[Bug 606509] Re: Wine 1.2 Stable is released

2010-08-06 Thread austin_is
Wine developer here. FWIW, here's some of the big changes between 1.1.42 and
1.2:
more complete 64/32 bit wine sharing, better fonts on LCD's (fontconfig taken
from user settings), better support for .Net apps, long standing opening urls
in browser bug fixed, fixes for Microsoft Office 2007, uTorrent, AutoCAD,
Fallout 3, Starcraft 2

[Bug 583927] [NEW] libv4l needs 32-bit compatability libs when ia32-libs is installed on amd64

2010-05-21 Thread austin_is
Public bug reported:

configure: libv4l 32-bit development files not found.

configure: Finished. Do 'make' to compile Wine.

Wine needs libv4l, so I've installed libv4l-dev, just like any other
dependency, but since it lacks 32-bit compatibility libs in ia32-libs,
configure can't detect it.

Works fine when compiling in 64-bit mode, or on a 32-bit OS, of course.

seems there may be a bug in udev, if it's considering that a

Perfect, thanks! This worked in an older release, I suppose udev's
gotten smarter. I'll update the rule accordingly.

Thanks for your patience/help!

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: linux-firmware

Upon upgrade of a server running karmic from
linux-image-2.6.31-18-generic-pae to linux-image-2.6.31-20-generic-pae,
network connectivity was lost. dmesg reports:
  [ 77.481635] e100 :00:07.0: firmware: requesting e100/d101m_ucode.bin
  [ 137.473940] e100: eth0: e100_request_firmware: Failed to load firmware
e100/d101m_ucode.bin: -2

Googling around showed that the firmware may be missing, or not in the
correct location, however it is available in:

  /lib/firmware/e100/d102e_ucode.bin
  /lib/firmware/e100/d101s_ucode.bin
  /lib/firmware/e100/d101m_ucode.bin
  /lib/firmware/2.6.31-18-generic-pae/e100/d102e_ucode.bin
  /lib/firmware/2.6.31-18-generic-pae/e100/d101s_ucode.bin
  /lib/firmware/2.6.31-18-generic-pae/e100/d101m_ucode.bin
  /lib/firmware/2.6.31-20-generic-pae/e100/d102e_ucode.bin
  /lib/firmware/2.6.31-20-generic-pae/e100/d101s_ucode.bin
  /lib/firmware/2.6.31-20-generic-pae/e100/d101m_ucode.bin

downgrading to 2.6.31-18 or earlier did not resolve the problem. As a
workaround, I added another network card and reassigned the static ip to
  the new network card.

Yes, it's not there by default. I was desperate and tried putting it in

[Bug 530348] Re: e100: eth0: e100_request_firmware: Failed to load firmware e100/d101m_ucode.bin

2010-03-02 Thread austin_is
@Chase Douglas:

Something fishy may be going on...those debug messages weren't
triggered.

I used:
patch firmware.sh.patch
modprobe -r e100
modprobe e100
tail /var/log/syslog

which showed:
Mar 2 14:37:04 SERVER1 kernel: [407483.499357] e100: Intel(R) PRO/100 Network
Driver, 3.5.24-k2-NAPI

Mar 2 14:37:04 SERVER1 kernel: [407483.499499] e100 :00:07.0: PCI-APIC
IRQ transform: INT A - IRQ 23
Mar 2 14:37:04 SERVER1 kernel: [407483.522448] e100 :00:07.0: PME# disabled

0xfe87f000, irq 23, MAC addr 00:e0:81:29:37:a0

but none of your extra debug tracing. A full reboot shouldn't be needed
to trigger the firmware loader, should it?

I will bring it down for a reboot in a couple hours. If you need any
more debugging done not involving a reboot before then, please let me
know.

[Bug 530348] [NEW] e100: eth0: e100_request_firmware: Failed to load firmware e100/d101m_ucode.bin

2010-03-01 Thread austin_is
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-firmware

Upon upgrade of a server running karmic from linux-image-2.6.31-18-generic-pae
to linux-image-2.6.31-20-generic-pae, network connectivity was lost. dmesg
reports:
[ 77.481635] e100 :00:07.0: firmware: requesting e100/d101m_ucode.bin
[ 137.473940] e100: eth0: e100_request_firmware: Failed to load firmware
e100/d101m_ucode.bin: -2

Googling around showed that the firmware may be missing, or not in the
correct location, however it is available in:

/lib/firmware/e100/d102e_ucode.bin
/lib/firmware/e100/d101s_ucode.bin
/lib/firmware/e100/d101m_ucode.bin
/lib/firmware/2.6.31-18-generic-pae/e100/d102e_ucode.bin
/lib/firmware/2.6.31-18-generic-pae/e100/d101s_ucode.bin
/lib/firmware/2.6.31-18-generic-pae/e100/d101m_ucode.bin
/lib/firmware/2.6.31-20-generic-pae/e100/d102e_ucode.bin
/lib/firmware/2.6.31-20-generic-pae/e100/d101s_ucode.bin
/lib/firmware/2.6.31-20-generic-pae/e100/d101m_ucode.bin

downgrading to 2.6.31-18 or earlier did not resolve the problem. As a
workaround, I added another network card and reassigned the static ip to
the new network card.

