[Bug 575626] Re: Gwibber fails to post messages

2010-07-19 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
A temporary solution I found that works is to install the Identi.ca
Facebook App. Put your Identi.ca account into Gwibber and any post that
you send to Identi.ca will be sent to Facebook. Probably not the
solution you might have been looking for but it works.

[Bug 479852] Re: gwibber-daemon Segmentation fault

2009-11-20 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
This time around I used the command gwibber-daemon -d
gwibber_daemon.log 21. I have no idea what the 21 part does but I
remembered seeing it in a command from a site I went to for help on
debugging a pulseaudio problem I'm currently having. Anyway, I thought
I'd try that extra part with debugging gwibber to see what it would do
out of curiosity. To my surprise it causes all the other garbage in
shell to be stored in the log, where as the prior command didn't. So
this new command might be useful for anyone else debugging some issue or
another. I was running version 2.0.0~bzr478-0ubuntu2~daily1 of gwibber
when I created this log.

Same issue as before, upgrading the version didn't help.

[Bug 479852] Re: gwibber-daemon Segmentation fault

2009-11-20 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
I sent the last log prematurely. I had the last post written and ready
to send the moment the gwibber-daemon crashed. I got side tracked with
other stuff and sent the post and forgot to wait for the daemon to
crash. The last log looked like it had errors in it so it might be
useful anyway. In spit of that, here's a log with the crash running the
same version as mentioned above.

[Bug 464458] Re: Music Stops Playing Randomly

2009-11-18 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
There's been a lot of updates/patches for Ubuntu since my last post so I
decided to create a new debug log in the event newer updates might
effect this bug. I installed all the dpg related packages for
pulseaudio in case it might help. This time around I tested Rhythmbox,
Banshee and Songbird. With all the changes I mentioned this new log
should have more relevant information then the last log in spite of the
fact it's smaller in size.

[Bug 479852] [NEW] gwibber-daemon Segmentation fault

2009-11-10 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwibber

The first log was from running gwibber-daemon -d gwibber_debug.txt.
There was more information printed in the Terminal that for some reason
didn't make it into the debug file. So I copied and paste it into a
separate file that I'll upload after this initial post. I can only
upload one file right now.

I'm running Gwibber 2.0.0 on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit. Not much else to say
except the gwibber-daemon crashes after running for some time. The
gwibber settings are optimized for use with indicator-applet 0.1 So
when I click X on gwibber to close the main window, the gwibber-daemon
remains running in the indicator-applet. Which I'm fine with. I don't
leave the main Gwibber window open long enough to see if it to would
crash.

[Bug 464458] Re: Music Stops Playing Randomly

2009-11-04 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
Sorry it took so long. It took forever to reproduce the error. Which
is why the log is a tad big. The issue happens when I don't want it but
wont happen when I want it. It finely happened some time when I was in
bed. So if it's in the log it's near the bottom.

[Bug 464458] Re: Music Stops Playing Randomly

2009-11-01 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
I was able to forcefully reproduce the error instead of waiting for it
to happen on it's own. Of course I was running Banshee at the time I
did this. I'll need to try this in Rythmbox and Songbird later to
confirm a theory. What I did was I started up Banshee and started
playing some music. I right clicked the speaker icon in the system tray
and clicked Sound Prefernces. Under the Hardware tab I changed the
Profile from Analog Stereo Duplex to Digital Stereo (IEC958) Input
just to see what would happen and simultaneously causing the error to
happen in Banshee. I just changed the Profile to Digital Stereo
(IEC958) Output + Analog Stereo Input. I'll have to see how long my
music remains playing. I'll report back if it freezes or not. Right
now my belief is that the bug isn't in Rhythmbox but in the new sound
system 9.10 is using as this issue effects not just Rhythmbox but also
Banshee and Songbird. These 3 programs are the only ones I've tested so
far so I can't speak for other music programs. As for Totem it seems
totally unaffected by the issue.

2009-11-01 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
This is probably not related to my bug submission so I don't know how
relevant this information is. But, one change I noticed after changing
my sound Profile is that now when I use the mouse to move the primary
volume bar on the sound icon in the system tray my audio actually
changes this time as before it didn't. Before the only volume bars that
had any effect on altering sound where the Alert volume and the volume
bars in the Applications tab when music/video software is running.

