[Bug 1349777] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04 crashes with error path usr/bin/Xorg regularly

2014-07-29 Thread cdoebbler
Public bug reported:

On my i7 2.80 GH, 8 GB RAM HP desktop tower, Ubuntu 14.04 has crashed
regularly, roughly every 10 minutes, and on reboot gives several
different executable paths starting with Xorg (ie usr7bin/Xorg). This
has happened when I am running in LibreOffice 4.2.1 or even About Me.
Running Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS, Release 14.04.

It happened several ties while running LibreOfffice, so here is that
programme's info:

LibreOffice
Candidate: 1:4.2.4-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 1:4.2.4-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/universe amd64
Packages

Packages
 1:4.2.3~rc3-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages

I expected the system not to crash. It crashed...repeatedly...six time
until now in last hour.

[Bug 1066308] Re: 0846:9050 Netgear A6200 Wifi USB stick not being recognized

2012-10-30 Thread cdoebbler
Dear Christopher,

Please note that this was originally field on a Compaq HP Mini 100c-
1110ez running Ubuntu 12.04, but the last testing was done on my
desktop (i7-2.6 HP 7100 with 8GB RAM) which exhibited exactly the same
symptoms.

Answers to your questions on HP 7100 are below:

cdoebbler, thank you for testing the requested mainline kernel. Please
answer the following four questions:

1) What is your full computer model (ex. Compaq Mini 110c-1100DX PC)?

port in back of machine using extender cord that came with A6200 and

2) Could you please plug the Netgear USB device in, unplug all other USB

2012-10-30 Thread cdoebbler
Dear Christopher,

Please note that this was originally field on a Compaq HP Mini 100c-1110ez
running Ubuntu 12.04, but the last testing was done on my desktop (i7-2.6
HP 7100 with 8GB RAM) which exhibited exactly the same symptoms.

Answers to your questions on HP 7100 are below:

On Tue, Oct 30, 2012 at 6:03 PM, Christopher M. Penalver
christopher.m.penal...@gmail.com wrote:

cdoebbler, thank you for testing the requested mainline kernel. Please
 answer the following four questions:

 1) What is your full computer model (ex. Compaq Mini 110c-1100DX PC)?

HP7100, running on i7 chip at 2.6 with 8GB RAM. Testing A6200 in USB 2 port
in back of machine using extender cord that came with A6200 and directly in
USB port.

 2) Could you please plug the Netgear USB device in, unplug all other USB
devices, execute the following in a terminal, and post the results to this
 report:
 lsusb -v

Here are the quite long resultsof course I could not unplug keyboard
and Mouse whic are USb driven.

cdoebbler, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could
you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in
the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested
the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you
 tested and remove the tag:
 needs-upstream-testing

This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag
located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the text:
 needs-upstream-testing

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
 kernel-fixed-upstream
 kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
 kernel-bug-exists-upstream
 kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
 kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
 kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1003803] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 crashes at irregular intervals

2012-05-24 Thread cdoebbler
Public bug reported:

I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 from 11.10 about a week ago and have been
experiencing crashes for no reason that reset to login screen.

I have a i7 2.4 GHz HP Elite tower with 8 GB RAM and am using a Acer
AL1715 monitor and two 1 TB HDs.

Sometimes the crashes happen when I am using graphics programs like
Google Maps in Chrome, but sometimes just suddenly without warning when
I am using LibreOfffice Writer or Cal or Adobe pdf or Skype...in other
words without just about any programme. I leave the computer on all the
time and it does appear to crash when it is idle. I don't think there
is a exact tiem between crashes but they seem to happen about every two
or three hours.

[Bug 149435] Re: Update Manager freezes when clicking install updates after having cancelled root password insertion

2008-06-06 Thread cdoebbler
I also have a similar issue...

When the update-notifier tells me updates are available, I click the
notifier icon in the panel, and the update manager starts, but the root
password prompt never appears. The update manager just sits there
waiting, with a busy mouse pointer if I hover over it.

To get the update to happen, I have to use sudo apt-get update and sudo
apt-get upgrade and then not all the updates/grades are carried out.
Linux-generic, linux-headers2.6.24-18, linux-headers2.6.24-18-generic,
etc (11 in total)...all keep coming up again as not having been
installed.

I have tried well over three dozens times over a period of two months
without success to do a full upgrade. This seems to be a serious error
in Ubuntu Hardy Heron - released in April 2008.
