[Bug 2061983] [NEW] evince can't be upgraded on noble beta

2024-04-17 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
Public bug reported:

Hi

If I try to perform a full-upgrade to noble beta, dpkg wants to remove
the evince package.

And if I try to only upgrade evince, then dpkg wants to remove inkscape
and gimp (in addition to removing and adding all the t64 lib stuff)

[Bug 1906131] Re: No rule to make target 'scripts/module.lds' while building out-of-tree modules

2020-12-27 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
I had already reported this as bug 1906072 two days before this bug was
opened.

But I guess since this is where the activity happens, someone should
mark my bug as duplicate of this.

[Bug 1871472] [NEW] Please update PPA or release to 440.82

2020-04-07 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
Public bug reported:

NVIDIA just released 440.82 at
https://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/driverResults.aspx/159370/en-uk

Please update https://launchpad.net/~graphics-
drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa or the focal release to match 440.82 :-)

Thank you!

This might also mean that the https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/vulkan-loader and related packages need to be updated to 1.2.135+? I'm
not sure. I'm probably mistaken.

I apologize if this should not be a bug report. Most projects I interact
with use their issue tracker for new features as well.

patches from that PPA - if they work - need to be incorporated into pulseaudio
upstream or the ubuntu repos.

[Bug 655831] Re: update-apt-xapian-index bogs down system

2010-11-17 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
I do not understand the purpose of this piece of software.

It seems that when I found out about it and removed it, the only
functionality I lost was being able to quickly search using the
toolbar in Synaptic?

Surely that's not worth heating up my computer for.
I manage fairly well with Ctrl+F to search (or whatever your hotkey might be.)

Does the new Software Center thingy use it? If it does, I don't see
why it should; the traditional search in Synaptic is just as fast when
you consider that actually redrawing the list view takes just as long as
the actual search.

Further, I don't understand why you need to index metadata on top of
apt, surely apt-cache or whatever has all this information available
somewhere already? This all seems very complicated for absolutely no
gain at all.

There is probably some purpose to it that I can't see. But at least it's
gone from my computer from now on.

[Bug 513554] [NEW] wine git can no longer find the opengl libraries

2010-01-27 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wine

On Lucid

Since the latest round of ia32 lib (I think it was caused by that, at
least) updates in lucid, the WINE git configure script can no longer
find the OpenGL development headers.

This worked at least yesterday. The only relevant package I can remember
updating since it last worked is ia32-libs.

Steps to reproduce;
1. Make sure you have some 3D driver installed and working with all relevant
-dev packages and mesa stuff.
2. git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git ~/wine-git
3. cd wine-git
4. ./configure

Note how it says

configure: WARNING: No OpenGL library found on this system.
OpenGL and Direct3D won't be supported.

While these libraries are clearly present and it was working fine last
night.

** Affects: wine (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 506435] Re: ia32-libs should install libGL.so* in /usr/lib32/mesa

2010-01-17 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
I am just very curious; there has been lots of changes to mesa, nvidia
drivers, xorg, and so forth lately (but no changes to ia32-libs,
though), so I'm wondering if _even while this bug is still unresolved_
(along with bug 506437 and bug 248392), has this issue perhaps been
fixed already by these other updates?

If so then I can finally start updating again with the nvidia driver
packages and such that actually need testing (nvidia-current, etc),
instead of holding back all updates.

If not, I will just have to wait a bit more :)

[Bug 460620] Re: Transmission Version 1.76 is Available

2009-11-04 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
charles, some private trackers ban anything except the latest version of
clients because they consider them still in beta phase.

You have to remember that these trackers are old ones that have been
around to see many transformations in the client swarm, and only a few
clients that they have verified standing the test of time are granted
full supported status.

No matter how stable Transmission is to the developers here, it won't be
called stable by some of the bigger private trackers for another year
or two at the least.

Until that time, it will be flagged as beta, which means anything except the
latest release will be banned automatically by their admins.
I don't know if you're a Transmission developer, but don't take this
personally, it applies to all clients.

In any case I'm not posting because I want to push 1.76 in any way, I
was just simply responding to your comment #9.

[Bug 307791] [NEW] Update Package: nVidia 180.16

2008-12-13 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
Public bug reported:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1873716
VDPAU users, please note that the arguments to VdpDecoderCreate have changed.
Updated VDPAU patches are available.

