[Bug 1510731] Re: Can't use crypto in manual disk setup Kubuntu 15.10
The fact that 1523194 has been assigned to partman-crypto indicates the underlying cause _could_ be there. However the ubiquity-frontend-gtk does NOT suffer the symptoms that ubiquity-frontend-kde does. Therefore I wonder if ubiquity-frontend-gtk has been modified to accommodate, and I hope the bug you raised in the KDE tracker gets some traction so that ubiquity-frontend-kde can also be made to work around the underlying issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1510731 Title: Can't use crypto in manual disk setup Kubuntu 15.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1510731/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1510731] Re: Can't use crypto in manual disk setup Kubuntu 15.10
I confirm this bug exists in Lubuntu Next 17.10 amd64, which derives its Ubiquity from Kubuntu. I can also confirm that the bug did NOT exist in Lubuntu installs 15.10, 16.04, 16.10 all amd64, which is derived from the main Ubuntu Ubiquity. My workaround was to 1) manually create, format and open the physical volume for encryption 2) launch Ubiquity, and in Manual disk layout choose the /dev/mapper/sdaX_crypt volume as / (root) without formatting 3) complete the installation but choose Continue Testing 4) chroot into target, create crypttab and check fstab, update-initramfs for step-by-step instructions see https://github.com/artmg/lubuild/blob/master/help/configure/LxQt- Kubuntu-Ubiqity-manual-encryption-bug.md -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1510731 Title: Can't use crypto in manual disk setup Kubuntu 15.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1510731/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1508092] [NEW] no sound from speakers, only headphones
Public bug reported: Sound comes out of the headphones when I insert the jack, but does NOT come out of the speakers when I unplug it. This includes sound from any source, including aplay. This is a newly installed Lubuntu daily build (Lubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Alpha i386 20151017.1). If I go back to running from the Live USB install media, the sound works fine from the speakers OR the headphones, as expected. As suggested by https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure I have tried: * killing and reloading pulseaudio and alsa-mixer * purging (.config/) .pulse/ then killing/reloading and rebooting * installing and reinstalling pavucontrol linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils libasound2 In the installed version I notice that in Volume Control (pavucontrol) the output switches automatically between headphones and speaker when the jack is plugged and unplugged - as one would expect - and in alsamixer I can see the inactive device being muted automatically. However the speaker never issues any sound :( On the contrary in the live usb I notice that alsamixer leaves both outputs active (unmuted) and simply relies on the microswitch in the headphone jack to control whether the speaker can be heard or not. For reference I past the output of the FAILING test case's alsa-info.sh below and attach the output of the WORKING test case's alsa-info.sh ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-16.19-generic 4.2.3 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-16-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/pcmC0D0c: elda 1480 F...m pulseaudio /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: elda 1480 F...m pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: elda 1480 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: LXDE Date: Tue Oct 20 16:36:58 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-10-19 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Alpha i386 (20151017.1) JournalErrors: No journal files were found. -- No entries -- PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: alsa-driver UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 05/06/2011 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 1301 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: 1015PE dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.board.version: x.xx dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 0x dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.chassis.version: x.x dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr1301:bd05/06/2011:svnASUSTeKComputerINC.:pn1011PX:pvrx.x:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rn1015PE:rvrx.xx:cvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:ct10:cvrx.x: dmi.product.name: 1011PX dmi.product.version: x.x dmi.sys.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. ** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 wily ** Attachment added: "This is the alsa-info.sh output from the WORKING Live USB test case" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1508092/+attachment/4501128/+files/WORKING.alsa-info.txt.l8yJETyU2b -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1508092 Title: no sound from speakers, only headphones To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1508092/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1375173] Re: [Acer AO722] suspend/resume failure
Although I do recall suspend issues on this hardware with 14.04, I no longer have any installations prior to 14.10 on which to test. Therefore I am not sure if I can help with regression. However I would be happy to assist with parsing the scope down to determine if there are driver fixes that could resolve this issue 100% of the time on 14.10. Christoper (or colleagues), could you please advise where I can find instructions to help me do this. [Bug 1377279] [NEW] dmesg fills with "speaker allocation warnings"
Public bug reported: This is an issue with the driver message log filling with warnings, and NOT an actual issue with the hardware or software functionality. Sound on this system works as expected, but dmesg becomes cluttered with log information that does not appear of significant value, considering the frequency and repetition of the warnings. The following message appears, repeated on multiple consecutive lines: "sound hdaudioC0D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD" and on some occasions is accompanied by an entry stating: "[drm:dce4_afmt_write_speaker_allocation] *ERROR* Couldn't read Speaker Allocation Data Block: 0" The system in question is a laptop with an external monitor connected over HDMI. It has been freshly built with Lubuntu 14.10 Beta 2, and the same issue also occurs when using testing the mainline kernel 3.17.0-031700rc7.201409281835. The occasions on which this issue (the repeated warnings) occurs under strict testing conditions include: * Using the Monitor Preferences (LXRandR) to turn OFF and ON the external monitor (approx 10 warnings for each action) * Putting the system into the suspend power mode and subsequently resuming (approx 30 warnings) No warnings occur when: * unplugging or plugging the HDMI cable * locking and unlocking the lightdm desktop I have observed occasions where the warnings are written many, many hundreds of times, on an almost continuous basis, but I have not been able to reproduce this behavior in controlled circumstances. [Bug 1372116] [NEW] xorg freezes mouse and consumes cpu
Public bug reported: Freshly built Lubuntu Desktop amd64 14.10 beta 1 (20140826.1) Hardware spec from hardinfo - https://gist.github.com/74e638f3a308f6aaef53 When using more memory on system (e.g. multiple apps or many browser tabs) the system will freeze for 10 seconds to over a minute, with the mouse cursor not moving at all, and no screen updates. When it finally responds I see cpu spikes in xorg process with lxtask showing over 100%! Shutting down applications or tabs to reduce memory load seems to make the issue go away, but trying to multitask renders system practically unusable.
