Yes, this is still an issue.

I am still using Ubuntu 8.04. I tried upgrading to Intrepid Ibex and my
system crashed, so I reverted to HH.  I upgraded Firefox, however - now
running 3.0,5.

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When viewing a site, such as google.com, the google image is
choppy/blocky.  This occurs on other websites as well with jpeg's,
bmp's, and png's.  The detail is terrible.  However, when I right-click
and view the image separately, there is no problem.  It's crystal clear.
