I cleaned up all unused dkms stuff from other versions of VirtualBox in /var/lib/dkms. Reinstalled and installed the virtualbox-ose-dkms package, getting again the error. Sorry, perhaps I've filed this in the wrong place. Thank you for the bug report, can I ask what version of Ubuntu and which version of the flashplugin-nonfree you are experiencing problems with? Can you install it via Synaptic/adept instead of terminal? (I am presuming not, but its worth a try). I've experienced the same problem. However I think I can provide a hint. When install is requested via sudo apt-get install flashplayer-nonfree, the process halts after a Downloading message. This seems to be a long standing problem with smbfs file system, as I've seen it happening in other releases.
