I cannot provide such tags without > performing review or testing. Unfortunately I cannot do the review because > it is not an area of my expertise. About testing - I simply cannot test it. Thanks Krzysztof for your response. Of course, you should give Reviewed- by and Tested-by only if you actually do it. Sorry, if I assumed the details here. When I asked for the tags, what I meant was that if someone from Canonical can actually review and test the patch and then send their Reviewed-By, Tested-by. Sorry for the misunderstanding and I hope it is clarified now. In case it helps, I guess it should be possible to test it on any x86/Power system by embedding your own generated key in .platform keyring using this patch and ensure verified kexec on secure boot enabled system. > > Instead, you or your colleagues should engage in discussions with > open-source upstream community and resolve the kbuild reported bugs and > address raised concerns (about missing use-case). --- Comment From marius.hillenbr...@ibm.com 2021-09-24 05:16 EDT--- Hello, I have tested the new packages in hirsute on s390x and confirm that they fix the reported bug. Systems: s390x with hirsute and hirsute-proposed added to apt sources, amd64 with Fedora (currently have no Ubuntu environment on an amd53 system). TEST CASE: - start tigervncserver :1 on s390x - connect with VNC client (vinagre) from amd64 - start xterm, xclock, xlogo, xeyes - connect with ssh -X from amd64 to s390x system, then start xtigervncviewer :1 on s390x Test case executed once with tigervnc from hirsute and once again after upgrading the tigervnc packages (tigervnc-common, tigervnc-standalone- server, tigervnc-viewer, tigervnc-xorg-extension) to hirsute-proposed. VERIFICATION DONE Incorrect colors reproduce when running xtigervncviewer on s390x with X11 forwarding to amd64 with hirsute packages (i.e., bug reproduces). Colors are displayed correctly when running xtigervncviewer on s390x with X11 forwarding to amd64 with packages from hirsute-proposed. [Bug 1944508] [NEW] [P10] CAS : last kernel not auto booted
Public bug reported: == Comment: #0 - Frederic Bonnard - 2021-04-26 02:32:28 == Hi, testing Debian/Ubuntu installation with OpenQA on a P10 LPAR with a virtual optical device, the LPAR boots the iso till grub menu. First entry is selected and Enter gets pressed. The kernel starts and calls ibm,client-architecture-support . My understanding is that either it returns or reboots with the new feature set and in which case, the grub menu shouldn't pop out again and the last booted kernel should be used with the same parameters. But it is not the case at the moment, the iso grub menu pops out again. This does not happen all the time. Sometimes the kernel does not reboot and (maybe the required settings are ok but in this case, I don't know how it got set). Here is a video showing this behavior on Debian (kernel 5.10.0-6, grub 2.04, http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/ppc64el/daily/netboot/mini.iso). Same on Ubuntu 20.04 daily (kernel 5.4.0-72.80, grub 2.04, http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/focal/daily-live/current/focal-live-server-ppc64el.iso) Regards, F. == Comment: #1 - Frederic Bonnard - 2021-04-26 02:33:14 == == Comment: #2 - Frederic Bonnard - 2021-04-26 02:33:48 == == Comment: #3 - Diego Pereira Domingos - 2021-04-29 10:52:18 == Hi Fr?deric, we will need to push the required patches for CAS reboot into UBUNTU/DEBIAN. == Comment: #8 - Diego Pereira Domingos - 2021-08-09 08:54:07 == == Comment: #10 - Diego Pereira Domingos - 2021-08-10 08:13:10 == Hello Canonical, we need this patch in grub so it can support CAS reboot for ppc64le Thanks ** Affects: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu on IBM Power Systems Bug Triage (ubuntu-power-triage) Status: New ** Tags: architecture-ppc64le bugnameltc-192533 severity-medium targetmilestone-inin--- ** Tags added: architecture-ppc64le bugnameltc-192533 severity-medium targetmilestone-inin--- -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1944508 Title: [P10] CAS : last kernel not auto booted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1944508/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- Comment From i...@de.ibm.com 2021-08-11 14:45 EDT--- Oh, sorry, I forgot that you can't use the IBM BZ links. I indeed had the following diffs in mind: 1. #ifndef Z_IFUNC_ASM local #endif -unsigned long (*(crc32_z_ifunc(void)))(unsigned long, const unsigned char FAR *, z_size_t) +unsigned long (*(crc32_z_ifunc( +#ifdef __s390__ +unsigned long hwcap +#else +void +#endif +)))(unsigned long, const unsigned char FAR *, z_size_t) { #if _ARCH_PWR8==1 #if defined(__BUILTIN_CPU_SUPPORTS__) 2. #endif #endif /* _ARCH_PWR8 */ +#ifdef HAVE_S390X_VX +if (hwcap & HWCAP_S390_VX) +return s390_crc32_vx; +#endif + /* return a function pointer for optimized arches here */ 3. static unsigned long ZEXPORT (*crc32_func)(unsigned long, const unsigned char FAR *, z_size_t) = NULL; if (!crc32_func) -crc32_func = crc32_z_ifunc(); +crc32_func = crc32_z_ifunc( +#ifdef __s390__ +getauxval(AT_HWCAP) +#endif +); return (*crc32_func)(crc, buf, len); } I think the latest debdiff still misses the second one (the getauxval() call is still there): ++#if defined(__s390__) && defined(S390_CRC32_VX) ++if (getauxval(AT_HWCAP) & HWCAP_S390_VX) ++return s390_crc32_vx; ++#endif A couple nits: - changelog: it's dfltcc, not dltss (yeah, the name is super weird :-)) - "/* Work around a probable bug in glibc when invoking getauxval in the ifunc */" - I don't think it's actually a bug, since https://sourceware.org/glibc/wiki/GNU_IFUNC says that: When LD_BIND_NOW=1 or -Wl,z,now is in effect symbols must be immediately