[Bug 444950] Re: sound stops working with pulseaudio

2011-01-03 Thread buntunub
This bug also hit me on Kubuntu Lucid 64bit pretty hard, like ever since
release kinda hard. I have dealt with it in the past by sudo apt-get
remove --purge pulseaudio, but I would really like to fix this. I
reinstalled pulse and double checked the setup with Phonon and all
should be working well, but no. Scratchy sounds and eventually I get the
overflowing logs with ratelimit.c overflows.

[Bug 373979] Re: nfsv4 on Jaunty client causes nfs servers to spew time out errors

2009-07-03 Thread buntunub
Update to this. I installed Archlinux GNOME and the issue went bye bye.
This, along with a few other tests I ran leads me to strongly suspect
Knetworkmanager as being the culprit. I believe a workaround might be
using WICD or GNOME network manager, but never really had a chance to
fully test that.

[Bug 374717] [NEW] ntp in kubuntu jaunty does not configure

2009-05-10 Thread buntunub
Public bug reported:

NTP will not set or configure properly in Kubuntu Jaunty System Setting
Panel when set to "Set date and Time automatically", and using any of
the preselectable sources. On initial install when selecting ntp it does
not offer to automatically setup ntp. In this case I manually installed
ntp and then went back and reselected to set date and time automatically
from the system panel and I get the below kernel dump --

May 11 00:30:19 davemc-desktop kernel: [ 84.556029] Clocksource tsc

This does not show wether it is syncing, but I do not think so as it is
so off base.

[Bug 373979] Re: nfsv4 on Jaunty client causes nfs servers to spew time out errors

2009-05-09 Thread buntunub
Here is the thread that speaks to this exact issue.

http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.nfsv4

In short, the guys say that its a harmless string, but as you can see
from my server logs, this is troublesome because of the overabundance of
the strings and how large my /var is filling up. The thread also speaks
to a patch that was put into the 2.6.27 kernel to turn off printing. If
thats the case, then can this patch be backported to the Hardy kernel so
the LTS release can get this fix as well?

And that does happen every boot, but I guess thats yet another bug to
follow up on with Jaunty..

Anyway, I have googled up on this nfs issue quite a lot and from what I
have noticed, upstream seems to not really take too much stock in this
issue as it seems to be some type of harmless call back issue that is
harmless as far as the protocol goes. Above my head though so I am
really clueless as to this, but considering this issue never cropped up
with Fedora10 when I had that loaded on this same client, nor with
Hardy, same machine, one would have to assume that whatever was done
with the Jaunty kernel is causing this problem. I also disabled the
firewall, and modified the fstab with "clientaddr=192.168.11.3",
thinking THAT might be causing a problem, but no joy!

[Bug 373979] [NEW] nfsv4 on Jaunty client causes nfs servers to spew time out errors

2009-05-08 Thread buntunub
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nfs-kernel-server

Since installing Kubuntu Jaunty (fresh install, remapped /home) I now
have been getting constant client time out errors on my 32 bit Hardy nfs
server. This ONLY happens with the Jaunty client (I have other clients
and get no errors with them). Logs below but here is a sample dump:

May 9 01:57:24 dave234 kernel: [177807.957370] nfs4_cb: server 192.168.11.3
not responding, timed out
May 9 01:58:24 dave234 kernel: [177867.954953] nfs4_cb: server 192.168.11.3
not responding, timed out
May 9 01:59:24 dave234 kernel: [177927.944540] nfs4_cb: server 192.168.11.3
not responding, timed out
May 9 02:00:24 dave234 kernel: [177987.942121] nfs4_cb: server 192.168.11.3
not responding, timed out

This was also linked to another bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/253004 in which that same
server would lock up due to these constant errors caused by the Jaunty client.
The fix for this was patched and I am now running that patched kernel. No
server lockups have occured since, but the primary error still continues and is
that needs fixing.

[Bug 253004] Re: Oops in sunrpc:rpc_shutdown_client

2009-05-05 Thread buntunub
I have run into this bug as well. My server is running 8.04.3, uname -r,
2.6.24-24-generic, on an i686 kernel. I have one client that is also
running the same kernel and causes no issues. The other client which
does cause this bug is running Kubuntu, kernel 9.04 2.6.28-11-generic.
Only the Kubuntu Jaunty kernel causes the NFS server to bug out with a
steady stream of: "nfs4_cb: server (client machine IP addr) not
responding, timed out", every 60 seconds until the server locks up hard.
Is this fix going to work on various versions of Ubuntu clients running
on a Hardy server?

[Bug 234503] [NEW] mythtv + default compiz = no window borders in windowed mode

2008-05-23 Thread buntunub
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv

With Ubuntu Hardy's default compiz settings on, running Mythtv in
windowed mode results in no window borders. With compiz disabled, window
borders show. This is a problem for me because I need awn, which must
have compiz enabled.

Re: [Bug 191968] Re: OpenOffice copy and paste function does not work

2008-02-18 Thread buntunub
Not sure off hand which ooo version since its on my laptop and I dont
have that handy atm. I cannot reproduce the bug on any of my
workstations so this is indeed a very strange bug and only seems to
affect the laptop so far.

[Bug 191974] [NEW] DVD playback stops at 60%

2008-02-14 Thread buntunub
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

DVD's stop playback regardless of media player used at ~60% through the
movies. When using Totem it pops an error message about libdvdcss, which
of course is working just fine on my machine. This issue just started
happening to me after the last kernel update.

[Bug 173890] Re: flashplugin-nonfree fails to install... new version?

2007-12-11 Thread buntunub
The build works and the package installs on 64 bit Gutsy, but only works
on the youtube website. It does not seem to work on any other flash
intensive websites such as disney.com, nick.com, etc.

Same here. Random temporary freezes and just 1 hard lock yesturday.
Seems to be a pretty common theme now. Im on an AMD turion x2, nvidia

just froze for 3 seconds while typing this so I grabbed the

[Bug 139990] Re: gutsy: Xorg with two screens crashes

2007-10-07 Thread buntunub
I also can confirm this with an NVIDIA 6150 integrated chipset when
trying to setup dual screens (default=1280x800, and 1280x1024 external
monitor) when using the Gutsy screens and graphics tool with restricted
driver enabled. After X is restarted, both screens dump to highest
resolution specified, 1280x1024. I have only gotten dual screens to work
once by putting the second monitor to "to the bottom" setting. This has
also generated crash reports via apport on multiple occaisions, which I
did upload.
