[Bug 1934992] Re: rsync 3.2.x in Groovy depends on broken libxxhash 0.7.x
Anyone who has an rsync that supports the xxh128 hash using the xxhash 0.7 library did something very bad in their build. An rsync compiled with that library only supports xxh64 & xxh32. Thus, this described mismatch never occurs in a stock rsync (the 128-bit hash was unstable in xxhash 0.7, and thus rsync doesn't use it). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1934992 Title: rsync 3.2.x in Groovy depends on broken libxxhash 0.7.x To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xxhash/+bug/1934992/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 884293] Re: trackpoint middle clicks are often lost
Sorry, I don't use ubuntu (directly) anymore. The requirement for running compiz made it impossible to suspend/resume consistently day after day (it would usually fail withing a day or 2), so was unusable for me (having it close all my apps and exit to the login screen was totally unacceptable). I now use a chromebook with a crouton chroot to get the first acceptable 3d-accelerated linux I've ever used (and I've used both nvidia and amd over the years). ..wayne.. [Bug 884545] [NEW] unity 2D missing the menu panel with stacked monitors
Public bug reported: I'm using the Unity 2D login option on my Lenovo T510 which is configured in the bios to use just the discrete NVidia graphics: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT218 [NVS 3100M] (rev a2) If I configure an external monitor (using nvidia-settings) and put it above or below my laptop's monitor, the panel at the top of the external monitor is missing. This causes issues with the menus for any programs on the external monitor (unless I disable unified menus) and causes problems for applications that are maximized (since they have no titlebar and no unmaximize button). I also note that if I put the external monitor above my laptop's screen, the laptop does is not treated as the main display, even though it is marked as such in the nvidia-settings (unlike normal unity, which places the main interface on the laptop even when the laptop is not the "highest" display). [Bug 884293] [NEW] trackpoint middle clicks are often lost
Public bug reported: The change in bug #554984 (enabling trackpoint scrolling by default) has made middle-clicking very flaky in oneiric. I am using the latest updates of oneiric in a new install. My computer is a Lenovo T510, but since the issue is caused by a new setting in 11-evdev-trackpoint.conf, that shouldn't be relevant. For me, middle-clicking is used all the time (opening browser links, closing tabs, pasting text), and having events silently get ignored is very annoying. The driver often gets in a state where it takes something like 4 middle-clicks for an event to be noticed. I would imagine that the scroll-event logic either has a state-machine bug (since I wasn't touching the "nub") or it needs a higher threshold for movement before it kicks in and disables the middle click event. I tried using gpointing-device-settings to disable trackpoint scrolling, but the effect was only temporary -- a reboot enabled it again, at which point the checkbox in gpointing-device-settings is out of sync with reality. I have worked around the issue by changing the settings in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/11-evdev-trackpoint.conf to disable the EmulateWheel setting (and disable Emulate3Buttons too, since there are 3 buttons). Hopefully the underlying issue can be fixed so that someone can both middle-click consistently and also use that button for trackpoint scrolling. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/884293 Title: trackpoint middle clicks are often lost To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/884293/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 554984] Re: [lucid] enable trackpoint scroll emulation by default
Sadly, this feature makes middle clicking (on things like browser links, etc.) very flaky -- clicks go ignored quite often. I used gpointing- device-settings to turn the feature off, but a reboot had it go enabled once again, and I had to toggle the gpointing-device-settings checkbox back on and then off again to get it disabled. Did the fix for this get hard-wired to ignore the gpointing-device-settings value? Kinda looks that way. I've now modified /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/11-evdev- trackpoint.conf to disable this as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554984 Title: [lucid] enable trackpoint scroll emulation by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/554984/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have a T510, and the nvidia driver loads fine for me (I'm testing the latest Natty). I do have the Display changed in the BIOS to tell the system that I have the nvidia graphics ("Discrete") rather than Optimus. Maybe your BIOS is set to Optimus? However, once I have the nvidia driver going, the information for my displays is not right. [Bug 661450] Re: Support for multiple monitors broken
