Same for me here. I am using over glossed and I can't see anything in
the Open-office.org dialogue box, but I changed the theme and it
returned to normal...

This might be right, you should have checked the log file, or what you
can do now is download Splunk it can index all the logs and your problem
becomes a lot easier as it tells you when something happened and what
was it...

Hi
You see there aren't native drivers for your ethernet device, so
one thing you can do is to unplug your modem and then plug it back in
after 5 mins. This worked for me...

If that doesn't work then go to system - preferences - and change all

Could this be a missing gtkrc file under /usr/share/themes/Human/? There
is no gtk-2.0 folder like in Human-Murrine or NewHuman.

But for now: The window decoration looks really nice. I like that blue

Re: [Bug 160311] Re: Window Resize Difficult (Window Border Thickness)

2008-08-17 Thread Vikram
Hello,
I am having a little difficulty understanding your problem, but what I get to
know from your email is  that you are having problems setting up a new monitor
and some other little resizing problems.  You should check your graphic card
and you might have to get a good graphic card to a higher resolution like the
one you are using.  Try ATI 4850 and also check that someone has not messed up
the display settings that are on your monitor buttons, that might help you
getting the borders you want.
Sorry I wasn't able to help much,
Vikram

Subject: [Bug 160311] Re: Window Resize Difficult (Window Border Thickness)

This is a real pain on larger displays (e.g. mine is 1680x1050). It's
also an accessibility issue - those with motor control problems may find
it very hard to position the mouse to drag a window even on smaller
displays such as 1280x1024 17" monitors.

Having switched from KDE, where this is a simple configuration option
and the first thing I set up, I'm really surprised that GNOME doesn't
allow this.  Windows has of course allowed this for a very long time,
certainly Windows 95 if not Windows 3.1.

Installing Emerald is reasonable workaround I suppose but that's hardly
new user friendly - it would be much better if this was configurable.
Having to search for a theme with wider borders is a pain, you might
well end up with a theme you don't like for aesthetic reasons. As
someone said, it's the small things that put you off when you are trying
out Ubuntu for the first time.  (I've used Ubuntu for a few years and
Linux for ages but am setting up Ubuntu for an elderly relative who has
some trouble with precise mouse movements.)

Re: [Bug 99508] Re: Window titlebar displayed not right with compiz enabled

2008-08-17 Thread Vikram
Hey,
I have had some similar problem to this a little while ago. Okay first   of all
I am not a computer geek, but i'll try my
best.  Your envy drivers might not be compatible with the theme you installed.
I prefer NVIDIA and about your screen flashing problem you need to decrease
your screen refreshing rate it is usually set at 60 hertz you need to either
decrease it or increase it, whichever one sovles your problem. After changing
your refreshing rate try to apply your theme agian and reboot your system.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311403  it will tell you that the your
refreshing rate needs to increase or decrease.
If the problem still continues please email me.  I'll be glad to help you. Hope
that helps
Vikram

Subject: [Bug 99508] Re: Window titlebar displayed not right with compiz enabled

My experience: 8.04, nvidia G0 7600. There was no such problem when
"nvidia-glx-new" package was installed via "Hardware Drivers". For some
reason (namely, screen flashing problem) I uninstalled "nvidia-glx-new"
via "Hardware Drivers", installed Envy and let Envy to choose and
install the driver by itself. Now everything else seems OK about the
driver (no flashing yet) but now -for the first time- I have the title
bar issue with all the three human theme variants. If to add: Compiz is
not enabled on my machine as I know far; I mean, I didn't install or
enable Compiz. I don't know exactly what driver Envy installed (some
sort of "new" thing, I know) and what setup changes it performed so
title bar problem showed up. I hope you'll find a solution because I
want my human theme back; it means much more than cosmetics to me.
Regards.
