[Bug 1096307] Re: Boot process hang because 'mountall' fails

2013-02-02 Thread Zentai Andras
Hi Steve, I tried to reproduce this bug uncommenting the not existing
swap partition in my fstab file , but it does not want to hang my system
any more. Sorry for wasting your time.

[Bug 1096307] Re: Boot process hang because 'mountall' fails

2013-02-01 Thread Zentai Andras
I experienced the same boot hangup on a 64 bit 12.04 Ubuntu after the
update of plymouth to Version: 0.8.2-2ubuntu31

I had a missing swap partition in my /etc/fstab file which triggered some
mountall warning before.
Seems like the new plymouth takes this error seriously and the system will not
start properly until I remove this not existing swap partition from the fstab
file.

[Bug 877438] Re: Unity/compiz has sluggish performance on dual-head with nvidia driver

2012-03-09 Thread Zentai Andras
I got similar problems using single monitor configuration, just after upgraded
my ATI card driver to the latest AMD propietary driver (12.2). Compiz used
50-80% of my CPU.
Before I used AMD propietary driver (12.1) without experiencing this problem.
So I consider this as a regression.
My card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650.

I just downgraded my AMD propietary driver back to version (12.1) and
compiz CPU usage reduced to less than 10%, but usually between 0-2%.

I'm not sure that my problem fit in this bug, since in the header it was
mentioned that nvidia drivers dual head have problem. But the symptoms
are quite similar. If there is a similar bug which is related to the AMD
driver please let me know.

[Bug 916879] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in unity::switcher::SwitcherController::CompareSwitcherItemsPriority()

2012-02-27 Thread Zentai Andras
Re: #21

Hi Andyceo (andyceo),

As far as I understand this bug was fixed in Precise. (See milestone:
unity 5.4.0 Brass Monkey in the header of this thread.)

In Oneiric which has unity version 4.28.0-0ubuntu2 it is not fixed yet.
Hopefully it will get fixed soon. Until it is fixed You could try some
of the workarounds mentioned in comments #12,#18.

Cheers,

[Bug 873058] Re: Jockey fail to install binary ati driver (post release) version

2012-01-02 Thread Zentai Andras
I have the same situation as D. Hugh Redelmeier (except my Oneiric is updated
from Natty)
and I agree with Him in the followings :

Is your proposed fix to nvidia-common supposed to fix jockey's handling
of installing proprietary AMD drivers (fglrx)? That seems rather
counter-intuitive.

I have a fresh AMD64 installation of Oneiric, plus all updates (but no
-proposed). Jockey fails with the message sorry installation of this
driver failed please have a look at the log file for details:
/var/log/jockey.log. I have no nVidia hardware.

I attached my /var/log/jockey.log(the updated driver install failure
part is from beginning UNTIL 2012-01-03 13:59:54,525)

The most interesting part is probably the following:
2012-01-03 13:54:36,907 WARNING: /sys/module/fglrx_updates/drivers does not
exist, cannot rebind fglrx_updates driver

[Bug 798376] Re: package flashplugin-installer 10.3.181.26ubuntu0.11.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-06-18 Thread Zentai Andras
Hi, I experienced the same on Natty 64 bit and on Maverick 64 bit systems.
Reinstalling flashplugin-installer package using Synaptic package manager
solved the problem on Natty.
(I do not have access to my Maverick PC, I will try this solution on Monday.)

[Bug 727620] Re: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Kernel BUG during recovery boot and in normal boot (Hybrid graphics)

2011-05-19 Thread Zentai Andras
Dear All,

I experienced the same problem with an other switchable graphics configuration:
ATI Radeon HD 3650 discrete and some Intel card. (Lenovo Thinkpad T500)

Boot hangs and I got the same error message, just the pci id was different:
udevd-work[86]: '/sbin/modprobe -bv unexpected exit with status 0x0009

Disabling the switchable graphics option in BIOS resulted good boot
either using Radeor or Intel video cards.

I suggest to include the HD 3650 model to the topic of the bug.

[Bug 93847] Re: Excessive CPU usage by Gnome System Monitor

2010-12-07 Thread Zentai Andras
I also got excessive CPU usage.

One possible workaround could be to open a terminal and run the 'top' command.
(I know it is not so fancy, but still does the job. :-)

[Bug 414862] Re: acroread 9: you do not have permission to write to this file

2009-09-09 Thread Zentai Andras
I have the same problem.
With previous Acrobat reader it worked properly.

I could save any programs with Firefox to directories, located on a
mounted ntfs or FAT32 partition, but could not save any files with
Acrobat Reader into them.

Affected lines from /etc/fstab :
UUID=4839-85AC  /media/data  vfat
defaults,utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1
UUID=60BCC7D1BCC7A040 /media/marci_kulso   ntfs
defaults,umask=007,gid=46 0 1

Output of 'ls -la' in the directory of/media:

drwxrwx--- 14 root plugdev 16384 1970-01-01 01:00 data
drwxrwx--- 1 root plugdev 4096 2009-09-03 16:16 marci_kulso

I'm in the group of plugdev and I can read and write these mounted
partitions without root permissions.

I wounder if I could give Adobe Reader plugdev rights could solve the
problem...

[Bug 327468] Re: cdrom not accessable in kernel 2.6.27-11

2009-04-23 Thread Zentai Andras
I have the same problem with totally different hardware (IBM R40 laptop
with DVD-ROM). With kernel 2.6.27-11 the DVD-ROM doesn't recognised.

With kerel 2.6.24-23 everything works fine.

Somebody else have the same problem, reported in ubuntu forums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1003447

(I also updated from 8.04 to 8.10. I'm not sure that this caused the
problem).
