[Bug 1939455] Re: Upgrading from 20.0.4-2ubuntu1 to 21.0.3-0ubuntu0.2~20.04.1 breaks vlc video output

2021-09-15 Thread Avinash Sonawane
So, I upgraded from 20.04 to 21.04 to answer that question. And no, it
doesn't work in 21.04 hirsute either.

And now, since the last known working version 20.0.4-2ubuntu1 is not in
hirsute repos I can't downgrade to a working state. :/

```
$ apt policy mesa-vdpau-drivers
mesa-vdpau-drivers:
  Installed: 21.0.3-0ubuntu0.3
  Candidate: 21.0.3-0ubuntu0.3
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 21.0.1-2 500
$
```

This is the o/p I get:

Update: Downgrading mesa-vdpau-drivers from 21.0.3-0ubuntu0.2~20.04.1 to
20.0.4-2ubuntu1 fixed the issue.

So the issue is with the 21.0.3-0ubuntu0.2~20.04.1 version of mesa-
vdpau-drivers package apparently?

2021-08-10 Thread Avinash Sonawane
I could reproduce this issue with a freshly created dummy user account.

I should also note that as far as I remember, I started experiencing
this issue just after I upgraded my system today afternoon which
involved upgrading xserver and mesa driver packages etc.

Here are the packages which got upgraded just before observing this
issue: https://pastebin.com/raw/Apevt42K

[Bug 1939447] [NEW] Audio plays but no video in vlc

2021-08-10 Thread Avinash Sonawane
Public bug reported:

Hello!

I'm using vlc 3.0.9.2 Vetinari (revision 3.0.9.2-0-gd4c1aefe4d) on
Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS.

Whenever I try to open any video file with vlc, the vlc starts to play
the said file but there's no video. Instead there is a blank screen with
audio track playing, progress bar moving as expected. Everything is as
expected. It's just that there's no video.

This is the error message vlc throws:

I tried .mkv, .avi, .mp4 but got same result.

It should be noted that the files play perfectly with other video
players like smplayer, GNOME videos etc.

constSecretSchema*getSchema(void)
{

staticconst SecretSchema schema = {
"org.example.credentials",

GError *error = NULL;
SecretService *sec = secret_service_get_sync(SECRET_SERVICE_LOAD_COLLECTIONS,
NULL, );
_SecretCollection *collection = NULL;

collection = secret_collection_for_alias_sync(sec, SECRET_COLLECTION_DEFAULT,
SECRET_COLLECTION_LOAD_ITEMS, NULL, );
GList *items = secret_collection_get_items(collection);
for (unsignedinti = 0; i < g_list_length(items); i++)
{
SecretItem *item = (SecretItem *)g_list_nth_data(items, i);
std::stringlabel(secret_item_get_label(item));
if (label==CREDENTIALS_TOKEN_LABEL)

{
std::cout<<"Error: Cannot delete item:"/dev/null

fi

I get below results "sh ./

[Bug 1899952] [NEW] onionshare should not be in multiverse

2020-10-15 Thread Avinash Sonawane
Public bug reported:

Hello!

As per package info[0] onionshare is in multiverse. But since this[1]
Ubuntu help page says that "Multiverse - Software restricted by
copyright or legal issues" and onionshare is released under GPL[2],
oninshare should not be in multiverse.

It should be in Universe IMHO.

Thanks!

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1820859 ***

Oh my bad! Sorry, I missed that.

In my defense, while creating a new bug if we put "nautilus --version"
in summary field and then click "check", it doesn't show bug #1820859.
May be a bug for launchpad to fix the search...

[Bug 1423679] [NEW] no resume after suspend

2015-02-19 Thread Avinash Prasad
Public bug reported:

I had been using ubuntu 12.10, system resume after suspend worked fine. Now I
have upgraded to 14.04 LTS and the system does not resume after a suspend.
Also I would like to know if there's any way in which I can create a hotspot in
ubuntu using a WIFI connection. The inbuilt hotspot works like android, i.e.
the wifi connection stops as soon as the hotspot is created, I wish to use the
wifi connection to create a hotspot for my phone (just like connectify me
software on windows). Help me.

[Bug 758657] Re: plymouthd assert failure: plymouthd: ply-text-display.c:243: ply_text_display_write: Assertion `format != ((void *)0)' failed. (empty title field in text plugin theme)

2014-07-20 Thread avinash pawar
hello friends i was to find out solution for the error message i got while
attempting to install UBUNTU 12.04 LTS, and the only
result on google search were three pages, out of those three i am trying to
write on this page.

the error:
plymouthd: ply-text-display.c243: ply_text_display_write: Assertion format '!=
((void)=*0)'failed

I bought a Dell Vosrto 14 3000 series a week ago, which had UBUNTU 12.04
already installed. I want Windows 8 as well as UBUNTU on my new laptop.
I am willing to learn UBUNTU and i really know and understand nothing
about UDUNTU as of now.

What I told was that I cant install Windows 8 on UBUNTU but can vice a
versa. So I took backup of UBUNTU on a pen drive, uninstalled UBUNTU and
installed Windows 8 on one of three partitions. and i m now trying to
install UBUNTU on another. While doing so i get the above mentioned
error.

i really do not know what's happening and i want to be able to use
Windows as well as UBUNTU on my laptop.

