[Bug 1597517] Re: linux-headers-3.2.0-105 not in precise-security

2016-07-12 Thread c_t
I was able to work around this issue in the preseed.cfg for now by
directly selecting a HWE kernel:

-d-i base-installer/kernel/override-image string linux-server
+d-i base-installer/kernel/override-image string linux-generic-lts-trusty

While this might not be what everyone wants it is a viable workaround
for me at the moment.

This affects me as well when trying to install a new preseeded server.
Are there any plans to bring linux-headers-3.2.0-105 back into the

[Bug 1097224] [NEW] Init script to start multiple instances.

2013-01-08 Thread c_t
Public bug reported:

Inspired by the memcached init script I have written an init script,
that allows for starting multiple instances of redis with different
configs on the same host. This is useful on machines with more than one
core since redis is single-threaded.

See https://gist.github.com/4482825

It should be entirely backwards-compatible.

It would be great to see this functionality in the upstream redis-
package some day.

[Bug 682501] [NEW] php5 5.3.3-1 causing segfaults - 5.3.3-4 backport for maverick?

2010-11-28 Thread c_t
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: php5

With the current php packages in lucid (5.3.2) and maverick (5.3.3-1)
some php applications including e.g. egroupware 1.8 cause php to
segfault. My apache error.log is full of messages like these:

fault (11)
[Sun Nov 28 23:43:19 2010] [notice] child pid 2373 exit signal Segmentation

that most of the segfaults are gone with php 5.3.3-4 from debian

[Bug 589611] Re: client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23)

2010-06-30 Thread c_t
I have now installed

libc6:
  Installiert: 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.2
  Kandidat: 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.2
  Versions-Tabelle:
 *** 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.2 0

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

900 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages
990 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-security/main Packages
 2.11.1-0ubuntu7 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages

But I still get lots of the following errors:
[Wed Jun 30 22:02:17 2010] [error] [client X.X.X.X] request failed: error
reading the headers

The only thing that helps for me is
sudo a2dismod reqtimeout

I haven't tried whether disabling mod_deflate has the same result
however. But updateing the libc to the lucid-proposed version didn't fix
it. (Or is a reboot required?)

mod_reqtimeout could be a reason, since it has been activated according
to apt-listchanges:

apache2 (2.2.15-1) unstable; urgency=low

 * This release adds and enables mod_reqtimeout, which limits the time
Apache waits for a client to send a complete request. This helps to
mitigate against certain denial of service attacks. In case of problems
with slow clients, the timeout values can be adjusted in
/etc/apache2/mods-available/reqtimeout.conf , or the module can be
   disabled with a2dismod reqtimeout.

[Bug 589611] Re: client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23)

2010-06-26 Thread c_t
Any news on this subject? I'm experiencing the same issue since the
upgrade on ubuntu 10.04.

I have seen Bad Request-error pages in Safari 4 and 5 and in the
error-log I get client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname errors
for the corresponding requests.

It is however not reproducible, after reloading the URLs where the Bad
Request-error pages were shown usually the normal content displays.
Sometimes several reload tries are necessary.

Any ideas where further investigations could go?

I have never set up any special BrowserMatch directives, neither before
nor after the upgrade.

Vinicius, just go to http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/trac and scroll
all the way down. There you'll find a download link for the karmic
package which you can download and install via

sudo dpkg -i trac_0.11.5-2ubuntu1_all.deb

This will install the new package the ubuntu-way and in case any updates
will be released later on (after you've upgraded your system to karmic),
apt-get update will do them for you.

[Bug 199165] Re: Automounting removable storage doesn't always honour the utf8 mount option

2008-07-17 Thread c_t
I can confirm this! While it was possible to specify some mount options
depending on the filesystem-type (like iocharset, shortname, etc) for removable
media in KDE 3, I have not found any way to acchieve this in KDE 4 (using KDE
4.1 RC1 at the moment).
This is quite annoying! Mounting through pmount-hal instead of clicking on the
device in the Devices recently plugged in-Widget yields the correct mount
options...

The workaround provided by Roderick Drew works but I absolutely agree with all
others here, that it would be nice to be able to define static dns-servers for
any (W)LAN listet by NetworkManager that take precendence over those sent by
DHCP (ok, this part is already possible). However these settings really should
be kept upon NetworkManager restart!

[Bug 197163] Re: Mathematica renders fonts incorrectly in Hardy

2008-05-05 Thread c_t
hey murphy: I can confirm both of your statements!
1. The not-anti-aliased stuff on the Wolfram-page are gif-images which has
nothing to do with the font-setup!
2. Adding the last match-rule to my ~/.fonts.conf improves things a bit.
However I had the Impression that the old Courier font in gutsy was looking
still a bit nicer than Courier New ... So still I'd love to use anti-aliased
Courier font again in hardy!

Are you shure, this is a mathematica issue? Everything worked just
perfectly until I upgraded from gutsy to hardy (beta)!!!

mathematica -defaultvisual

is a workaround, that's true. But with that switch mathematica will use
the ugly fonts that it used in earlier versions (e.g. 5.2 ) and not the
nicely anti-aliased Courier-font that mathematica 6 was using in gutsy!
Wasn't there any change in Hardy that this could be related to?

[Bug 217166] [NEW] Lid button of Samsung X20 laptop no longer works with kernel 2.6.24

2008-04-14 Thread c_t
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image

I'm currently running Hardy Beta and keeping it up-to-date with dayly
updates. With the new 2.6.24-kernels the lid-button of my Samsung X20
seems to be completely broken. It worked flawlessly with the
2.6.20-kernels from feisty. Since suspend didn't work with the
2.6.22-kernels from gutsy I never used them so I unfortunately can't
tell, whether the lid-button worked there...

cat'ing /proc/acpi/event doesn't show up anything when closing the lid. It does
however show up the right events when pushing the power- or sleepbuttons.
Same thing with the command lshal -m: Correct events for power/sleepbutton,
battery, ac-adapter and so on but nothing for lid button.