I just played an entire album without Rythmbox screwing up on me. Looks
like my theory was correct. The issue was related to the Profile
selection in the new sound system. Changing it to [Digital Stereo

problem... so far. knocks on wood Why it was on [Analog Stereo
Duplex] as the default, I have no idea but the issue is solved.

[Bug 464458] [NEW] Music Stops Playing Randomly

2009-10-30 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit. After a song or two,
Rhythmbox stops playing music. It seems to happen randomly no matter
what song, artist or genre I'm playing. Clicking on buttons does
nothing. The program doesn't seem to freeze or crash. It just refuses
to respond to clicking play, pause or changing of songs. I can open up
some menus in the program just not change any options or do any thing
else. I also can't close the program. I end up having to use System
Monitor to kill it. Nothing in my music collection has changed and
played with out problems in Janunty.

If any one needs more data of what's going on under the hood when this
happens tell me what commands in shell to run and I'll provide a more
detailed report. It wont be hard to reproduce this, I just have to
start playing music and it'll randomly happen again.

[Bug 464458] Re: Music Stops Playing Randomly

2009-10-30 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
This time it only took about 2 seconds to reproduce the problem. But I
also had Miro and Totem paused. So I wonder if that helped speed the
problem along. My instinct tells me the issue might be related with the
new volume control system or what ever you call it, I don't know.

[Bug 384639] Re: 2.6.30-8 kernel related packages fail to install

2009-06-12 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
I was able to get the new kernel working after installing newer nvidia
drivers. Here's the steps I took to get mine working. You should
change the steps below to suit your architecture. If you have a 32 bit
system, then you should download the 32 bit packages. Note: I don't
really use the wget command (I downloaded the packages through Firefox)
so if I used them incorrectly in this tutorial feel free to fix the
directions to how you like. I just typed it here for your convenience.

1st) Use apt-get to purge the new kernel. If you don't need to do this
you can skip this step. I just wanted to start fresh before installing
the nvidia drivers and reinstalling the new kernel. As far as I know
you have to install the drivers before the new kernel. I could be wrong
about that but I just wanted to make sure before reinstalling the new
kernel. Better safe then sorry.

sudo apt-get purge linux-headers-2.6.30-020630 linux-
headers-2.6.30-020630-generic linux-image-2.6.30-020630-generic

2nd) Download and install the new nvidia drivers from
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/n/nvidia-graphics-
drivers-180/.

wget
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/n/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/nvidia-180-kernel-source_180.60-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
wget
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/n/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/nvidia-180-libvdpau_180.60-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
wget
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/n/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/nvidia-glx-180_180.60-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i nvidia*.deb

3rd) Reinstall the kernel 2.6.30 packages and reboot. If you haven't
all ready you should download the pre-compiled packages from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/;.

wget
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/linux-headers-2.6.30-020630-generic_2.6.30-020630_amd64.deb
wget
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/linux-headers-2.6.30-020630_2.6.30-020630_all.deb
wget
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/linux-image-2.6.30-020630-generic_2.6.30-020630_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i linux*2.6.30*.deb
sudo reboot now

If all goes well, all systems should be a go.

[Bug 385361] Re: No Sound In Kismet Client

2009-06-10 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
Not sure why, but all of a sudden sound is working. All I did was apt-
get purge kismet then apt-get install kismet. So unless someone
repackaged the program with a fix I have no idea why it's working now.

[Bug 385361] Re: No Sound In Kismet Client

2009-06-10 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
I forgot to ask, what should I change the Status to if the bug is
gone? I can't really confirm there was a bug in the first place or how
it was fixed if there was one. Any suggestions of an appropriate form
of action would be appreciated.

[Bug 384639] Re: 2.6.30-8 kernel related packages fail to install

2009-06-10 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
I'm also having trouble installing the latest kernel 2.6.30 stable on
Ubuntu 9.04. The deb's I tried installing I got from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30;. Technically
the kernel installs fine. It's the nvidia modules it seems to have
problems with. All other kernels I've downloaded and installed from
that site have worked perfectly with nvidia drivers. It's this latest
kernel that is the first to not work.

Here's the output I got in shell.

$ sudo dpkg -i linux*2.6.30*.deb

Everything seems to work fine other then sound. If I type /usr/bin/play
/usr/share/kismet/wav/new_network.wav in shell the sound plays fine.
But it wont play in kismet.
