[Bug 551563] Re: unetbootin crashed with SIGSEGV in start_thread()

2014-10-08 Thread cariboo907
This bug popped up on 14.10 this morning. I got the error on startup,
why is unetbootin trying to start when first accessing the desktop? I
used it to create a live anti-virus usb device earlier today, and got
the error when restarting Utopic.

You would be much better off seeking help on the Ubuntu Forums:

[Bug 1047092] Re: Mini.iso doesn't load wireless drivers

2012-09-08 Thread cariboo907
It seems the problem is due to a missing firmware directory. In the
regular Live CD there is a directory called /lib/firmware, where all the
firmware files needed for wireless devices are located. In order for
wireless device to work with the mini.iso this needs to be included.

[Bug 1047092] [NEW] Mini.iso doesn't load wireless drivers

2012-09-06 Thread cariboo907
Public bug reported:

Now that the alternate installation iso has been discontinued, the
developers have suggest that the mini.iso/netinst.iso be used to replace
it. THis is a wonderful idea, but the mini/netinst.iso doesn't support
wireless devices. THis affects many of the user base that don't have
access to an ethernet connection.

I tried using the mini.iso to install Quantal with only a known working
wireless device, The install process detected that there was a wireless
device plugged in, but not the make/model, so no drivers were loaded.
THe device works well running Quantal this is the output of sudo lshw -C
network:

*-network
   description: Wireless interface
   physical id: 1
   bus info: usb@1:7
   logical name: wlan0
   serial: 00:02:72:62:80:68
   capabilities: ethernet physical wireless
   configuration: broadcast=yes driver=zd1211rw
driverversion=3.5.0-13-generic firmware=4725 ip=192.168.0.22 link=yes
multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11bg

and the output of lsusb:

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0ace:1215 ZyDAS ZD1211B 802.11g

Is there a way to gather any information about hardware detection and
driver loading when running the mini.iso?

To reproduce the problem:

1. plug a usb wireless device in to a usb port
2. boot from the mini.iso
3. At the network setup screen select the wireless device from the list
4 enter the ESSID when asked
5. select wpa from the encryption type screen
6. enter the wpa password
7 go back to step 4

I can't post any logs, as this is just booting from the mini.iso,
pressing Alt-F2 brings me to a busybox console, pressing Alt-F4 shows
the log output on screen, but there is no way to copy the output to a
working system. I did take a picture of the log output on screen. Hope
this helps.

[Bug 955610] Re: Possible to uncheck unity plugin

There are reasons that Unity does need to be disabled, I see no need to
remove the one option to do it. Read the rest of the thread on the
forums Jorge.

[Bug 897786] Re: Kernel is dropping non-PAE flavour

2012-02-08 Thread cariboo907
BubbaJ, the mini.iso is just a very basic installer, there is just
enough there to start the installation and make a network connection,
from there you have to choose almost everything, from the mirror to use,
to what packages you want to install. So basically at this point you are
out of luck if you want to install on a non-pae system.

booted with an SD card inserted, with the SD card removed the system

[Bug 905606] Re: Kernel panic on Atom 270 * Intel 945 chipset

2012-01-13 Thread cariboo907
I installed it this morning, and added intel_iommu=off as suggested in
the Phoronix post:

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_itempx=MTAzNzk

It looked like it worked, as my system ran for about 15 minutes without
panicking, but as soon as I inserted a usb wireless device it crashed
almost immediately. On a subsequent restart, the system panicked within
a couple of minutes of loading the desktop.

Changed to confirmed again.

[Bug 905606] [NEW] Kernel panic on Atom 270 * Intel 945 chipset

attached file. The system is running Precise from the daily live image
dated 15/12/2011, then updated to the latest kernel today (16/12/2011).

[Bug 813891] [NEW] Modal dialog boxes unclickable

2011-07-20 Thread cariboo907
Public bug reported:

When trying to delete a torrent running qBittorrent, the dialog box
becomes unclickable. Nortmally the dialog box is in the center of the 4
workspaces, and the OK and Cancel buttons can be clicked, but this time
the dialog box kept moving to a different workspace whenever one of the
buttons were click. I also couldn't grab the window with the mouse and
move it to a position where it was clickable.

Turning the modal dialog off in compizconfig-settings-manager fixed the
problem.

to recreate the problem, make sure modal dialogs are enabled, then:

1. download a torrent using qBittorrent
2. click the pause button
3. click the minus button in the qBittorrent window.
4. Try to click the OK or Cancel button

I've also attached a screenshot, to show what I was dealing with.
