[Bug 1925010] Re: shim-signed 15.4 does not boot on EFI 1.10 systems

2021-05-01 Thread andschuster
So the question remains, when the normal upgrade path from 20.10 to
21.04, that was stopped because of this bug, will be available.

[Bug 1286561] Re: kcmshell4 filetypes suddenly starts crashing

Yes I also believe that reason of the crash was in
/usr/local/share/mime. But is it really acceptable that the program
crashes without a meaningful error message only because there are wrong
permissions?

[Bug 1286561] Re: kcmshell4 filetypes suddenly starts crashing

2014-03-02 Thread andschuster
I found the reason of the crashes using strace: Some files iIn
/usr/local/share misses world readability. After changing the
permissiones kcmshell4 filetypes works as aspected. So the remaining
problem is, that kcmshell crashes instead of returning a meaningfull
error message in such a situation. Do you still need the requested
information?

[Bug 1187032] [NEW] occasionally recovery required on readonly filesystem

After the kernel update prior to linux-image-3.2.0-45-generic and still
continuing after the update to linux-image-3.2.0-45-generic I
occasionally get the following message at boot time: "recovery required

[Bug 1101797] Re: On shutdown: “umount2: Device or resource busy, umount:/dev/sda2 busy - remounted read-only” appears

2013-01-21 Thread andschuster
I observed the following: After upgrading to kernel 2.3.0-36 on my
desktop and on my laptop I often see that fsck clears orphaned inodes on
ext4-filesystems when I reboot. I didn't saw that before the upgrade.
After returning to 2.3.0-35 this problem disappeared on both machines.

I have the same problem with my Sony VPCEH2Z1E/B. Using device manager

AR 3011 on my laptop that should be supported by ath3k. May be it is a
new derivate of this chip.

[Bug 1004704] [NEW] after today's xserver update no console login from kdm

2012-05-25 Thread andschuster
Public bug reported:

After today's xserver update for precise I cannot go to the console
using "Alt+N" from kdm any longer. If I try to do so I get a black

So I believe that there will be a lot of "normal users" (such not having
any knowledge about launchpad, ...) of 10.04 LTS who have that problem,
because ubuntu uses the hp-backend by default if it finds a printer made
by HP (is this correct?) and will stop printing. A very problematic
situation for a long term edition!

[Bug 503877] [NEW] after ca. 10 hours of work kde crashes always, when many windows are opened, with a lot of faults on the screen

[Bug 356142] Re: cups backends don't recognize printer URI

I already did a full upgrade.

After rebooting "lpstat -v" gives the same listing as above, but "lpinfo
-v" now shows (the difference to the situation above is that the printer
was turned on during booting):

r...@darkstar:~# lpinfo -v
network socket

network http
network ipp
network lpd
direct scsi
serial serial:/dev/ttyS0?baud=115200
serial serial:/dev/ttyS1?baud=115200
network smb

That means that there are two different URIs.

I attached the output of "lsusb -vvv" as lsusbvvv.txt

[Bug 356142] [NEW] cups backends don't recognize printer URI

2009-04-06 Thread andschuster
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

After upgrading from Intrepid to Jaunty Beta the automatic construction
of the device URI works well:

r...@darkstar:~# lpstat -v
Gerät für hp-LaserJet-1300: hp:/usb/hp_LaserJet_1300?serial=00CNBD032941
Gerät für PDF: cups-pdf:/

But the backends don't recognize the printer:

r...@darkstar:~# lpinfo -v
network socket
network beh
file cups-pdf:/
direct hal
direct hpfax
direct hp
network http
network ipp
network lpd
direct scsi
serial serial:/dev/ttyS0?baud=115200
serial serial:/dev/ttyS1?baud=115200

Printing doesn't work. If I try to start printing nothing happens. The
printer is listed:

r...@darkstar:~# lsusb

works well and the URI automatically constructed is the same reported by the
backends.

saw that my Laserjet 1300 ist ready and printing, but nothing happened.
In syslog I found the following message:
