[Bug 2067761] [NEW] Discover GUI will not load, although process loads. It can be made to work if passed to strace.

2024-05-31 Thread Dan Taller
Public bug reported:

For several days, I cannot use the Discover software app. (plasma-
discover). Clicking the icon results in a brief animation on the icon,
then nothing. Single or multiple attempts fail to load the screen, but
they show up in System Monitor.

If I use strace plasma-discover from console, then the entire Discover
software does load! It works fine thereafter. But once closed, will not
work again unless passed to strace again.

Nothing significant that I can recall was done to cause this, and many
other individuals online have the exact same problem.

[Bug 2067758] [NEW] Remmina fails to connect using RDP with gateways

2024-05-31 Thread omriasta
Public bug reported:

Remmina was working until I upgraded from Ubuntu 23.10 to 24.04.
I have tried the next PPA of remmina as well and have the same issue.
I am able to connect without issue using the xfreerdp command line and an .rdp
file
I have tried "reimporting" the .rdp file to remmina as well as changing almost
every option I could find in remmina (TLS level, Security protocol negotiation
etc.).

[Bug 2067752] [NEW] Packages file contains extra uinnecessary hashes

2024-05-31 Thread Robie Basak
Public bug reported:

Packages files (eg.
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/jammy/main/binary-
amd64/Packages.xz) contain hashes using MD5sum, SHA1, SHA256 and SHA512,
but if we deprecate the older ones and leave only SHA512 (for example),
then we get a 30% or so size saving, reducing the "apt-get update"
download size of a typical system by 5-10 MB when there is no cache (eg.
on every cloud instance boot). This seems worth adding to a backlog.

I think we need to track:

Launchpad support for per-series compatibility level, so that we can
reduce the set of published hashes in newer releases without affecting
old ones.

Actually making the change in Ubuntu.

Possible changes in affected tooling as these are discovered.

[Bug 2067745] Re: New upstream microrelease 2.5.18

2024-05-31 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]

   * MRE for the latest stable OpenLDAP 2.5.x release, 2.5.18.

This update includes bugfixes only following the SRU policy exception
  defined at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OpenLDAPUpdates.

  [ Major Changes ]

   * See the list of bugs fixed in this release here:

  https://lists.openldap.org/hyperkitty/list/openldap-
  annou...@openldap.org/thread/XF2SIAX2PSMXCMZPFT4L22FQS6C4EB6G/

  [ Test Plan ]

   * Upstream gitlab pipeline results:

https://git.openldap.org/openldap/openldap/-/commit/675b5165aa7efd75d0fc62bf8ae1a56ccc812284/pipelines?ref=OPENLDAP_REL_ENG_2_5

   * Upstream "call for testing":

  https://lists.openldap.org/hyperkitty/list/openldap-
  techni...@openldap.org/thread/AMIRX2ONUS4K6BGJXA6BZLS46JG7D7HQ/

   * As described in the MRE wiki page for OpenLDAP, the test plan is to
build the package in a PPA and make sure that (1) all build-time tests
pass and (2) all autopkgtest runs (from reverse dependencies) also pass.

   * Build log (amd64) confirming that the build-time testsuite has been
performed and completed successfully:
    - TBD

[ Where problems could occur ]

   * Upstream tests are always executed during build-time. There are many
reverse dependencies whose dep8 tests depend on OpenLDAP so the coverage
is good. Nevertheless, there is always a risk for something to break
since we are dealing with a microrelease upgrade. Whenever a test
failure is detected, we will be on top of it and make sure it doesn't
  affect existing users.

  [ Other Info ]

   * This is a reoccurring MRE. See below for links to previous OpenLDAP
  MREs.

   * CVEs fixed by this release:
     - None.

Current versions in supported releases that got updates:
-  TBD
+   openldap | 2.5.17+dfsg-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 | jammy-updates | source

  Special cases:
  - None.

  Previous MREs for OpenLDAP:

As usual we test and prep from the PPA and then push through
  SRU/Security as applicable.

2024-05-31 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

From DpkgTerminalLog.txt:

unable to create '/etc/ldap/ldap.conf.dpkg-new' (while processing
'./etc/ldap/ldap.conf'): Read-only file system

This indicates that there is another issue at play here. The root
filesystem seems to be read-only, and dpkg can't properly install the
package and its associated files. Could you provide more details
regarding your setup, please?

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as 'Incomplete'.

However, if you believe that this is really a bug in Ubuntu, then we would
be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem
with steps to reproduce, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu
rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug
status back to "New".

For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here:

[Bug 2067742] [NEW] SRu: CVE-2024-36041 Fix ksmserver: Unauthorized users can access session manager

2024-05-31 Thread Scarlett Gately Moore
Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

 * ksmserver: Unauthorized users can access session manager

 * CVE-2024-36041 security

[ Test Plan ]

 * KSmserver, KDE's XSMP manager, incorrectly allows connections via ICE
based purely on the host, allowing all local connections. This allows
another user on the same machine to gain access to the session
manager.

A well crafted client could use the session restore feature to execute
arbitrary code as the user on the next boot.

