[Bug 870874] Re: LDAP user with automounted nfs homedir cannot login
Regarding comment #39, where Lennart mentioned to install nscd, I'd like to add that this solved several problems that I have at our company. The setup here is that users login using LDAP account (but we don't use any network FS). Since the upgrade to 12.04, some users started to complain that Thunderbird is always crashing at startup, or that Nautilus doesn't startup. So after installing nscd, those problems went away. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/870874 Title: LDAP user with automounted nfs homedir cannot login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/at-spi2-core/+bug/870874/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 876007] Re: nautilus uses 100% of CPU
Don't you think it's a bit reckless closing bugs and brushing them aside like this, as if people reporting them are mere idiots. This is a really serious bug, and only two days ago I managed to waste a complete 48 hours because of the 100% CPU usage and unresponsiveness of the system. You say to obtain a back trace; how on earth are you supposed to do that when the system is simply frozen and the bug affecting not a single package, but every single package that one can use to copy files across - take your pick, do a large copy of either a large contiguous file or a large number of files, and bingo you have it. One would have thought a team with brains the size of a planet would surely have seen this, rather than hide behind political crap that distinguished Micro$oft and it's pile of Windoze trash. [Bug 972013] [NEW] Cheese doesn't start
Public bug reported: Trying to start cheese from the terminal got this error: (cheese:6333): Gdk-WARNING **: The program 'cheese' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'. (Details: serial 146 error_code 1 request_code 138 minor_code 66) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) [Bug 943877] [NEW] Clicking an icon on the launcher, that was previously set to be Keep in launcher, duplicates the icon and the program that it runs
Public bug reported: If I open some applications, for example, the terminal, and then I right click on its icon on the launcher and choose Keep In Launcher and close the application. When I try to reopen that application again by clicking on its icon on the launcher, the application opens, but the icon on the launcher is duplicated, as if there are two instances on the application are running. When I close that application, the duplicated icons remain on the launcher. If I try to open it again, another icon will be added to the launcher making them all three icons. I have to right-click one of those icons and remove the Keep In Launcher option, while the program is running, and then close it, in order for those multiple icons to disappear. [Bug 862374] Re: login sound does not play
The same problem occurred to me suddenly, although I'm using ubuntu 11.10 the final release, and it's been working with me very well for the last 5 months. Just yesterday, it stopped playing the log-in sound, and I don't know why. To help you better identify the problem, this occurred after I had a dependency problem with the software update, and I had to fix it using sudo apt-get install -f I had to follow the instructions in comment #8 in this page to make the login sound work again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/862374 Title: login sound does not play To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libcanberra/+bug/862374/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
