[Bug 743348] Re: Please update to 2.0.13 (HTTPS certificate blacklist)

2011-04-04 Thread Wolfgang Pietsch
Right now the Ubuntu Mozilla Security PPA contains 2.0.13 for Hardy,
Karmic and Lucid. Packages for Maverick and Natty would be nice and
should go to -proposed or -security archives. As I stated before, Karmic
package is working good, no reason to hide it in PPA anymore.
Corresponding Iceape 2.0.13 has been moved to testing (wheezy), also no
complains with that. Tx. for attention.

I agree with expos' comment #308, this fix is only committed but not

If somebody needs to revert it to Released, please comment why.

By the way, this fix was part of upstream Linux 2.6.31.9 and some hours

[Bug 509834] [NEW] [karmic] No boot menu access since upgrade to 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu5 (karmic-proposed)

2010-01-19 Thread Wolfgang Pietsch
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

After karmic fresh install with grub2 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu3 everything
worked as expected, the boot menu showed up for the default timeout
value 10 sec. and could be interrupted with Up-Down-Keys. After upgrade
to 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu5 from karmic-proposed, system boots off
immediately in any case. Tried ESC, Shift during boot, deleting
/boot/grub/grubenv, playing with timeout values in /etc/default/grub, no
effect. Btw., update-grub was done, a GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX option has been
taken over sucessfully.

Hardware is a LG-X110 Notebook (MSI Wind Clone).

Appending files /etc/default/grub, /boot/grub/grub.cfg, /var/log/syslog

** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu)

[Bug 435352] Re: regression: uvcvideo module makes cannot reset port error on usb with bison webcam (5986:0203): USB and suspend fails

2010-01-15 Thread Wolfgang Pietsch
Everything working good so far with freshly upgraded karmic on
2.6.31-18, LG X110-L.A7SAG (MSI Wind Clone Netbook with a Bison webcam,
uvcvideo removed from /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf). Comment #278
talks about a webcam brightness problem, I've got a real dark picture
here, too (before and after this solve) but this is another construction
site. Thanks and closed for me.

2010-01-07 Thread Wolfgang Pietsch
A quick look into karmic git showed that the kernel was upgraded to
2.31.9 some hours ago, but right now this didn't appear on karmic
changes yet. Please keep us informed here when a new kernel is available
on karmic-proposed. Thanks for fixing it.

[Bug 435352] Re: regression: uvcvideo module makes cannot reset port error on usb with bison webcam (5986:0203): USB and suspend fails

2009-12-29 Thread Wolfgang Pietsch
By the way, Bug 494633 (karmic kernel update request, fix of comment
#202 included) took up this issue. An update to 2.6.31.7 kernel is still
open, hopefully that should require not too much time anymore.

[Bug 435352] Re: regression: uvcvideo module makes cannot reset port error on usb with bison webcam (5986:0203): USB and suspend fails

2009-09-26 Thread Wolfgang Pietsch
[8.160759] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device BisonCam, NB Pro (5986:0203)

uvcvideo 59016 0

On my LG X110-L.A7SAG (which is quite a clone of MSI Wind) running
Jaunty with the Kernel Backports ppa of user a7x, this happens since
udev 145-1 appeared, and through the kernel 2.6.31-X rc-pre-releases
until current 2.6.31-10.34 and udev 147. Earlier (without packages
requiring newer udev) the ehci_hcd force halt didn't happen when udev
was held on Jaunty's 141-1.2.

Symptoms are very similar to the original report. Found it happens
always after cold start (power off, USB devices without power, power
cable disconnected before). 50/50 when rebooting warm with init 6.
When ehci_hcd force halt doesn't occur after reboot, system is running
stable and USB 2.0 devices work normal (external DVB-T stick (dib0700)
and external generic USB storage). Changing/Removing USB devices shows
no effect, the devices are plugged in before start.

I noticed (and this seems to be normal, I'dont know if it's important)
boot behaviour on USB is different in cold/warm start. The light of my
GSM modem (Huawei E169G on USB 1.1) shows a reset on cold boot and
normal operation on warm boot. The 2.0 devices don't indicate, means I
cannot see if they are reset or not at cold boot. syslog doesn't tell
what happens.

echi_hcd force halt during boot always happens *after* devices are
detected and DVB-T stick is initialized successfully (with successful
firmware load on cold boot). I suspected a coincidence with hal start
but upgrade to hal 0.5.13-1ubuntu7 didn't help. I appreciate debug
hints.

syslog extract attached.

[Bug 329756] Re: Kaffeine freezes, on screen text pause and in process list futex wait

2009-04-03 Thread Wolfgang Pietsch
Just a guess. The freeze always happens when zapping around. It has
never happened when switching programs after viewing them for more than,
say, a couple of minutes. So could that be a problem with EPG-data
update in the background during switch? Just a guess...

week as well). Currently there is no release date for SeaMonkey 1.1.16
