Hello chicoff: I went back to 18.04 LTS. Yes. I do remember installing
Sophos. That could very well be the reason. Thanks for following up.

2018-10-01 Thread William Sandhu
1st Oct 2018- Now does not even make it to the login screen. Hangs at:
"fsckd-cancel-msg:Press Ctrl+c to cancel all filesystem checks in
progress". Pressing Ctrl+c does nothing except to echo "^C" on the
screen. Leaving this message up for about an hour does nothing either.
Rebooted with Ctrl+Alt+Del and logged in with the 4.15 kernel.

Public bug reported:

Upgrade went fine. Rebooted. Got to login screen. Entered login. Screen went
blank like it was going to log me in. Screen came back and asked me to log in
again. And so on. Rebooted. Selected 4.18 recovery options. fsck ran fine. dpkg
reported PYTHON corruption. Rebooted. PC would hang with Press Ctrl C to stop
file system check. Pressing Ctrl C simply echoed ^C on the screen and did
nothing. ctrl alt del and rebooted into kernel cat /proc/version. Able to login
fine and post this "bug". lsb_release -a reports Distributor ID: Ubuntu

[Bug 1791480] [NEW] dual boot with intel rst raid1 with UEFI boot, security enabled, grub-efi-amd64 signed package failed to install target

2018-09-08 Thread William Sandhu
Public bug reported:

1. I deleted the ubuntu EFI directory from windows 10 diskpart so that I could
get a clean ubuntu 18.04 installation.
2. Installed / on the same drive as windows 10 (shrunk, unallocated partition)
and swap and /home on a different raid1 drive.
3. Pointed to the EFI Partition on the disk partitioning menu.
4. Went almost to the end before it crashed.

Going to try ubiquity -b installation and see if I can build grub
manually after ubuntu installs without a bootloader.
