@Fabio: We did what you asked months ago, and yet another release (10.10) has come and gone with this bug still a problem. Although confirmed, its importance remains undecided and it has not yet been assigned to anybody. I wish I were a competent coder, but the only way I have to contribute to the Ubuntu community is to give feedback to developers by way of bug reports. [Bug 656631] Re: resume from suspend does not initialize the display on 2.6.35 kernel
I just retested suspend on my system, and it works now. There was a kernel upgrade from 2.6.35-33 to 2.6.35-34 (currently using 2.6.35-22-generic #34-Ubuntu). Of course cpufreq is still stuck at the lowest step (800 Mhz) upon resume... but that is another bug. @doesntcount - have you upgraded to the 2.6.35-34 kernel? I believe this bug is a duplicate of Bug #524956. The upstream bug is https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14667 As I noted in bug 524956, this regression effects more than just fans and temperature sensors. On my machine, it renders the Bluetooth and WiFi kill switches inoperable (resulting in the built-in bluetooth to be permanently off and WiFi to be permanently on). Also, the laptop lid state is not detected. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #14667 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14667 -- [Dell Studio 1537] temperature sensors and fan stop working following suspend/resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/526354 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 524956] Re: Dell Studio 1555 - ACPI thermal sensors do not work after resume
Please note: this bug does not only effect thermal sensors. It effects almost all things that might require ACPI. For example, The keyboard WiFi / Bluetooth/Webcam on/off switches and lid detection buttons also do not work with current (Lucid Beta 1) kernel. I can confirm that reversing commit 6a63b06f3c494cc87eade97f081300bda60acec7 fixes all those issues on my System76 Pangolin (PanP5) when compiling the 2.6.32-9.13 kernel under Karmic. I have not tested the fix in Lucid, but I can't imagine it not working there as well. There is a patch for this problem, but I have not been successful applying it to a 2.6.32 source tree. I believe the patch is for 2.6.33. Perhaps the best solution is to backport that patch to 2.6.32-* (see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14667#c89 ). It seems pretty clear that this bug effects more than just one or two laptop models and needs to be fixed before Lucid becomes final. -- Dell Studio 1555 - ACPI thermal sensors do not work after resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524956 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Well, I had THOUGHT that running with just one CPU defined in VirtualBox was a fix for me, but apparently, it is not. While it is a huge improvement over defining 2 CPU's, once I try to do anything that needs a little horse-power, everything goes down hill. [Bug 455112] Re: VirtualBox performance is much worse when Intel VT-x is enabled
michal: How many virtual CPU's do you have for your VM? Through experimentation, I've just discovered that I can get good performance with VT-x enabled if I set the number of CPU's to 1 on my Core 2 Duo machine (P8700). I was able to set it to 2 CPU's under Jaunty without a problem -- but the performance with it set to 1 CPU in Karmic is excellent, so I don't know if this is a bug or a feature. -- VirtualBox performance is much worse when Intel VT-x is enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/455112 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 456339] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in camel_store_get_folder_info()
This time, evolution didn't crash... it just hung whist fetching messages, requiring me to kill the process (using xkill). Here is the backtrace from that session. The more I watch what is going on, the more I think it has something to do with the evolution-exchange plugin (see bug #456642) since the trouble all seems to occur when accessing my exchange account. I've disabled my exchange account to see if that stops the instability that I've been seeing since the last batch of updates which also included updates to evolution. ** Attachment added: gdb-evolution.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/34118552/gdb-evolution.txt -- evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in camel_store_get_folder_info() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456339 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 92777] Re: Problem installing sl-modem package module not found
Ok, mattsteven's suggestion worked a treat! I downloaded and manually built and installed the package from linmodems (slmodem-2.9.11-20070430). I then installed sl-modem-daemon from the ubuntu feisty repository (2.9.10+2.9.9d+e-pre2-5ubuntu1). It did not work initially, however I noted his comment regarding the Dell Inspiron 6400. I am using a Dell Inspiron E1505, which is basically the same machine. After editing /etc/default/sl-modem-daemon to change SLMODEMD_DEVICE=auto to SLMODEMD_DEVICE=hw:0 and then a reboot, my modem came to life! Tested using wvdialconf and kppp. BRILLIANT, mattsteven! This, of course, SHOULD work using the sl-modem-source package in the feisty repositories, so the bug still stands. -- Problem installing sl-modem package module not found https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/92777 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