On Jaunty, it works fine. Compiling wine as 64-bit also works fine. The
problem is the 32-bit compatibility libs for libmpg123-dev aren't
linking properly.

[Bug 425863] [NEW] libpng12-dev not providing 32-bit libraries (regression from Jaunty)

2009-09-07 Thread austin_is
Public bug reported:

I was on Jaunty, using libpng12-dev (among others) to compile wine.
Yesterday, upgraded to karmic and found that wine is not detecting
libpng as installed. It seems it only has 64-bit libraries, and no
32-bit as before.

[Bug 388052] [NEW] alien fails to convert deb to rpm

2009-06-16 Thread austin_is
Public bug reported:

Trying to convert a custom program (it's really simple, just a set of
files in /opt/program, and some shortcuts), fails when converting
through alien:

aus...@ubuntu:~$ rm -rf program-1.8.0/ ; sudo alien -r
program-1.8.0.1-1_i386.deb
[sudo] password for austin:
Warning: Skipping conversion of scripts in package program: postinst
Warning: Use the --scripts parameter to include the scripts.
Package build failed. Here's the log of the command (cd program-1.8.0 ;
rpmbuild -bb --target i386 program-1.8.0 -2.spec):
-2.spec: unknown option

An extra space is getting inserted somewhere...

I looked at the script a slight bit, removing '.$this-version.-' from
/usr/share/perl/5.10.0/Alien/Package/Rpm.pm then gives:
aus...@ubuntu:~$ rm -rf program-1.8.0/ ; sudo alien -r
program_1.8.0.1-1_i386.deb
Warning: Skipping conversion of scripts in package program: postinst
Warning: Use the --scripts parameter to include the scripts.
Package build failed. Here's the log of the command (cd program-1.8.0 ;
rpmbuild -bb --target i386 program-2.spec):
error: failed to stat /home/austin/program-1.8.0/program-2.spec: No such file
or directory

which of course fails. Perhaps I need to edit the .spec creation to
remove the version as well, but I haven't tried yet. I don't know
perl...

[Bug 388052] Re: alien fails to convert deb to rpm

2009-06-16 Thread austin_is
Contacted author to report bug upstream, he identified the problem
quickly. There is a trailing space on the $version in the debian control
file, which works for .deb, but chokes for rpm.

My problem is fixed, but the bug is still there. Ideally, alien should
strip off trailing spaces.

[Bug 244571] [NEW] Gproftpd eats 100% CPU when launched, blank menu

2008-07-01 Thread austin_is
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gproftpd

I'm about to go on a vacation, and before leaving, was checking our
ftp/fileserver for any problems and showing my coworker how to
administrate some things. When testing gproftpd, I found that it's
eating 100% of cpu, and never drawing it's screen. I'm not sure what's
changed between now and when it last worked. The box is an old dual cpu
pentium 3, running xubuntu feisty. Proftpd works fine, just can't do any
GUI configuration. Firefox/etc., are not eating crazy amounts of cpu, so
not sure what to investigate first. Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Bug 191575] Re: wine segfaults on winecfg

2008-03-07 Thread austin_is
Scott Richie asked me to comment here:

This is in a feisty vm running on a Windows XP host. I build wine from
git daily, in ~/wine-git/, but use WineHQ's repository to keep a copy of
the current stable release for bug testing (easier than recompiling the
stable each time I want to test it). My git copy runs fine, as did wine
0.9.54 from WineHQ. However, whenever I installed wine-0.9.55 from
WineHQ, it's failing every time. Gcc version is gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 (Ubuntu
4.1.2-0ubuntu4). Backtrace from the crash I'm seeing is attached. Please
let me know if any more information is needed.

[Bug 195824] [NEW] Wine crashes when ran from any folder other than build directory

2008-02-26 Thread austin_is
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wine

Wine, whether from winehq packages, built from git, or using ubuntu's
packages, is constantly crashing for me whenever run in a directory
other than the build directory. I am only seeing this error in a
virtualbox feisty machine (XP SP2 host), my feisty laptop and gutsy
desktop are not showing this problem. Downgrading wine does not solve
the problem, leading me to file a bug here. Terminal output/backtrace is
attached. I am available for any testing needed.

[Bug 195824] Re: Wine crashes when ran from any folder other than build directory

2008-02-26 Thread austin_is
Seems to be a problem with wine gecko. The current feisty package didn't
have this problem, gutsy's do. However, I'm a bit busy ATM, so I'll
close this as invalid now that I've found the problem. This bug has been
sending me on a wild goose chase for almost a week now...