Here is what's in /proc/acpi/button/lid:
cat /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID0/*
type:Lid Switch
state: closed

This is the output of /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID0/ directly after a
normal boot without having closed the lid or done anything else with the
laptop!

The kernel-image I'm currently running on is 2.6.24-16.30-generic . I
will attach the dmesg-output. Can I provide any more information?

[Bug 211572] Re: [Hardy] [regresion] resume from suspend (to ram) is not working with kernel 2.6.24-13 and 2.6.24-14

2008-04-14 Thread c_t
I can confirm this bug with Ubuntu 2.6.24-16.30-generic on a Samsung X20
laptop. The workaround mentioned, i.e. putting the line

SUSPEND_MODULES=ehci_hcd

in some file in /etc/pm/config.d/ works, however only when suspending
using the kde-guidance-powermanager applet. It doesn't work when
pressing the sleep button. Probably the sleepbutton-event is still
handled by the old scripts in /etc/acpi ?!?

[Bug 216633] Re: Resume Causes USB Mouse to be Ignored

2008-04-14 Thread c_t
Your problem might be similar to bug #211572 . I had a similar problem
and I could work around it blacklisting the ehci_hcd module. See
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/211572/comments/20
for details.

[Bug 153329] Re: Resume from suspend leads to blank screen with intel driver on Samsung X20 (Intel GM915 Chipset)

2008-04-14 Thread c_t
Oh yeah, it seems like I messed something up. Actually I *do* have
problems suspending with 2.6.24-16-generic unless I blacklist the
ehci_hcd module. Otherwise I sometimes get a blank screen and also my
usb-devices do not work! See bug #211572 for details. So no need to
reopen this bug, since my issue seems to be a different one.

Also my lid-button completely stopped working with the latest kernels,
see bug #217166 . Can you Christopher, as a X20 owner, confirm this?

[Bug 217372] [NEW] [Hardy] Acpi button actions don't seem to be handled by pm-utils yet

2008-04-14 Thread c_t
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

I am using Kubuntu Hardy Beta with the kde-guidance-powermanager applet
for handling suspend/resume/powersaving. It seems that this applet is
using the new pm-utils which I can configure in /etc/pm/config.d/ .
Actually in my case I have to blacklist one module to get things
working.

So now suspending using the kde-guidance-powermanager applet works
perfectly however when I press the Fn+ESC-Key kombo, which triggers the
SLEEPBTN this event still seems to be handled by the old scripts that
are in /etc/acpi . I also have acpid installed and running.

How is all that stuff meant to work? Shouldn't pm-utils take care of
*everything*, including the button-events? Do I even need acpid? What is
it good for? Aren't the acpi-button events processed by hal anyways?

I didn't find any resource where this is clearly described. I would
highly appreciate any help on understanding this. Thanks!

[Bug 153329] Re: Resume from suspend leads to blank screen with i810 driver on Samsung X20 (Intel GM915 Chipset)

2008-02-07 Thread c_t
Suspending from Hardy Alpha-4 LiveCD worked perfectly (actually my laptop
suspended and woke up so fast like I had never seen it before!!).
I haven't tried the acpi_video_flags-thing, but since I'm running fine with
feisty-kernel 2.6.20-16 for the moment I think I can wait for hardy to be
released...

[Bug 153329] Re: Resume from suspend leads to blank screen with i810 driver on Samsung X20 (Intel GM915 Chipset)

2007-11-23 Thread c_t
I also own a Samsung X20 and have the same problems in Kubuntu Gutsy. With the
current 2.6.22-Kernel resume only works from time to time, and if it works
first the harddisk-LED is lit up for some minutes (the computer doesn't
respond, the screen is black) and after a while the pc awakes...
None of the suggested things in here changed anything. I also think it might
not be X-related because I get the same effect, when I suspend my laptop from
the plain commandline (using echo mem /sys/power/state) without any xserver
running!

Has anyone already found out more details? Currently I'm sticking to
feisty's 2.6.20-kernel which works perfectly!

[Bug 154960] Re: Qemu VM fails during startup - Gutsy

2007-10-24 Thread c_t
A similar problem is also described in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/144368 .

I'm also experiencing a similar problem: with qemu 0.9.0 my windows-xp
image stalls with ~100% cpu-usage after the first resolution-change,
i.e. after the text-based windows boot menu and before usually the
windows-logo appears on a black screen with the blue progress-bar.

Reverting to 0.8.2 from feisty solved the problem. I do not get any
messages on the console. How could I provide more information?

[Bug 134317] Samsung X20 suspends again after resume when using FN+ESC-Keykombo

2007-08-23 Thread c_t
Public bug reported:

Whenever I suspend my Samsung X20 Laptop using the FN+ESC-Keycombo
(which is the default-behaviour), and then wake it up using the
Powerbutton, the laptop immediately suspends again. After the second
resume it stays on.

This seems to be related either to acpi-support or gnome-power-manager
and it only happens, when I'm under KDE with Power-Manager enabled. When
I use Power-Manager Right-Click-Suspend everything works fine. When I
kill Power-Manager and use the Key-Combo everything is fine as well.

The solution from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi-
support/+bug/14718 (re-installing acpi-support) didn't help, neither did
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/28045
.
