[Bug 1542733] Re: Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi Network, "Connect" grayed out
Any updates for this on 16.10? Can I use the above patches to fix the issue? [Bug 1344762] Re: update-notifier tells me to upgrade from 12.04.4 LTS to 14.04 LTS (because of HWE), but that release is not found
I also have this issue, 'do-release-upgrade' states there is no available upgrades, as 'dasjoe' stated - the changelog page has not been updated yet. When are we expecting this to be updated? I thought 7/24 was when we were to expect the release of 14.04.1. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1344762 Title: update-notifier tells me to upgrade from 12.04.4 LTS to 14.04 LTS (because of HWE), but that release is not found To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-notifier/+bug/1344762/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 152855] Re: gksu dialog box hangs when xfce compositing is on
I haven't used XFCE in a while, I'll have to install it to check this out in the Heron. [Bug 53897] Re: Disappearing panels Xubuntu dapper
I have a machine with old hardware in it, so I use xubuntu. This is not my machine, and the person using it reported this issue. Her panel would sometimes just lose plugins on it, and other times the panel would disappear completely. It's 7.10 gutsy, and her video card is some crappy onboard VIA. -- Disappearing panels Xubuntu dapper https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53897 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 53897] Re: Disappearing panels Xubuntu dapper
I noticed people said they were playing freecell when this happened - which made me curious, because she said freecell was being played on the machine, and the game was left running overnight. I'm not saying the game running overnight was the issue, but maybe freecell is? -- Disappearing panels Xubuntu dapper https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53897 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 123696] Re: dependency problem on Kubuntu
Don't tell them to pull their fingers out... sheesh, that makes them want to write code for you for free, huh? At any rate, I am having this same issue. No PPTP VPN support even after I install network-manager-pptp. I get the error No configuration interface. I am in the process of trying nem75's fix, but that is sloppy - this should be something that is integrated into ubuntu (or kubuntu) - I should be able to connect to any VPN out-of-the-box. Also, the KNetworkManager link does nothing from the menu as everyone is stating. Very frustrating - possibly related to the administrator mode not working when in System Settings? -- dependency problem on Kubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123696 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 152855] Re: password dialog box hangs
Telecaster72 - i can't use the 'nv' driver - as i recall X wouldn't even load with that driver. for whatever reason every reboot on this machine i would have to redo the video setup - with nvidia's official installer with no window manager running. now i don't have to do that any more... i'm not sure what's changed other than switching to kde. -- password dialog box hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152855 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

after testing, display compositing is definitely the source of this problem. tested with it off and on, and when it is off, no problems. when it's on, the dialog box hangs as it did before. -- password dialog box hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152855 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 152855] Re: password dialog box hangs
so i switched to KDE because XFCE was slowing my systems down. i originally tried it because it was supposed to be for low-end computers, so i figured it would run like a dream - it hasn't, and KDE has been much more responsive (especially the password dialog boxes) so thanks, you can close this bug report. -- password dialog box hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152855 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 161962] Re: Xubuntu works terrible on a PIII 1GHz 128MB ram
try KDE - i found that it actually runs better than XFCE does on ALL my systems. from my high-end computer at home to my outdated laptop at work, XFCE was actually slower to respond (in every aspect...) than KDE. if it's good enough for linus, it's good enough for me. -- Xubuntu works terrible on a PIII 1GHz 128MB ram https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/161962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes that is correct. It was suggested I remove two pieces of hardware that I don't use (a PCI netgear wifi card and a tv tuner that is of very poor quality). [Bug 152855] Re: password dialog box hangs
so i'm on install #3 of gutsy on this machine, and the password dialog box STILL hangs after i enter my password and hit 'enter'. this still does not happen to my 2 machines at work (a laptop and desktop) first i upgraded fesity to gutsy, it hung. so i wiped it and tried 64-bit, it still hung and i couldn't get flash working right. so then i wiped it again with a clean xubuntu 7.10 32-bit, and it STILL HANGS! i'm guessing it's hardware related, but this machine by far has the nicest hardware of any of my machines... please someone help, this is driving me NUTS since i use this computer as a media distribution device, and when i watch shows and have to enter my root password, it is annoying to say in the least. thanks! -- password dialog box hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152855 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 70561] Re: Xubuntu Desktop CD needs more than 128 MB RAM to boot
i can confirm as well - to some extent. my work laptop started with 128mb of ram, with 2mb to video. i just used the alternate text-based installer no problem. every attempt to boot a live disc GUI failed. so after it was installed, everything ran so SLOW! what's depressing is the copy of XP actually runs fine. i figured xubuntu would run better than XP, but i was wrong. at any rate, i stole some ram from my old work laptop and managed to get 51`2mb in it. still isn't as snappy as XP, which is very disappointing, and probably the main thing ubuntu needs to work on in general is snappiness of the GUIs! can't beat the stability tho... which is why i don't use XP! -- Xubuntu Desktop CD needs more than 128 MB RAM to boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/70561 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 152855] password dialog box hangs
Public bug reported: so i use xubuntu 7.10 (just upgraded from 7.04) and the password dialog box hangs after you enter your password and hit 'enter'... it takes a while to authenticate it seems! i checked out GNOME to see if it was the same and it is not - was no problem in GNOME. one interesting thing I noticed - before in 7.04, when I was watching video on my second monitor a password dialog box appeared for whatever reason, the video on the second screen would stop and the screen would dim, but the audio would continue. now, the audio and video continue until you hit 'enter' after you have entered your password. then the same old song and dance - while it takes forever to make sure my password is correct, it pauses the video and continues the audio. thanks! ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- password dialog box hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152855 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
