Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 214577, so it is being marked as such. Please look at
the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you
can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug.
Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in
the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may
 find.

When you say included as part of the OS, do you mean it was installed by
default? Doesn't really seem that it should be.

kgraphviewer shows a blank screen

Hi Yuriy,

Thank you for the response. Even though the package isn't installed
along with the OS, the package does appear in the synaptic manager, when
I enabled multi verse. I believe that all the packages that show in the
synaptic manager(without third-party option being enabled) are approved
and tested by the Ubuntu community and developers ( which means that
package actually works when installed). Even though the package is free
of any inherent security flaws, the basic functionality of the package
isn't working. These are my thoughts and opinions on the packages. Do
correct me if I am wrong.

- Ashok.

That is correct, I just thought you implied it was installed by default,
which I think would be another bug.

Hi Yuriy,

Actually, I filed the bug at bugs.kde.org as u advised me last time. I
uploaded everything (sample file to run and debug trace) as requested by
the developer, but with no luck and the problem still isn't resolved in
its latest version (when I downloaded from svn trunk and tested). I know
that it's rude to pressurize developers since its a free software. But
since the package isn't working as this point, I don't understand why it
is still included as a part of ubuntu hardy heron. It's not enough to
file it as bug and let the developer take some months to apply a patch
for it ( which should be fine when it's a minor bug).

- Ashok.

[Bug 222315] [NEW] Kgraphviewer doesn't work in hardy heron

2008-04-25 Thread ashok
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kgraphviewer-kde4

I installed latest version of ubuntu (hardy heron), but kgraphviewer
still display a plain blank screen. The package is included as part of
the latest ubuntu OS. I feel inclusion of certain non-working packages
without sufficient testing certainly doesn't attract much users for
ubuntu. As a ubuntu user and a fan of open source community, I express
my deep concern. Ubuntu developers please take a note of this issue.

[Bug 63700] Re: Filenames cannot contain Hindi characters

2007-03-28 Thread Ashok Kumar
I am not sure, whether what I am writing is relevant or not, but the
problem relates to whole of Ubuntu 6.10.

I upgraded my Ubuntu 6.06 by 6.10 by gksudo command as given in the
alternate CD. I used to type regularly in Hindi in 6.06, but in the
upgraded version I am not able to proceed beyond one letter after which
only Backspace key seems to work.

Initially I thought that this is a problem of OpenOffice, but the same
observation was found in gedit also.

Fresh installation of Ubuntu 6.10 from alternate CD is free from this
problem.

Any idea, what needs to be done? I am otherwise waiting for 7.04 which
will have its own share of bugs.

2006-08-24 Thread Ashok Kumar
Recently I updated my OpenOffice as part of regular updates, which
stated that that it tackles issues related to xml to utf-8 conversions.
Later on I found file mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar in
~/.openoffice/user/java directory, which I included in my classpath.

The tables opened in OpenOffice Base. But when I clicked last record
button after opening a table having 500+ records, OpenOffice Base
crashed again.

Thereafter, I went to Add/Remove Programs, searched for Sun Java and
installed JRE 1.5.0_06. I changed my java environment from the one
provided with distribution 1.4.2 by Free Software Foundation.

It seems to work for me now!
