[Bug 1813511] Re: Gnome shell extensions disabled at every wakeup after sleep

2019-01-31 Thread Tugkan Batu
In a response on this thread

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1039694/18-04-appindicators-disappear-
after-every-reboot/1067237#1067237

it is suggested that

"The issue is caused by an old Unity app-indicator which is in the
system autostart. Remove it with sudo apt remove indicator-application
and reboot."

I did not want to mess up the system, so I did not try it before
confirming. But is it possible that this is the cause and the suggestion
is a viable fix?

[Bug 1743279] Re: QCA6174 stops working on newer kernels after second group rekeying

2018-08-02 Thread Tugkan Batu
Thanks Andre. I am not sure how to confirm whether "the dropouts were happening
exactly after the second group rekeying." The apparent behaviour fit the
descriptions well, so I assumed it might be related.
I saw the following command mentioned (possiblly, for diagnosis), but I was not
clear on what to expect):
cat /var/log/syslog | grep wpa_.*rekeying

How can I confirm whether my problems are related to the second group
rekeying?

Apologies if it turns out that my bug is not relevant to this bug entry.

[Bug 1743279] Re: QCA6174 stops working on newer kernels after second group rekeying

2018-08-02 Thread Tugkan Batu
Actually, not an upgrade but a downgrade seems to have solved my problem.
I have replaced the firmware file
/lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/firmware-6.bin with
firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00065-QCARMSWP-1
(which is what Ubuntu 17.10 might have had)
and I have not had a single outage after a whole day. Before the change, the
outages were very frequent.

So, it seems that the newer firmware files does not play nicely with my
WiFi.

Hopefully, this could help to rectify the problem on Ubuntu 18.04 with
the new driver versions. Please let me know if I can provide further
information to help for the diagnosis.

[Bug 1743279] Re: QCA6174 stops working on newer kernels after second group rekeying

2018-08-01 Thread Tugkan Batu
I think this bug affects me on Ubuntu 18.04 (it had not when I was on
17.10).

Following instructions for updating firmware at
https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/ath10k/firmware ,
I have replaced the firmware file
/lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/firmware-6.bin
(which is firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00079-QCARMSWPZ-1)
with
firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00110-QCARMSWP-1.

The problem persists. Do you think another update to the firmware file
is needed?

Re: [Bug 1536582] Re: Thunderbird lost subscribed IMAP folders

2018-07-14 Thread Tugkan Batu
Thanks, G.

This is no longer a problem. If I am not misremembering, I had later
found out that the issue was due to Microsoft's implementation of the
IMAP protocol at that time (after they updated their server). It was
eventually resolved.

Thanks,
Tugkan

[Bug 1536582] Re: Thunderbird lost subscribed IMAP folders

It looks like the cause of the problem was Microsoft making "updates" to its
IMAP implementation. It appears that they are working on a fix.

[Bug 1536582] [NEW] Thunderbird lost subscribed IMAP folders

2016-01-21 Thread Tugkan Batu
Public bug reported:

I am an Ubuntu 15.10 and Thunderbird 38.5.1 user. I connect to my employer's
Outlook/Office 365 servers via IMAP and SMTP.
Thunderbird version: 38.5.1+build2-0ubuntu0.15.10.1

On 20 January 2016, right after receiving a set of updates to some of
the installed packages, my Thunderbird client lost all the subscribed
IMAP folders (except Inbox and Deleted). Furthermore, even though I can
see my folders in the "Subscribe" dialogue window, I cannot seem to
resubscribe to them by just ticking folders and hitting "OK". Nothing
happens when I do that. When I check again, no folder is subscribed to.
I can still receive and send emails, even though I cannot copy messages
into my Sent folder, which normally used to happen automatically.

As a workaround, unticking "Show only subscribed folders" in Server
Settings > Advanced shows all folders on the IMAP server (after a
restart), subscribed or not, which is not quite desirable as many
unwanted folders pollute the folders list.

This happened to me on two separate machines running Ubuntu 15.10.

I cannot immediately spot a connection between the updated packages and
the problem I described, but I am including the list of the updated
packaged below in case it helps. There was also a Thunderbird update six
days ago (14 January), but it has been working fine until the updates on
20 January.

The problem has been experienced by at least one other person (see
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2310625).

Please let me know whether I can provide any further information to
diagnose the problem. Or, if you have any suggestions for me...

Thanks,
Tugkan

[Bug 277363] Re: skencil.py crashed with TypeError in delete()

2009-08-21 Thread batu
Hi All,
I just had a chance to test. I couldn't find skencil.0.6.17-17 in Jaunty
repository either so I downloaded the package from the link Nick provided:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/skencil/0.6.17-17/+build/1135758/+files/skencil_0.6.17-17_i386.deb
It is dependent on python-support0.90. I couldn't find anything above 0.87 in
Jaunty(main, proposed) so I downloaded the latest version for Karmic from:
http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/p/python-support/python-support_1.0.3ubuntu1_all.deb

After installing with dpkg I got 1 error message:
~/Desktop$ sudo dpkg -i python-support_1.0.3ubuntu1_all.deb
skencil_0.6.17-17_i386.deb
...

exist. % version_id_col)

Now I can run skencil. GUI comes up. As max wrote there must be a bug with the
menu bar. When I run skencil from the terminal I still get the following error
messages but it does not crash.

[Bug 252094] Re: Poor graphics performance and rendering errors on Intel GM965 system, Ubuntu 8.10

2008-11-20 Thread batu
Hi Festr,

Thanks for the input. But I am not sure what I am suffering is due to memory
management, since everything was working fine for me (configuration posted
above, lenovo 3000 v100) with hardy (8.04)...
Things started going wrong with the 3D acceleration only after Intrepid update.

Also I wanted to test xf86-video-intel 2.5 from git. However I am having
a problem with libdrm.la when I try to make. It seems like libdrm.la
was removed from libdrm package after version 2.3.0-1. Does anyone know
how to work around that problem?

I used to have decent performance with Google Earth (GE) on Hardy, but after
the upgrade to Intrepid I am having issues with rendering as well. Everything
seems fine, but whenever I try to run GE or World Wind Java I get this single
error message in /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Below are additional outputs that I can think of... These are on a Lenovo 3000

In HARDY glxinfo would give me a different date for MESA:
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 945GM 20061017 x86/MMX/SSE2

May be MESA might have something to do with this?

I used to have flicker problems on Hardy when I run GE with Compiz, so I
keep my compiz turned off. Though I tested to see if it was working and
I don't seem to have problems with wobbly windows etc. They seem to work
OK. Performance difference with/without DRI on Hardy was 6000/4000
frames with GLX gears and that made a huge difference in GE.

Just for the record, afaik GE needs SSE2 as well, and it is supported on the
laptop.
$ cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep sse2 -o
sse2
sse2

In general the performance is OK, but seems like something went wrong
with the 3D drivers... I hope the buffer underrun message in Xorg.log
or the date difference in MESA drivers can give someone an idea to fix
this.