Fuy: what happens if you logout and back in after adding the second monitor? For me, I had setup my 2nd monitor in a classic session, with my 1920x1200 external monitor to the left of my laptop's 1400x1050 monitor (aligned at the top). I then logged into a unity session, and saw the unity interface on my laptop monitor. However, interacting with the interface showed the pop ups over on the far left, and moving windows made the launcher vanish not when a window was near the launcher, but when it was near the left side of the left screen. I'll attach a screenshot of this as ext-left.png. I have the application menu open, showing (1) its bad position, and (2) that it is blank (I have to mouse over items in the menu to make them appear). I then use the monitor app to position my external monitor to the right of the laptop screen. The unity interface does not move to its proper position at 0,0, and instead stays way over to the right, drawn in its original size and position relative to the original 0,0. I'm attaching this as ext-right.png. I then logout and log back in. At this point, unity is sitting at the normal 0,0 position, and behaves reasonably well, though the blankness in the applications menu persists. [Bug 104432] Re: Glipper makes copy/pasting of images in OpenOffice impossible
Jaunty has glipper 1.0, which is based on their python rewrite of the C source. I just looked at their python code, and it has logic in it to avoid forcing a text value when there is a binary object on the clipboard (which is what my C patch did that they incorporated into the C version). However, it does not adjust the menu to reflect this, so the menu currently lies to you about what will be pasted. I did a simple test of OOwriter: added an image to a page, copied the image, and then pasted it onto another page, and it pasted just fine. I'm curious what your test case was where you saw a failure? One thing you cannot do is to copy a non-text item, close the program that put the item onto the clipboard, and then expect a non-text item to be pasted. When the program that has control of the current clipboard contents goes away, its contents goes away too, and glipper will then restore the most recent text contents it knows about to the clipboard (since it doesn't track binary content -- just avoids replacing it). -- Glipper makes copy/pasting of images in OpenOffice impossible https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104432 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 88987] Re: corrupts the terminal
I haven't seen this in ages, so the newer Ubuntu releases apparently have this fixed. -- corrupts the terminal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88987 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 104432] Re: Glipper makes copy/pasting of images in OpenOffice impossible
My changes made it into the CVS version of glipper (with a couple strange omissions that I need to ask them about). But that does mean that the maintainers of glipper approve of the method used in the patch. -- Glipper makes copy/pasting of images in OpenOffice impossible https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104432 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 104432] Re: Glipper makes copy/pasting of images in OpenOffice impossible
For those wanting to build the package, this command will install the build-dependencies: apt-get build-dep glipper I added a change to the "debian/changelog" to the patch to make it easier to build a new .deb package from the source (and the patch now requires the -p1 option, not -p0). For instance: wget http://opencoder.net/glipper-fixes.patch apt-get source glipper cd glipper-0.95.1 patch -p1 <../glipper-fixes.patch dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b sudo dpkg -i ../glipper_0.95.1-1.1_i386.deb -- Glipper makes copy/pasting of images in OpenOffice impossible https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104432 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 104432] Re: Glipper makes copy/pasting of images in OpenOffice impossible
I have created a patch for glipper 0.95.1 that fixes this problem as several others that I discovered. If anyone is interested, you can grab it here: http://opencoder.net/glipper-fixes.patch It mentions all the fixes at the start of the patch. (I also reported this to the glipper project on sourceforge.) Note that my "quick fix" idea suggested in the previous entry was too simple of a change to fix the problem. The patch file fixes this in a much better way.
This bug is caused by some incorrect logic when the checkClipboard() function calls the processContent() function (both in src/main.c). If the call to gtk_clipboard_wait_for_text() returned a NULL (because the clipboard item could not be changed into plain text), the NULL gets passed to processContent(), and that function resets the clipboard to the last-known text item, obliterating all non-text clipboard items as quickly as they are found. I'll report this item upstream. In the meantime, if a quick fix is desired, the processContent() function could be changed to ignore a NULL newContent arg. That would cause Glipper to ignore all non-text items, with the only downside being that the drop-down menu would show the last-known plain-text item as being current even though no plain-text is available to paste (but that's better than the current behavior). ** Changed in: glipper (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed -- Glipper makes copy/pasting of images in OpenOffice impossible https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104432 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
