everything was done. update-manager halted at this point and did not complete the remaining two steps: Clean Up Reboot. I rebooted and got into Karmic just fine. I corrected the errors by restoring the samba conf file and running dpkg --configure -a. The problem is that that clean up was never done, and I am left will all the stale packages from Jaunty. I feel that update-manager should have completed all the steps and then gracefully exited with the error message. In this case because of a missing conf file it halted the process abruptly. Log files from /var/log/dist-upgrade are attached. [Bug 335644] Re: Audio replaced with static
One of my recent updates resulted in the same thing. I'm relieved that the solution is to just to raise the PCM volume. I have had this before when I had upgraded to Intrepid, and couldn't find a resolution so did a clean re-install to get sound working again. I was scared I would have to reinstall again. I'm thinking it is a bug that the PCM volume is set to 0 by some updates. Is this assumption correct and will there be a fix for this? While it is easy for me now that I know it, it would be a big pain for others who haven't realized the magic trick. [Bug 211252] Re: Cannot recieve files using bluetooth
Emmet, I'd say the bug is not fully resolved yet. 1 and 3 were the issues, haven't had an issue with 2 myself. For 1, it fails at step F (on my Nokia phone, I get Sending Failed message). For 3, it was failing at step I when I last checked, which was not a long time ago. However, I just tried again and I am able to browse the contents. Don't think there have been any bluetooth-related updates since I last checked, so wonder how it is working now. But good to see atleast some quick way to get the files to my computer from the phone is working now. So now, only 1 is an unresolved issue for me. [Bug 252324] [NEW] Add Crawley to available clock applet locations
Public bug reported: I'm unable to add Crawley (UK) as a location in the World Clock, to display time and weather information. The location is present on weather.com: http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/local/UKXX0816?from=search_city It should be added to the list of locations. I'm running an up-to-date Hardy. Bug #99094 looks similar, but since that's fixed in Hardy, I'm guessing something else triggered this crash.
