[Bug 564741] Re: multiple broadcast account windows popup when accounts not configured properly

2010-10-23 Thread bettlebrox
Same problem for me with 2.30.2-0ubuntu3. Also, I don't even have
Gwibber running and the popups occurs every few minutes and I have to
find the pid of the process and kill it. Very annoying behaviour and
I've purged it for the time being.

[Bug 194894] Re: [MASTER] Firefox reports Gecko Engine Version in "about:"

2009-07-30 Thread bettlebrox
Apologies for all the comments. I grep'ed through my profile for 2.0.0.8
and found this:

prefs.js:239:user_pref("general.useragent.extra.firefox",
"Firefox/2.0.0.8");

I used the firefox about:config view to reset it. I don't know how this
was set to 2.0.0.8.

Thanks

[Bug 194894] Re: [MASTER] Firefox reports Gecko Engine Version in "about:"

2009-07-30 Thread bettlebrox
A new profile show the correct version:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.12) Gecko/2009070811
Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Firefox/3.0.12

What in my existing profile could be causing the problem? As I said
above, I've been using this profile since the FF 2.x days and possibly
since the 1.x.

Thanks
Mick

yamo: No I don't have the UserAgentSwitch extension installed. I do have the
following extensions:

Novell Moonlight

Ubuntu Firefox Modifications
YSlow (disabled)

John: That is what I'm reported. This is Firefox 3.0.12, but the
UserAgent appears to be misreporting the version.

$apt-cache show firefox
Package: firefox
Priority: optional
Section: web
Installed-Size: 124
Maintainer: Alexander Sack

Source: firefox-3.0
Version: 3.0.12+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.04.1

Filename:
pool/main/f/firefox-3.0/firefox_3.0.12+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.04.1_all.deb
..

Also, in the Firefox About window (Help->About Mozilla Firefox), it
shows the FF version correctly in the image, but not in the text
underneath. This wasn't initially obvious as the version text isn't
visible unless I resize the window (see the attachment).

The FF profile I'm using is one that I've used since at least FF 2.x (on
previous Debian & Ubuntu systems).

[Bug 194894] Re: [MASTER] Firefox reports Gecko Engine Version in "about:"

2009-07-25 Thread bettlebrox
I have a similar problem. Except, it seems to be reporting the Firefox
(FF) version as 2.0.0.8:

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.12)

This is on Ubuntu Jaunty with the latest updates. I first noticed this
on the Kayak.com website which warned me that I using a verison of FF
older than 2.0.0.16.

I've attached a screen-shot.

Re: [Bug 373513] Re: mysql fails to install

2009-06-15 Thread bettlebrox
Problem solved!

I'd moved /var/lib to /home/var/lib (to save space) and made /var/lib a
symbolic link to that directory. This must have caused a problem with
apparmor, as per the line below:

Jun 15 19:19:02 micks-t400 kernel: [29451.814871] type=1503
audit(1245107942.002:30): operation="inode_create" requested_mask="a::"
denied_mask="a::" fsuid=0 name="/home/var/lib/mysql/micks-t400.lower-test"
pid=1895 profile="/usr/sbin/mysqld"

Copying /home/var/lib back to /var/lib (after removing the symbolic link)
fixed the problem, and mysql installed successfully.

[Bug 90378] Re: Should make downloaded files-read only

2009-03-03 Thread bettlebrox
>This is a bug in the application that you're using to edit the files.
No I don't think it is a bug in the application that I'm using to edit the
files, it's the behaviour of the application I'm using to download the files,
in this case Firefox.

For example, if I download a word document, Firefox saves it with 644
permissions to my default download location. If instead I choose to
"open" the file (using FF's "Open With" dialog window) it saves the file
to /tmp with 400 permissions and the file is unwriteable. This is not
the same behaviour that (I remember) with Hardy, and to me it's not a
feature enhancement as it reduces my productivity. However, I do see
where this could be beneficial new Linux & Ubuntu users who might be
aware that the file is in /tmp and may be removed upon reboot.

I would like to have the option to change this behaviour, or at least
know where this is set so I can determine how to change the behaviour
myself.

>Relying on this is probably a bad idea.
It's worked OK for me for the past 10 years! ;)

/tmp normally is cleaned automatically upon reboot. The length of time
files are retained in /tmp can be configured via the /etc/default/rcS
configuration file. By default this is set to zero which means that no
files will be retained in /tmp upon restart.

[Bug 90378] Re: Should make downloaded files-read only

2009-03-03 Thread bettlebrox
How does one disable ths behaviour in Firefox?

I often have Firefox save and open files in /tmp, and I find it a real
pain to have to chmod the files so I can edit them. And I find it quite
useful to save files in /tmp that I want to edit but I don't want to
save long term as I know they'll be deleted upon reboot (instead of
having them cluttering up my Desktop or ~/Documents directory).

[Bug 330300] Re: uqm recommends/suggests packages that don't exist

2009-02-16 Thread bettlebrox
Thanks, found it mentioned in /usr/share/doc/uqm-content/README.Debian .
It just seems weird to suggest packages that aren't in the system by
default.

However, On my Debian testing desktop, both uqm-voice & uqm-music are available
the default repos. Looks like they are both in Lenny, which means the comments
in the README might be out-of-date.
http://packages.debian.org/lenny/uqm-music
http://packages.debian.org/lenny/uqm-voice

And the readme at the alternative Debian repo ( http://uqm.debian.net/README )
says:
This site is deprecated: The packages are in debian non-free now for unstable
and testing.

Which means they could be included in Ubuntu in the future.

[Bug 164254] Re: tzdata upgrade: /usr/sbin/tzconfig: No such file or directory

2007-11-26 Thread bettlebrox
To get past the install error I edited line 27 of
/var/lib/dpkg/info/tzdata.postinst and replaced /usr/sbin/tzconfig with
/usr/bin/tzselect:

Before:

else
echo "Running 'tzconfig' to set this system's timezone."
/usr/sbin/tzconfig
fi
After:

 else
echo "Running 'tzselect' to set this system's timezone."
/usr/bin/tzselect
fi

[Bug 164254] Re: tzdata upgrade: /usr/sbin/tzconfig: No such file or directory

2007-11-26 Thread bettlebrox
Sneb it's not the same error as what I reported.

With mine it can't find the executable /usr/sbin/tzconfig . Searching through
the package names returns no package in gutsy that has tzconfig:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/search_contents.pl?word=tzconfig&searchmode=searchfiles&case=insensitive&version=gutsy&arch=i386

This is holding back any other packages from upgrading or installing.
