[Bug 1001424] Re: openssl without Intel AES-NI engine support

[Bug 112584] Re: Mounting UDF should be preferred over ISO9660
yes, I first thought that your DVD-R was mounted iso9660 under feisty and gutsy. Concerning the first problem under feisty, indeed there is a bug with the mount command, here is what happens: - it tries mount with udf, it fails because it can't mount it read-write - it tries mount with iso9660, it fails because it can't mount it read-write then it tries to mount it readonly, but it didn't reinitialize the fs types list and retry with iso9660 instead of udf, so: - it tries to mount directly with iso9660 and succeeds. This bug has been fixed in gutsy, I don't know how to have bug fixed in feisty, maybe you can request a backport. However there is an easy workaround, just add the ro option for the cdrom in /etc/fstab: /dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user, noauto,ro 0 0 Then mount will directly succeed to mount the dvd with udf even under feisty (with the mount command). Concerning your second problem, that's a different bug, but can you do this ? hal-device | egrep udi|scd0 | grep -B 1 scd0 and retrieve the udi of the cdrom device (take the first one) then do: gnome-mount --hal-udi the_udi_found does it mount the DVD ? If it doesn't work, do: sudo strace -f gnome-mount --hal-udi the_udi_found 2 gnome-mount.strace.txt and attach the trace file. -- Mounting UDF should be preferred over ISO9660 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112584 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

If even with the dvd in the drive, you do not have the good udi, then hal should be the problem. Do: - eject the dvd if present in the drive - stop hal: sudo /etc/init.d/hal stop - launch in verbose mode: sudo su -s /bin/sh haldaemon -c hald --daemon=no --verbose=yes /tmp/hal.debug.txt 21 - wait several seconds that hal finished its startup - insert the dvd - wait several seconds - type ctrl+c - relaunch hal: sudo /etc/init.d/hal start and attach the hal.debug.txt file -- Mounting UDF should be preferred over ISO9660 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112584 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 13171] Re: Incorrect noexec option being used
/media/cdrom0 is usually in the /etc/fstab, so the options given in /etc/fstab will be used for mounting. For the cdrom they are usually: user, noauto and as the user option imply noexec, this is the reason why /media/cdrom0 is mounted noexec. [Bug 26338] Re: Adding a user to a group modifies other users' groups and passwords
@Renzo Bagnati: I think your problem is a different one. Your AD users don't exist in /etc/passwd and unfortunately, the system- tools-backend only know how to retrieve information from /etc/passwd, so your AD users are considered invalid. When the Users and Tools configuration panel retrieve the members of a group, it only gets the valid ones. When you modify the group configuration, the whole /etc/group file is rewritten without the invalid ones as Users and Tools doesn't even know about them. The same bug should happens with a NIS setup I think. I think the good solution is to have system-tools-backend use the getent command rather than parse the /etc/passwd file. [Bug 26338] Re: Adding a user to a group modifies other users' groups and passwords
I maybe have found something in system-tools-backend which could explain this weird bug. system-tools-backends looks at the line number instead of the group name to see if a group have been deleted/added/modified. Just look at the set function in /usr/share/system-tools-backends-2.0/scripts/Users/Groups.pm I won't go into details but this behaviour works correctly only the first time. If you launch users-admin, delete a group and then create a new user (with a new group), system-tools-backends will try to delete another group and will try to rename several groups (which fail because the target group name already exists). /usr/share/system-tools-backends-2.0/scripts/Users/Users.pm seems to behave the same. I dont' reprocuce this bug on gutsy. I am able to gedit a ftp file and to play a ogg file over ftp with totem. Ftp over gnomevfs seems to support seek. [Bug 29485] Re: symbolic links with spaces in their pathnames on ftp servers does not work
This bug happens because the ftp ls output is incorrectly parsed in the gnome_vfs_parse_ls_lga function. The attached patch solves the bug. The symlink target was also incorrectly parsed if there were space in it. This patch also solves this bug. I put updated gnomevfs package with the patch applied in my PPA archive: http://ppa.launchpad.net/yann-pleiades/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gnome-vfs2/ ** Attachment added: Fix the ftp ls parsing bug in gnomevfs http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10082442/32_handle_ftp_symlink_with_space.patch -- symbolic links with spaces in their pathnames on ftp servers does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/29485 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 140968] Re: System don't ask to empty Trash when unmounting NTFS partitions
According to the the fs_data structure in libgnomevfs/gnome-vfs-filesystem-type.c, trash should not be used on NTFS filesystems. This is why no Empty trash dialog box is showed, gnomevfs thinks there can't exist a trash on such system. So the bug is rather that a Trash is created on the volume which is supposed to not support it. I don't know yet where the error lies. However, I suppose that the No trash on NTFS setting was ok when ntfs was only read-only. Now a Trash can be created on such a filesystem. So a quick workaround on this bug is to enable ntfs trash usage which what the attached patch does. I put updated gnomevfs2 package including this fix in my personal package archive if someone want to test:: http://ppa.launchpad.net/yann-pleiades/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gnome-vfs2/ ** Attachment added: Enables trash usage on NTFS http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10082960/33_ntfs_can_use_trash.patch -- System don't ask to empty Trash when unmounting NTFS partitions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/140968 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 140968] Re: System don't ask to empty Trash when unmounting NTFS partitions
I found where the does the filesystem support trash ? test was missing. The attached patch adds the missing test in nautilus. Maybe I should open a bug in Nautilus ? [Bug 106621] Re: Gnome Trash doesn't show deleted files on ntfs-3g partitions
As unggnu commented in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- vfs2/+bug/140968/comments/5 , this bug is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-vfs2/+bug/140968 (or rather it's the same origin behind these 2 bugs). I don't think fuse is the problem as, from what I saw, the filesystem is detected as ntfs in gnomevfs. I explained the reason and gave patches in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- vfs2/+bug/140968/comments/4 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- vfs2/+bug/140968/comments/3 I put fixed packages in my personal archive: http://ppa.launchpad.net /yann-pleiades/. [Bug 26633] Re: Cannot move cross-filesystem symlinks to Trash
The upstream bug for this issue should rather be http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=312506 2 patches have already been given (including one of mine) but they haven't yet been applied (since 2005). Concerning ubuntu, I still can't delete symlink to other filesystem in Gutsy although now no error dialog appears, the file is just not deleted at all. The patch from Christian Neumair: http://mail.gnome.org/archives /nautilus-list/2005-October/msg00077.html seems to solve this issue.
