[Bug 1179345] Re: package samba4 4.0.0~alpha18.dfsg1-4ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 988509 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988509 I had installed the alpha version of samba4 some time ago, and during the 12.04 LTS upgrade I had these errors. I re-installed samba4 from the git repo following this guide http://www.jadota.com/2013/01/installing-samba4-on-ubuntu-12-04/ and it solved the problem. So I think we can close this bug, it has already been fixed in the main samba repo -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1179345 Title: package samba4 4.0.0~alpha18.dfsg1-4ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+bug/1179345/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 988509] Re: setoption.pl is not executable
I'm confused. I chmod +x the setoption.pl and ran bzr branch lp:~jelmer/ubuntu/precise/samba4/fix-provisioning Output: You have not informed bzr of your Launchpad ID, and you must do this to write to Launchpad or access private data. See bzr help launchpad-login. Most recent Ubuntu Raring version: 4.0.0+dfsg1-1ubuntu1 Packaging branch status: CURRENT Branched 26 revisions. Ok, so I ran apt-get install again. Now I get this error: ImportError: /usr/local/lib/libpytalloc-util.so.2: version `PYTALLOC_UTIL_2.0.6' not found (required by /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/samba/param.so) Can you tell us how to recover from this situation? Should I just completely remove samba4 and start over? Do I use the Ubuntu libraries or the ones attached to this sighting? I can't believe Canonical would go on for a year without fixing a blatant failure to install a popular package on their long term support release...?? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988509 Title: setoption.pl is not executable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+bug/988509/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 988509] Re: setoption.pl is not executable
You probably want to install samba instead. The samba4 package in precise is a pre-release and experimental. The main reason I was interested in samba4 is because it has the active directory which is required by the OpenChange I see a number of how-to's on the web. I guess I will remove everything and try following one of the guides.