resolved at startup. In cases where an external function call depends needs to be made that may fail if such a call has not been initialized yet (PLT-based relocation which is processed later). For example calling strlen in an IFUNC resolver built with -Wl,z,now may lead to a segfault because the PLT is not yet resolved. This may work on x86_64 where the R_*_IRELATIVE relocations happen in DT_JMPREL after the DT_REL* relocations, but that is no guarantee that it will work on AArch64, PPC64, or other architectures that are slightly different. Such fundamental limitations may be lifted at a future point. What's surprising is rather that, given this paragraph, the code nevertheless works and there doesn't seem to be an obvious glibc commit that lifts this limitation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1932010 Title: [21.10 FEAT] zlib CRC32 optimization for s390x To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1932010/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- Comment From i...@de.ibm.com 2021-08-11 10:36 EDT--- I think it rather has to do with glibc - ifunc are normally called quite early and therefore cannot use the dynamically resolved symbols, but maybe newer glibcs tolerate that. --- Comment From l...@ibm.com 2021-07-30 10:31 EDT--- > Do you have any suggestion on how I can reproduce the "rpmem_fip/TEST0" > issue you are hitting? Thanks! Hi @paride. I spent some time trying to identify the issue. Indeed it occurs with the provided package. Here is some steps to test it: 1. Install the provided librpmem and libfabric 2. Clone PMDK repository https://github.com/pmem/pmdk.git 3. Checkout to branch stable-1.10 4. Compile 5. Configure src/test/testconfig.sh. I will put an example on the end of the message - To do that copy the testconfig.sh.example to testconfig.sh. Fill it with the configurations for your system. - Be sure to set the variable PMDK_LIB_PATH_NONDEBUG with the path to librpmem.so. - As you are not on a DAX device use PMEM_FS_DIR_FORCE_PMEM=1. - As this will be a librpmem test we need to configure the node variables. Also ssh keys must be configured to access the nodes without password. For example, using the testconfig.sh bellow you will need to run "ssh-copy-id 127.0.0.1" 6. Inside the src/test/ directory run "./RUNTESTS -b nondebug rpmem_fip -s TEST0". This will run only one rpmem_fip/TEST0 for nondebug. It's enough to reproduce the error Here is an example of testconfig.sh: PMEM_FS_DIR=/tmp/pmem-fs.d NON_PMEM_FS_DIR=/tmp/non-pmem-fs.d PMEM_FS_DIR_FORCE_PMEM=1 PMDK_LIB_PATH_NONDEBUG=/usr/lib/powerpc64le-linux-gnu/ TEST_BUILD="nondebug" TEST_TIMEOUT=6m TM=1 KEEP_GOING=y CLEAN_FAILED=y UNITTEST_LOG_LEVEL=0 UNITTEST_LOG_LEVEL=1 NODE[0]=127.0.0.1 NODE[1]=127.0.0.1 NODE[2]=127.0.0.1 NODE[3]=127.0.0.1 NODE_ADDR[0]=127.0.0.1 NODE_ADDR[1]=127.0.0.1 NODE_ADDR[2]=127.0.0.1 NODE_ADDR[3]=127.0.0.1 NODE_WORKING_DIR[0]=/tmp/node0 NODE_WORKING_DIR[1]=/tmp/node1 NODE_WORKING_DIR[2]=/tmp/node2 NODE_WORKING_DIR[3]=/tmp/node3 NODE_ENV[0]="PMEM_IS_PMEM_FORCE=1" NODE_ENV[1]="PMEM_IS_PMEM_FORCE=1" NODE_ENV[2]="PMEM_IS_PMEM_FORCE=1" NODE_ENV[3]="PMEM_IS_PMEM_FORCE=1" TEST_PROVIDERS=sockets -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931063 Title: [SRU] Include powerpc port upstream fixes to librpmem 1.10 on pmdk package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1931063/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- Comment From ifran...@de.ibm.com 2021-07-30 07:40 EDT--- I have enhanced the opencryptoki EC testcases to perform some tests with invalid EC keys, to trigger that the key check code is executed. Please take a look at this commit in my github clone of opencryptoki: https://github.com/ifranzki/opencryptoki/commit/779df741f1724c9276ea90bd760f0dd4d7733fc2 Please not that some of the tests may also pass without the EC key check fix (i.e. get an expected error, but maybe from another place or for another reason in the code), but at least with the fix it will run through the EC key check code added by the fix. I will eventually also make this testcase enhancement available in the master branch of opencryptoki, once you confirmed that it is what you are looking for. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1928780 Title: [UBUNTU 21.04] openCryptoki: Soft token does not check if an EC key is valid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1928780/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- Comment From l...@ibm.com 2021-07-29 10:36 EDT--- @pride I'm getting the above issue with the librpmem tests. I've tried testing the upstream code and the issue still stays on Ubuntu. However I don't get this on other distros, so I'm suspecting it's some libfabric issue. rpmem_fip/TEST0: SETUP (check/none/nondebug/sockets/GPSPM) A process has executed an operation involving a call to the fork() system call to create a child process. As a result, the libfabric EFA provider is operating in a condition that could result in memory corruption or other system errors. For the libfabric EFA provider to work safely when fork() is called, you will need to set the following environment variable: RDMAV_FORK_SAFE However, setting this environment variable can result in signficant performance impact to your application due to increased cost of memory registration. You may want to check with your application vendor to see if an application-level alternative (of not using fork) exists. Your job will now abort. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931063 Title: [SRU] Include powerpc port upstream fixes to librpmem 1.10 on pmdk package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1931063/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
