[Bug 434232] Re: cryptsetup prompt is overriden by upstart and xsplash in Karmic
I am using an encrypted home partition, and I experience the same problem as GOo in #13 _although_ I am using the bootwait option in /etc/fstab. However, using bootwait on /home should not have any effect anyway. There are currently lots of bugs related to this issue, and bug reports seem to overlap. I have been using Ubuntu from the beta of Warty Warthog, and this is the third release that broke my encryption setup, which is not complex at all anyway. I know I am being unprofessional now, but this SUCKS, guys. It really should be possible to mount an encrypted home at system boot without months of bug-reporting. [Bug 91405] Re: can't open crypted device since 2:1.0.4+svn26-1ubuntu1~edgy1
As reported, the update to 1.0.4 broke my setup. I'd like to give some more information, maybe that helps. I had dist-upgraded my dapper system, including the crypt devices, by using Ubuntu's update-manager. After that, I struggled with Bug 62571 (https://launchpad.net/upstart/+bug/62751), which basically had the effect that cryptsetup did not prompt for the passphrase at system boot. As a workaround, I implemented a fix to /lib/cryptsetup/cryptdisks.functions, as suggested in comments 18 and 21 (https://launchpad.net/upstart/+bug/62751/comments/18). After that, my crypt device setup worked just like before the dist- upgrade.