[Bug 2067738] [NEW] Error on display

2024-05-31 Thread Juliano Lopes
Public bug reported:

error in the screen display, in the upper right corner of the screen is
the button where I can turn off, lower or decrease the sound or change
my internet network, this is working, but below this button, there are
the close the page and minimize buttons , but I can't click on a certain
area, for example in Google Chrome, I can't click on the close,
minimize, settings, or change user buttons, the icon is there, but it's
like it's not clickable, this happens in all apps, when it's full screen
1920x1080, I can't click on anything in the top right corner. The only
way to click on these icons is by dragging the app or browser to the
left side or center of the screen, but this makes it impossible for the
user, every time they want to change something on the tab, they have to
drag it to the left side or center. , it's as if the top right corner
doesn't exist, this only happens in 1920x1080 resolution, in a lower one
I can click normally, but it's a very bad image

systemd specifies a Suggests: systemd-container. This is because it is
not a hard dependency, but instead something you might want (systemd-

use on Ubuntu). You can install all such packages with apt install

[Bug 2062951] Re: Random flickering with Intel i915 on Linux 6.8 (Ubuntu 24.04)

2024-05-31 Thread Christoph Wolk
Same problem here, using Kubuntu 24.04 on a fresh install (with Xorg).
Intermittent flickering of the whole screen; I could not determine a
specific pattern that caused it. Happened several times per day, usually
briefly but sometimes for several seconds.

Adding "i915.enable_dc=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=2" to the grub defaults
fixes the issue completely; no further flickering observed in about a
week of usage.

System: Thinkpad T470

lspci -s 00:02.0
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 620 (rev 02)

Let me know if any information or testing I could provide would help fix
this for others.

[Bug 2067730] [NEW] rust-imperative: FTBFS: unsatisfiable build-dependencies

2024-05-31 Thread Benjamin Drung
Public bug reported:

Imported from Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/1071889:

Package: src:rust-imperative
Version: 1.0.5-1
Severity: serious
Tags: ftbfs

Dear maintainer:

During a rebuild of all packages in unstable, your package failed to
build:

[...]
Install main build dependencies (apt-based resolver)

Installing build dependencies
Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  sbuild-build-depends-main-dummy : Depends:
librust-rust-stemmers-1+default-dev (>= 1.2.0-~~) but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
apt-get failed.
E: Package installation failed
Not removing build depends: cloned chroot in use

The above is just how the build ends and not necessarily the most relevant part.
If required, the full build log is available here:

https://people.debian.org/~sanvila/build-logs/202405/

About the archive rebuild: The build was made on virtual machines
of type m6a.large and r6a.large from AWS, using sbuild and a
reduced chroot with only build-essential packages.

If you could not reproduce the bug please contact me privately, as I
am willing to provide ssh access to a virtual machine where the bug is
fully reproducible.

If this is really a bug in one of the build-depends, please use
reassign and affects, so that this is still visible in the BTS web
page for this package.

Thanks.

Updating to pymatgen 2024.5.1 should fix that failure. That release
contains commit c1a610c259620509d47ca60db11a4ad32d085994 that adds
official support for Python 3.12.

Bug description:
When Multipath 0.8.8 to 0.9.3 is used with Ubuntu20.04 and especially
with 22.04, showing High CPU usage for systemd and multipathd
processes, making node unresponsive. Multipath 0.9.4 works just fine.
But as there is no official multipath package for 0.9.4 with Ubuntu
  20.04/22.04, need to compile.

The ask here is to have 0.9.4 available for Ubuntu 20.04 / 22.04.
Currently its available for 23.x versions.

I was able to use the Mantic package repo and install with 22.04 and
  make it work.

[Bug 2067722] [NEW] cephfs-mirror package is missing systemd unit files and manpage

2024-05-31 Thread Ponnuvel Palaniyappan
Public bug reported:

The missing unit file makes the cephfs-mirror essentially broken.

This is due to the upstream bug: https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/59682

We would have to SRU this to Squid, Reef, and Quincy.

[Bug 2061954] Re: filezilla crashed with SIGABRT in start_thread()

I have this bug, and the 3.66.5-2build2 package doesn't fix it.

   amd64Full-featured graphical FTP/FTPS/SFTP client
ii filezilla-common 3.66.5-2build2
all Architecture independent files for filezilla
ii libfilezilla-common 0.46.0-3.1build3
   all build high-performing platform-independent
programs (translations)
ii libfilezilla42t64:amd64 0.46.0-3.1build3
   amd64build high-performing platform-independent

I have enabled "noble-proposed", but no dice.

Instead, compiling the source code of filezilla and libfilezilla from
the official page (3.67.0 and 0.47.0) does work fine.

[Bug 2067672] Re: [SRU] Openssl copyright/changelog.Debian.gz file points at non-existent location

2024-05-31 Thread Adrien Nader
Hi and thanks for the patch.

Process-wise, the changes should land in oracular first and I don't
think I changed anything regarding that, even in my merge proposal for
3.2.1. I think we can integrate your patch in oracular in the version
that follows the 3.2.1 merge (I'd prefer not to respin my current merge
request) and which will also include at least afix for
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/+bug/1297025 (and
maybe a security patch too).

  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Feb 21 11:45 /usr/share/doc/libssl-
dev/changelog.gz -> ../libssl3/changelog.gz

but ../libssl3/changelog.gz doesn't exist.

This is on my list of things to do in the comings days, or weeks at
most.

I guess your main worry was the copyright file however.

[Bug 2065587] Re: Add explicit dependency on glib 2.80 to ease upgrades 22.04 → 24.04

2024-05-31 Thread Jeremy Bícha
We do actually need to keep this change since GNOME Shell 46.2 now
requires glib 2.80.

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/commit/11a10214

It does not need to be listed as an SRU bug though.