Could somebody be kind enough to explain me how to resolve this issue
and could really somebody give me step to step instructions to
successfully install UBUNTU. Also i request to tell me the required
changes i need to do in the BIOS setup and in Windows 8 in order to
start the installation. All i could do till now is disable the Secure
Boot, Fast Boot, and I use My Pen Drive to boot the UBUNTU. Also, I have
created 3 partitions while installing Windows 8 and the partition on
which Windows 8 is installed shows BASIC type while the remaining 2 show
DYNAMIC type.

Thanking you friends.

Re: [Bug 1311625] Re: instalation crashed at the end of installation

2014-04-23 Thread Avinash Jirapure
Hi Brian,

Thanks for such a quick reply.

I tried to install Ubuntu 4 times and faced same crash. So on trial error
basis I tried two thing which actually worked.

1. Made Swap area size quite bigger (actually 10 GB)
2. While installation I disconnected my LAN connection so it should not
download any update while installing.

I really don't know which trick actually worked but this is just too update
you on bug.

[Bug 1260974] Re: package nvidia-OPENcl-dev not installed failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libOpenCL.so , which is also in package nvidia-libOPENcl1-331-update

2014-02-12 Thread Aditya Avinash
Hi,
This is what you do.

sudo apt-get remove nvidia-cuda-toolkit nvidia-opencl-dev

then,

sudo apt-get remove nvidia-331

then,

sudo apt-get install nvidia-cuda-toolkit nvidia-opencl-dev

then,

sudo apt-get install nvidia-331

The issue here is the clash between the shared library libOpenCL.so from
NVIDIA-Driver and the NVIDIA-Cuda-Toolkit.

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2013-05-24 Thread Aditya Avinash
The usability of windows is easier than ubuntu. Why? It's the mind that plays
the game. Every person i know is afraid to install ubuntu on their metal. Why?
Because they think of it as a geek, hacker, complex operating system.
Smart people use ubuntu. Why android is so popular even though it is an
open-source os? Because, you dont need to install extra libraries and packages
like N900. People like to have easy to deploy and start using utilities. When
i first installed ubuntu, it's a pain in the ass. I have formatted about 10
times to get the correct configuration. People hate to do that. Don't say to me
that i am wrong and novice. People you want to use them ubuntu are far dumber
than me.
Solution: Make more fuss about software center than using terminal. Geeks
thinks it's cool to use terminal. But, people hate it. Bring more apps to
ubuntu. Develop installers rather than installing from software center (at
least the softwares that are not present on software center).

[Bug 872044] Re: Bluetooth 'Send files' returns permission denied error

2012-10-23 Thread Avinash R
Hi,
I just upgraded to 12.04 (Xubuntu) from 11.10, like janitor claim in response
#105 (that it is fixed in 3.0.0-19.33), it is apparent that bug is yet to be
fixed (or is it a new bug?).

cat /proc/version gives me this output

Linux version 3.2.0-33-generic (buildd@lamiak) (gcc version 4.6.3
(Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #52-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 18 16:19:45 UTC
2012

I'm not being able to send files ftom computer to mobile. I tried to send
through 'blueman-sendto' interface, which failed, so i tried to browse and copy
the file to some directory. this crashes the filemanager (thunar).
Previously while using 11.10, there was no problem with bluetooth.I was able to
send files vice-versa.
I tried re-pairaing the connection and th output was same.

i hope someone would reply on this matter.

Thanks.

I also get the following error when I click 'Install Updates' under update

This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are
missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between
software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

Re: [Bug 776932] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 installer crashes during Grub updation/installation stage

2011-05-20 Thread Avinash Kumar
wel i guess those package which is to be removed never gets installed, i had
seen tremendous amount of delay in the installation of a specific package
and so there is all possibility that its installation was skipped before
continuing with rest of the installation process.

 For me installation failure happens whether I'm using USB or cdrom.
 There are packages that (apparently) need to be removed toward the end
 of installation -- this is where the installer is crashing.

  Ubuntu 11.04 installer crashes during Grub updation/installation stage

 Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

 Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

  i had downloaded the image file of ubuntu 11.04 from your website (32
  bit i386 desktop version) and burned the same to a blank cd using
  infrarecorder. the same error came up quite a few times, but worked
  once. since consecutive installations and uninstallations took up a
  lot of hard disk space, i had to delete extra partitions and reinstall
  once again, but went wrong once again, after apt config step where
  grub update/installation takes place. the checksum check didnt find
  any error with the iso file downloaded. i am able to use the desktop
  but some features seem to be working unsatisfactorily like inability
  in downloading mp3/mpeg2 codecs etc. Please help me solve this problem

[Bug 490537] [NEW] Error while Sending message. RCPT TO x...@abc.com failed: Relaying not allowed

2009-11-30 Thread Avinash Jadhav
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I'm using Evolution 2.28.1 and I'm getting an error when I send an email
to people who have different domain names (gmail.com / yahoo.com) I get
this error Error while Sending message. RCPT TO x...@abc.com failed:
Relaying not allowed

I can send emails within my organization (samedomain.com) but not to
other domain names. My colleagues who are using evolution are able to
send emails to other domains

I had no problems earlier but recently got some system updates just
wondering if those updates are causing this?

Kindly let me know how to fix this issue

Thanks  Regards

Avinash

[Bug 308260] Re: Can't install 'ubuntu-desktop'

2008-12-20 Thread Avinash Parnandi
Thanks for the reply.
Actually the problem was because of some broken packages.
I did this-opened up synaptic package manager and selected Custom Filters
(bottom left) then Broken that displays broken packages with a red box, I
uninstaled them, now it works fine.
