[Bug 116900] Re: Firefox's layout.css.dpi (about:config) does nothing

[Bug 116900] Re: Firefox's layout.css.dpi (about:config) does nothing
Found the problem! Compiling Firefox with support for pango (--enable-pango) fixes the problem. Apparently, pango support is only enabled for some localized versions of Firefox in Ubuntu. I know this is a cheap workaround but it solves the problem. Without pango support, the DPI setting has no effect. -- Firefox's layout.css.dpi (about:config) does nothing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116900 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 116900] Firefox's layout.css.dpi (about:config) does nothing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox Ubuntu release: Feisty Fawn 7.04 System: x86 (Intel centrino) Graphic card: ATI Radeon Mobility X600SE Memory: 512MB Installation method: LiveCD Firefox version: latest (2.0.0.3) Problem: It's impossible to change the DPI setting in Firefox. This is giving me headaches because this is the first thing I normally set when I run Firefox for the first time. If I don't, the text appears so small on this tiny laptop LCD. This is really strange, because it does work with the LiveCD. I mean, boot up with the LiveCD, start Firefox, go to about:config and change layout.css.dpi to some random value. Restart Firefox and voila, text is smaller/bigger according to the DPI setting you just set. However, once Feisty is installed, that setting does not work anymore. Maybe Firefox got updated since the release of the LiveCD? But I doubt that it's the problem. Anyway, I can't use this laptop to browse the web without being able to change the layout.css.dpi setting in Firefox. Sure I can zoom the text in, get an extension that will zoom automatically, set a minimum font size, etc but these tricks are just workarounds and most websites do not render correctly when forcing minimum text size for example. Some other sites just ignore it. Please, try to change that setting in your installation and give me some feedback. [Bug 19524] Re: Firefox does not pay attention to GNOME DPI setting
iIt looks like this bug has reverted with Feisty's Firefox (2.0.0.1 +0dfsg-0ubuntu2). Increasing the DPI in gnome-font-preferences (from 130 to 160, down to or 120) affects the UI's fonts, but not the webpage fonts./i This is still true as of today. I didn't know about this bug report so I created another one a few minutes ago: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/116900 Maybe the problem is in firefox-gnome-support? -- Firefox does not pay attention to GNOME DPI setting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/19524 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