Release Highlights:

* Added support for the following GPUs:
  o Quadro FX 2700M
  o GeForce 9400M G
  o GeForce 9800 GT
  o GeForce 9800 GT
  o GeForce 8200M G
  o GeForce Go 7700
  o GeForce 9800M GTX
  o GeForce 9800M GT
  o GeForce 9800M GS
  o GeForce 9500 GT
  o GeForce 9700M GT
  o GeForce 9650M GT
  o GeForce 9500 GT
* Fixed a problem with the SDI sync skew controls in nvidia-settings.
* Fixed a problem that caused some SDI applications to hang or crash.
* Fixed an nvidia-settings crash when xorg.conf contains Device and Screen
sections but no ServerLayout section.
* Fixed a problem that caused the Linux OpenGL library to crash when used
inside FreeBSD's Linux emulation layer.
* Updated VDPAU:
o VdpDecoderCreate API has changed incompatibly. All client
applications must be rebuilt because of this change.
o For H.264, require the application to tell VDPAU how many reference
frames to allow. This allows the application to request more than 4 reference
frames. VDPAU should now support level 4.1 reference frame limits on all GPUs
(or very close to this limit). The application now has control over this aspect
of VDPAU's memory usage.
o Fix corruption decoding some H.264 streams on some GPUs.
o Fix a bug that prevented VC-1/WMV3 decode from being allowed on
some GPUs.
o Documentation enhancements and cleanups to vdpau.h.
o Don't paint the color key to presentation queue targets until the
first frame is presented. This should reduce or remove the time the key is
displayed before the presented frame is visible.

[Bug 304773] Re: New beta version, 180.11

2008-12-03 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
Fixed a memory leak problem when the GlyphCache setting is enabled.

Just a FYI, the GlyphCache is apparently enabled by default on 8 and
9-series cards in 180.xx, and the memory leak is apparently quite
severe, making this driver update crucial for people with these cards.

[Bug 304773] Re: New beta version, 180.11

2008-12-03 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
plun, like I said, it's on the 8 and 9 series, not 7600GS (which is part
of the 7 series).

In any case, this could be marked fixed now, Alberto just uploaded
180.11.

[Bug 243539] Re: audacious 1.5.1ubuntu1 segfaults at starting

2008-06-27 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
Seems this is a packaging problem, it's segfaulting because the
audacious-plugins package is not at version 1.5.1 in Universe.

From my conversation with ccr on #audacious on irc.atheme.org:

vhaarr Hey, I just got a segfault with the latest audacious-1.5.1-1ubuntu1,
reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audacious/+bug/243539
vhaarr seems to be related to parsing my playlist, a ubuntu motu person
suggested it was related to the vfs layer, but apparently the report is missing
some symbols
ccr hum
ccr looks more like stack corruption to me
vhaarr (that bug is not reported by me, and not the stacktrace either, but
it's the same thing I'm getting)
vhaarr I made a separate stacktrace myself and was about to post it when I
saw that bug
vhaarr http://pastey.net/90123
vhaarr but without reading through them line by line and comparing, they seem
similar
ccr if you have any third-party plugins installed, such as crossfade, those
need to be recompiled (or removed)
ccr I'd say that most likely this is a case of a binary API incompatible
plugin(s)
vhaarr I have audacious-plugins-1.5.0-1ubuntu3
vhaarr 1.5.1 vs 1.5.0
vhaarr I guess that's the problem, then?
ccr yes
ccr I'm not sure how you managed to install it so?
vhaarr but removing that package would render audacious useless anyway, since
it contains the mp3 support plugin
vhaarr well, the audacious package was upgraded today
vhaarr yesterday they were both on 1.5.0
ccr but not the plugins?
vhaarr no
ccr ehh
ccr well, just wait that the plugins gets updated too
vhaarr
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/intrepid-changes/2008-June/002604.html
ccr in my opinion it's a packaging error, if they allowed core plugins
vhaarr indeed
vhaarr ccr: would it be OK if I copy+pasted this conversation into the bug
report in launchpad?
ccr feel free to

[Bug 102479] [apport] apport-gtk crashed with ImportError in module()

2007-04-03 Thread Vidar Braut Haarr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

I see some other bugs with the same title as the one apport generated
for me on this crash, but since I am unable to see the stack trace of my
own report here in launchpad before submitting, I have really no way of
checking whether or not it is a dupe, so I'm just filing it.

The crash icon is in my systray on boot, and when I click it, apport
crashes, too, so I don't really know what is generating the first
report.

Anyway, have fun with it.
