[Bug 1762999] Re: Unable to start Scilab 6.0.1 on bionic because of missed Java

2019-03-14 Thread William Fulton
I can see a fix added recently into universe(proposed) at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/scilab/+index by Ɓukasz Zemczak.
When will this make it into release?

[Bug 1282900] Re: compiz static window switcher no longer displaying window titles after upgrade

2015-09-04 Thread William Fulton
Is this bug labelled 'Critical' getting any attention? To me the default
Unity alt-tab switcher is just the most frustrating thing to use and at
least the static application switcher works like a traditional switcher
does, but it has this huge deficiency as you can't fully identify the
program being switched to as the window title has gone awol.

[Bug 1364242] [NEW] Package dependency problem with scilab and pkg-config

2014-09-02 Thread William Fulton
Public bug reported:

There is a package dependency problem for Scilab and pkg-config.

$ sudo apt-get install scilab -qq

then

$ pkg-config scilab --cflags-only-I
Package libxml-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libxml-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'libxml-2.0', required by 'libscilab', not found

The libxml2-dev package contains the 'libxml-2.0.pc' file mentioned in the
error message.
Installing the appropriate package fixes the problem:

$ sudo apt-get install libxml2-dev -qq
$ pkg-config scilab --cflags-only-I
-I/usr/include/libxml2 -I/usr/include/scilab

[Bug 787475] Re: Rhythmbox [0.12.8] [0.12.5] Not Fetching Album Information From MusicBrainz

2011-07-16 Thread William Fulton
I have the same problem with sound-juicer and Rhythmbox on Lucid Lynx.
Sound juicer works for me now having installed the rebuilt packages
against libmusicbrainz3.so.6 as described in bug 455461 -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sound-juicer/+bug/455461. Is
there any reason why the same cannot be done for Rhythmbox? Fixing this
kind of thing really ought to be a high priority for an Ubuntu long term
release.

[Bug 289621] [NEW] Sound Recorder - microphone recording regression in Intrepid Ibex - Intel hardware

2008-10-26 Thread William Fulton
Public bug reported:

The Sound Recorder application does not work with my Intel hardware.
When pressing 'Record' the Length reported rises rapidly showing 20
minutes of recording within about 3 seconds. After pressing 'Stop' it
takes a minute or so for the application to respond again. Nothing gets
played back when pressing 'Play'. I've observed this with the 8.10 beta
and release candidate on two systems. Both have Intel hardware. Some
details of the first system which works very well with Hardy 8.04:

[Bug 181386] LiveCD monitor resolution too high

2008-01-08 Thread William Fulton
Public bug reported:

I'm using an A150X1 LCD monitor (seems to be unbranded). When booting
from the Gutsy livecd I get the following message mid way through
booting:

Out of Range
H: +63.9KHz
V: +59.8 Hz

Range
H: 28-65KHz
V: 56-78 Hz
Max: 1024x768

So Gutsy is setting the resolution too high. Everything works nicely
with the Feisty livecd and the resolution is set to 1024x768. I cannot
boot from the Gutsy livecd so cannot install it. I've tried the vga=791
boot option and the Start Ubuntu in safe graphics mode boot option
with no difference. I've also attempted to select the resolution using
F4, but the resolution is always set too high. I'll attach the results
of the following which seems to be common for diagnosing these problems,
I hope it helps (NOTE: I ran these using the Feisty livecd as I cannot
even get a terminal in Gutsy):

- xorg.conf
- the xorg log file
- result of sudo xresprobe nv
- result of xrandr
- result of sudo get-edid
- result of lspci -v
