[Bug 1014782] [NEW] Xorg crash with floating evdev mouse pointer
Public bug reported: Xorg crashes on my system when I configure an InputDevice with a floating mouse, since I'm trying to create a multiseat system (using 2 videocards, 2 mice, 2 keyboards in one PC, see http://linuxgazette.net/124/smith.html ). A floating keyboard in an InputDevice section works as a charm and isolates the keyboard to the specified 'seat'. [Bug 920959] [NEW] FTDI USB serial FT232RL regression, requires toggling flow control
Public bug reported: After restarting yesterday (after +/-23 days), the Linux kernel updates got effective and rendered my USB serial ports unusable until I toggled the flow control off and then on again. Before the update I could use my serial ports without problems at 460800 baud, with flow control. I normally use my cross-platform application to access the serial port, but the problem is also visible with socat. [Bug 741284] Re: [i965gme] severe 2D performance degradation after upgrade to Maverick
Just installed Natty Narwall, here are the updated performance numbers - with Xephyr: my GUI with 10xmathplot 28%, Xephyr 24%, Xorg 7%, CPU - native X: my GUI with 10xmathplot 10%, Xorg 97% CPU I'll run apport-collect for this bug-number now the laptop is upgraded to natty. ** Tags added: natty ubuntu ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I recently upgraded to Maverick and since then the graphics performance of certain 2D programs severely degraded. Especially programs that use wxMathplot with real-time plot updates are affected and show very high CPU on the xorg process and much lower responsiveness of the application. When I run the same program within Xephyr, the CPU load is much less, also when I run it under ms-windows in VirtualBox. I have tried the stable ppa update for xorg-intel, but this didn't make much difference. I have done performance analysis with oprofile (on my own applications that uses 10 wxMathplot plots) and found that the the kernel (55%) and libdrm_intel (15%) are eating most of the CPU time. I created a slightly modified version of sample3 of wxMathplot that shows the CPU impact of 2D operations. Directly under X, CPU usage is as follows: 53% for Xorg and 14% for mpSample3. Under Xephyr, CPU usage is 10% for xorg, 15% for mpSample3 and 11% for Xephyr. I'll attach the source of this modified sample, and if required more of the oprofile log. [Bug 741284] Re: [i965gme] severe 2D performance degradation after upgrade to Maverick
Just tried the same comparison between Xephyr and native X on another laptop with ubuntu maverick and slightly different intel card. I see the similar difference in speed, although this laptop stays more responsive: - with Xephyr: my GUI with 10xmathplot 23%, Xephyr 22%, Xorg 4%, CPU - native X: my GUI with 10xmathplot 7%, Xorg 96% CPU I'll upgrade this laptop to natty and see if there is any difference. I'll run apport-collect first for this bug-number. ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I recently upgraded to Maverick and since then the graphics performance of certain 2D programs severely degraded. [Bug 450672] [NEW] libqdbm++-dev doesn't find own includes
Public bug reported: When I include the qdbm headers like this (since they are under /usr/include/qdbm): #include #include #include I get the following problems during compilation with g++: /usr/include/qdbm/vista.h:31:19: error: depot.h: No such file or directory /usr/include/qdbm/vista.h:32:19: error: curia.h: No such file or directory /usr/include/qdbm/vista.h:33:19: error: cabin.h: No such file or directory /usr/include/qdbm/vista.h:126:19: error: villa.h: No such file or directory ... This is due to the fact that these headers assume they are not in a subdirectory, i.e. they include each other as follows (from vista.h): #include #include #include Clearly they should include from the install directory in /usr/include/qdbm (else every developer has to add /usr/include/qdbm to its include path) by either using the path relative to /usr/include: #include #include #include or in the same directory: #include "depot.h" #include "curia.h" #include "cabin.h" Similar issues can be found in the other /usr/include/qdbm/* include files. I got a resolution to this in the ubuntu forum: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=5025680#post5025680 Resolution in hardy is to remove the package xserver-xgl which seems obsolete, and optionally switch to normal numeric keypad using System/Preferences/Keyboard/MouseKeys tab and unselect "Allow to control the pointer using the keyboard". -- Xgl crash when pressing numeric keypad https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227698 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 227698] Re: Xgl crash when pressing numeric keypad
I just got another Xgl followed by compiz crash by pressing a key on the keypad, note that the compiz crash is different from above. Or does the Xgl crash take down compiz? [Bug 227698] [NEW] Xgl crash when pressing numeric keypad
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xgl Dear all, I upgraded to ubuntu hardy (8.04) a week ago (and am up-to-date with current patches) and now get Xgl (Installed: 1:1.1.99.1~git20080115-0ubuntu1) and Compiz (Installed: 1:0.7.4-0ubuntu6) crashes that take down my X session when I press the 7 (Home) button (or any other) on the numeric keypad of my keyboard. This happens every time, regardless of the NumLock status. I have visual effects set to extra, my card is an Nvidia: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV15 [GeForce2 GTS/Pro] (rev a4), I have a Dell AT101W keyboard. The Xorg log is attached. I opened a thread on ubuntu forum (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=785176), but did not get a reaction there. There are no indications in the Xorg logfiles, only in the kernel log: May 7 10:28:59 workhorse kernel: [328395.638155] Xgl[11488]: segfault at 0083 eip 0818db66 esp bfd2dfa0 error 4 May 7 10:32:03 workhorse kernel: [328579.834343] Xgl[20404]: segfault at 0083 eip 0818db66 esp bfbdb520 error 4 May 7 10:45:20 workhorse kernel: [329376.114487] Xgl[21088]: segfault at 0083 eip 0818db66 esp bf922390 error 4 May 7 10:45:20 workhorse kernel: [329376.148987] compiz.real[21267]: segfault at 04fb043b eip 08055a6d esp bffedb20 error 4 May 7 10:47:31 workhorse kernel: [329507.195963] Xgl[11093]: segfault at 0083 eip 0818db66 esp bf99c340 error 4 May 7 10:47:35 workhorse kernel: [329510.405570] agpgart: Found an AGP 2.0 compliant device at :00:00.0.
