[Bug 1931612] Re: Print dialog box shows same printer twice
Hello again, Timur, Thanks for pushing this upstream. In your first post you said: > Applications that have their own print dialog box do not > have this problem. For example, Firefox shows only my > printer once. Same thing with Libre Office. LibreOffice gets all its print dialog entries via cups. It does not use the GTK print dialog. That is why the issue does not show up there. In which of your applications does the issue appear? Also, what is your Firefox version? [Bug 1931612] Re: Print dialog box shows same printer twice
The print dialog box is generated GTK. The Printers system setup dialog is probably generated by Qt. Stop cups: systemctl stop cups Which entry remains in the GTK print dialog box? I would guess - the first one. Therefore cups is not involved in its display. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931612 Title: Print dialog box shows same printer twice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1931612/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1811504] Re: scan with Laserjet MFP-M28 fails
I would not have revisited this bug report if it had not been for https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1840842 Now I find it is fixed. However, I feel like complaining about the way the issue has been treated. 1. Bug reported on 2019-01-12; fix announced on 2019-07-17. A 6 month wait. 2. In 3.19.6, models.dat still has "plugin=0". Why then is a plugin required? Nobody has ever explained. 3. "scan-type=9" is still undocumented. 4. The Release Notes for 3.19.6 have absolutely no mention of this bug (or any other bug) being fixed. Talk about keeping everyone in the dark. I regard this lack of changelog detail as a serious defect. 5. Correct information about the cause or origin of the issue is completely lacking. If upstream do not know, at least say so; we are not mushrooms. :) 6. HPLIP is important, quality software. [Bug 1738432] Re: Regression, poor user experience, print dialogs garbled by unidentifiable driverless printers
You were very clear in your first message that cups-browsed had been stopped. I can think of a reason for your observations (and why disabling avahi-daemon is a way of not seeing network discoverd printers) but it depends on what applications you are using. This is why I was interested in the answers to the questions, particularly > In which print dialogs do the driverless extra printers > appear? Of which applications? I am going to assume (not my usual practice!) that the issue is seen with Firefox and Evince. Next time you observe these printers appearing. stop cups on the client. Are they still in the print dialog? (Stopping cups stops cups-browsed. Starting cups-browsed also starts cups). -- Brian. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1738432 Title: Regression, poor user experience, print dialogs garbled by unidentifiable driverless printers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1738432/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1589897] [NEW] hpps is unable to function without access to the output device
Public bug reported: When diagnosing a printing problem by manually running individual print filters, hpps fails if DEVICE_URI is not set in the environment. [Bug 973564] Re: imagetopdf crashes with cupsfilters
Considering I had spent an hour or two on this earlier today it was very remiss of me not to have tested with a PPD file defined in both command lines. Had I done so maybe I would not have reported a bug. I find it convenient to use cupsfilter to batch process text and image files so let the failure of imagetopdf cloud my judgement. Thank you. [Bug 526482] Re: Firefox don't save print settings
With CUPS and *some* drivers Firefox honours all the print queue parameters *except* resolution. It initially offers 300dpi irregardless of the queue settings and without lpoptions being invoked on the client machine. I am not concerned with the setting sticking if changed by a user as I believe the only sticky setting should be the one which Firefox has got from lpoptions -l It knows what it is but for some reason it insists that the queue resolution must be 300dpi in spite of being informed it is something else like 600dpi. It is not even consistent in its view because it only does this with some drivers. Why? The ppd produced by the CUPS+Gutenprint v6.2.6 has the line *Resolution 300dpi/300x300 DPI: "<>setpagedevice" Change 300dpi to 301dpi or 300dp or 300x300dpi. Now the Firefox print dialogue displays the correct queue resolution. Firefox has no problem with the Foomatic/pixmono (en) driver. If a queue is 150dpi in resolution Firefox displays that. No defaulting to 300dpi in this case. Its ppd has *PrinterResolution 300x300dpi/300 DPI: "%% FoomaticRIPOptionSetting: PrinterResolution=300x300dpi" Note the difference in the format. My theory is Firefox looks for 300dpi and defaults to that value if it is found. If not found it displays the queue value it already knows. It should stop doing this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/526482 Title: Firefox don't save print settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/526482/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
