[Bug 1307064] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Beta cannot adjust brightness on Lenovo Ideapad Z570

[Bug 1307064] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Beta cannot adjust brightness on Lenovo Ideapad Z570
I appologize for the poorly written original bug report. I was very tired and had been working on this for some time. As mentioned at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Debugging/Backlight, I think that it may be helpful if I include that I do have entries in /sys/class/backlight. I can change brightness by issuing the below command ~$ echo 150 | sudo tee /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1307064 Title: Ubuntu 14.04 Beta cannot adjust brightness on Lenovo Ideapad Z570 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1307064/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1307064] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Beta cannot adjust brightness on Lenovo Ideapad Z570
I think I should elaborate on my previous post. I have 2 entries in /sys/class/backlight acpi_video0 intel_backlight When I use the slider in the brightness applet or the hotkeys to change the brightness, the value of /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0 is changing. This being the case, I believe that if I could point both of those to /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness the problem would be solved. This is where I fall down as I do not know how to do this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1307064 Title: Ubuntu 14.04 Beta cannot adjust brightness on Lenovo Ideapad Z570 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1307064/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1307064] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Beta cannot adjust brightness on Lenovo Ideapad Z570
Problem solved. Tried adding acpi_backlight=vendor to boot parameter. Did not work So I tried the recommendation for Intel HD Graphic Controllers. Created the file /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/80-backlight.conf with below contents as recommended. Section Device Identifier Intel Graphics Driver intel Option AccelMethod sna Option Backlight intel_backlight # use your backlight that works here BusID PCI:0:2:0 EndSection Problem Solved. I am still running the upstream kernel at this time. Will reboot into the final release kernel and report as to whether this works in that kernel as well.

[Bug 577255] Re: No sound from gateway MC78 laptop speakers after resume (headphones work)
I have had some success using the upstream kernel 2.6.34-020634rc7-generic. The headers for this kernel would not install for me (I am a newbie any insight would be appreciated). When I installed this kernel the suspend works exactly as it should. I have sound both before and after resume. If any more information is needed I will be happy to provide. I am now going to do a clean install. When I installed latest release I kept my home partition, but now many of my apps and/or launchers do not work. I will retest after clean install and restoration of backup data (probably tomorrow evening). -- No sound from gateway MC78 laptop speakers after resume (headphones work) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577255 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: I am running 10.04 kernel 2.6.32-22-generic on a Gateway MC7833u. The sound card is an intel HDA IHC9 family. The only problem is that when I suspend the sound will not come out of the laptop speakers. The headphones still work fine, the mixer works fine, the internal microphone works fine. Just no sound from the actual laptop speakers. lspci -vv output: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) Subsystem: Gateway 2000 Device 0704 Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 22 Region 0: Memory at f090 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: access denied Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- No sound from gateway MC78 laptop speakers after resume (headphones work) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577255 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
