I'm having the same problem. Wireless does not automatically connect despite being asked to. Lucid seems to attempt connection when I log in, fails, says disconnected eventually. If I click on the dropdown menu and click the SSID of my wireless router, the connection then works. Tried it -- Ubuntu Karmic finally works out of the box on the HD 3650 radeon! I haven't been able to use the Live CD since Hardy, so this is great. No graphical issues at all when I load up. With the live cd daily jaunty build from yesterday 09-Feb-09, I still get the same grey screen with intermittent flashing black lines. Asus laptop F8Sp with ATI Radeon HD 3650. Seems like the ati driver still doesn't work. Haven't tried vesa yet or the proprietary fglrx (which is the only driver that works well in Intrepid). When Gnome tries to come up, I get odd rainbow-like patterns around the edges of the screen fading into the center (this might be intentional, but I've never seen it in Hardy). Then a blank gray screen appears with intermittently flashing horizontal thin black lines. Hitting Shift-Alt-F1 takes me here to file this bug. I have an ASUS F8 Sp (F8Sp) notebook with ATI Radeon HD 3650 graphics card. Gnome works just fine on this laptop with the proprietary (fglrx) driver in Hardy, but not this new, more Intrepid version. I'm having the same problem with ATI Radeon HD 3650 on ASUS F8Sp notebook, except I get a white screen with intermittent horizontal dark stripes. 64 bit Intrepid, Alpha 5. Driver identified as radeon. Ctrl- Alt-F1 lets me go to command line. Vesa 'safe mode' just crashes to command line without starting the gdm, but no white screen. Vesa seems to identify no valid resolution / frequency combos for this laptop screen. I'm having a similar (?same) issue on an ASUS F8Sp laptop with ATI Radeon HD 3650 running Intrepid Alpha 5 64 bit Live CD. On starting the GDM, I get a gray screen with intermittently flashing horizontal lines. Everything seems to be working except the X, because I can hit Shift- Alt-F1 and drop to a fully functional terminal. I'm attaching the xorg log file. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bluetooth-alsa In Gutsy Server edition and using bluetooth-alsa 0.5cvs20070602, I'm experiencing issues streaming audio from a dongle to an audio receiver / headset device. After quite some time getting things connected and working (it was fairly difficult without a GUI), I get good quality audio for brief periods of time followed by intermittent loss of sound (~2-3 seconds at a time). When I boot into Windows XP using the same dongle (ASUS) and headset and stream music, the problem never occurs. I had the same problem with a previous completely different dongle / headset combination I was using previously. Whether I use the pcm.A2DPD device or the pcm.bluetooth device doesn't seem to matter -- I still get intermittent loss of sound. [Bug 153995] Re: Cannot exit gnome-rdp fullscreen when visual effects are enabled
The workaround described by Andy V works for me -- thanks. I also created a launcher by right-clicking on the desktop and clicking create launcher. Then I put 'rdesktop -g 1024x767 hostname' in the 'command' line and gave it a name. Now I can just click on the icon that this process created, and CTRL-ALT-ENTER actually works.
