[Bug 89398] 6.06 in 7.04 disc tree

2007-03-03 Thread alecjw
Public bug reported:

When you put the Ubuntu Feisty Herd 5 desktop CD into a windows coputer,
it does the autorun with the open source windows software thing, but in
the title bar, it says "Ubuntu 6.06" rahther than "Ubuntu 7.04"

Steps to reproduce:
1. Put a Feisty herd 5 dekstop cd into a windows computer. If it does not
autorun, go into the cd and open start.exe.
2. Look at the title bar. It says "Ubuntu 6.06" despite it being a 7.04 cd.

[Bug 72262] Re: Form Wizard in Base does not complete

2007-02-09 Thread alecjw
I can confirm this. I think that this bug should be given a high
priority, as one is completely unable to make a report in OOo base
without it.

For anyone who needs a working OOo, remove openoffice.org and then
install it from these packages:

For x86:
http://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/OOF680_m5/Build-1
/OOo_OOF680_m5_LinuxX86_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz

Or for AMD64:
http://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/OOF680_m5/Build-1/OOo_OOF680_m5_LinuxX86
-64_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz

[Bug 72744] Re: Wesnoth installs with no campaigns

2006-12-18 Thread alecjw
I had a simmilar idea:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1902111#post1902111

The 3 possible ideas in the post are:
1. Make wesnoth depend on wesnoth-music, wesnoth-editor and the campaigns.
However, some people might not want music, campaigns and editors.
2. Make a "wesnoth-all" metapackage which depends on wesnoth and the music,
editor and campaigns. However, you would instinctively install the wesnoth
package rather than wesnoth-all, unless you knew whay you were doing, so few
people would use it.
3. Rename wesnoth to wesnoth-base, and make a metapackage called wesnoth which
depends on wesnoth-base and the music, editor and campaigns.

No. 3 seems to be the best option.
I think that these changes should be implemented in feisty.

[Bug 70489] Reovable media gets mounted halfway through format

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

When I format of partition a removable drive in gparted, it gets mounted
halfway through the format and the filesystem becomes corrupted. My workaround

Surely gparted should do this itself when it formats a drive?

[Bug 64518] Taskbar flashes unessacaerily

2006-10-07 Thread alecjw
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gaim

When you recieve a message in gaim, the taskbar flashes to try and get
your attention. Usually, when you open the window and read the message,
it will sometimes stop flashing, as i believe that it is supposed to.
However, it sometimes continues to flash. I'll attach some screenshots
next time it happens.

Sorry Sebastien i missed this part ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/rhythmbox
Package: rhythmbox 0.9.6-0ubuntu1.
Alecjw can you please attach the output of rhythmbox-dbg also after you run the
debug can you please try the updated version of rhythmbox the newest version is
0.9.6-0ubuntu2 if you havent already upgraded it.
-

rhythmbox-dbg dose'nt work. It says that the command doesn't exist. I
do have the latest version. It's working now, it just crashed once, so
its not all that important; I'm just reporting it in case it happens
again or effects someone else.

[Bug 64044] Re: Usplash problem

2006-10-05 Thread alecjw
I've attached some photos with my first reply. The photos pretty much
speak for themselves but anyway: It basically shows the COF twice, but
in strange places, cutting some off of each side. About half of the
screen is filled with black (at the top). I worked fine (ie one COF,
perefectly centered and brown background filling thw hole screen) on the
livecd, and in dapper.

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2006-09-16 Thread alecjw
Apparently (according to most computer manafacturers who I've
contacted), there's a law in the UK that all computers have to ship with
Windoze...

The sensible solution to this would be to have windoze 95 on a 1GB
partition on the hard disk, and as soon as the computer starts, linux
reformats the windoze partition to swapfs...

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2006-08-30 Thread alecjw
I think that this bug should have an importance level of its own because
it is the cause of most of the rest of the bugs - most people use
windoze so hardware manafacturers don't do drivers for linux. Also,
there is a much smaller linux community, meaming that bugs don't get
found or squashed quickly enough.

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2006-08-29 Thread alecjw
I've tagged it as a security risk becuase windoze, by default, has all
of it's ports open and, worst of all, you might think your files are
password protected, but the aren't encrypted in any way. Just put the
HDD in a linux machine and voila - there are you personal files which
are supposed to be password protected. Also, any other user can just
remove your password in windoze.

[Bug 58098] /cdrom/ mount point changing.

2006-08-29 Thread alecjw
Public bug reported:

Whenever I unplug a cd rom drive and plug it back in again, it gets
given a different name, so when it asks me to insert a CD into /cdrom/,
I can't because it's name's changed to something different (eg dvdrom).
This means that I can't install new packages or use dist-upgrade.
