[Bug 501751] [NEW] Icons remain in Application menu after removing applications using software-center

2009-12-30 Thread Yuri Nikiforov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

Removed all default games from ubuntu using software-center, but icons
for them are still present in Application menu. Icons changed from
original ones to grey boxes with question marks. Tapping them with the
mouse does nothing.

[Bug 444395] Re: 9.10 beta fails to boot into LiveCD (flashing text on beta/straight black on later images)

2009-10-16 Thread Yuri Nikiforov
I've got simular problem, but not wil live CD. I have ubuntu 9.10 beta
that I can't boot. After usual update and reboot everything is normal
until X is going to be started. Instead of gdm-login screen I have
console with flashing text about boot process with normal messages and
login prompt. It's impossible to login because system responds very
strangely on keyboard, I think 9 of 10 keypresses are missed, I can't
even type my login correctly.

Re: [Bug 396894] Re: gdm login shows on secondary monitor if twinviewenabled on nvidia

2009-07-10 Thread Yuri Nikiforov
How can mouse be on the secondary monitor every time when I turn on my PC ?!
This bug appeared some weeks ago, when login screen was changed. Before if
was full screen login invitation and now it's a small window shown in the
center of screen with my wallpaper on the foreground.

Did I mentioned that I'm using Karmic Koala alpha 2 ?

I also have NVIDIA twinview enabled.
However, in my experience, the GDM login prompt does not always show on the
secondary monitor.
What actually determines its positioning is the current location of the
mouse cursor.

I personally think it's a bug in gdmlogin.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is
important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You
can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug
as a bug in nvidia-graphics-drivers-180.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of
applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can
be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the
application with which you are having an issue. You can learn more about
this feature at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Hi

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This looks like a duplicate of bug 384469. Can you
 confirm this?

Yes, it definitely looks like a duplicate of bug #384469. I can't try
solutions from #384469 discussion page right now so I can't tell if they
work for me. I'll check
them in the evening and write you wheter floppy is still making noise and
whether floppy is working at all solutions applied.

[Bug 392794] [NEW] Floppy is autoaccessed every second and makes noise

2009-06-26 Thread Yuri Nikiforov
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 alpha 2 and floppy started making noise every
second. Also in any active tty I got strings like [.] end_request:
I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0, here x - some numbers.
The same thing happens with live boot from 9.10 alpha 2 cd. I found similar
issue discribed here
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-end_request-ioerror-dev-fd0-sector0/ but it
is said there that this happens when there is no floppy drive installed. My PC
configuration: MB Asus A7V880, CPU AMD Athlon 2500+, RAM 640Mb.

I've read description of bug 257349 and don't see any common except the fact
that totem crashes.
In my case Totem doesn't play videos any more. Neither DiX/XviD/MJPEG/MPEG2 nor
Youtube and BBC selectors inside the player. Everything is ok until it's time
to play video. Playlists, Youtube and BBC search works.

Excuse me please, if I am writing to the wrong place or wrong person.

Re: [Bug 207942] Re: Keyboard layout change on Ctrl+Shift, scroll_lock changes on Alt+Shift independently

2008-10-29 Thread Yuri Nikiforov
Good morning

This bug is absent in 8.10 beta installed 4 day ago on clean hard drive.

There are others, like that I can't setup my network and internet thru vpn
using network-manager and finally I've made things editing manually files in
/etc/bla-bla..., I don't for that time know how to make my second monitor
work under Ubuntu although in WinXP it's simple, Total Player don't show my
subtitles although WinXP's Zoom Player does and VLC does under both Ubuntu
and XP, Ubuntu every time adds +3 hours to bios time and displays incorrect
time while rebooting to XP shows all ok (maybe Win and Linux works around
time zones not the same ways), compiz often loses the colour of window title
but after resizing or moving the window it's title restores to normal, and I
don't know whether somethere is something like system restore for those who
forget to make a backup of config file edited manually, ...

But thanks for all of you for all your hard work. I spent many ours with
ubuntu, I like it in server version, I like it in desktop and maybe in
sometime I'll be using it more.

[Bug 207942] [NEW] Keyboard layout change on Ctrl+Shift, scroll_lock changes on Alt+Shift independently

2008-03-27 Thread Yuri Nikiforov
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu hardy beta, all updates downloaded and installed at this time.
Upgraded from 7.10 using update-manager --devel-release. In 7.10 layout
switch worked on Ctrl+Shift and scroll lock changed with layout change.
After upgrade I can change layout and scroll lock led independently
using Ctrl+Shift for layout and Alt+Shift for led. For now I don't have
valid indication what layout is selected.
