[Bug 1348337] [NEW] Software update window locks up configuring grub-pc
Public bug reported: This is scary because grub is used to boot Windows 7 as well. Update-manager window locks up and turns gray. [Bug 1310056] Re: unity-tweak-tool cant move window buttons to the right in 14.04
In the time since I reported this bug I have come to suspect that it is a design flaw in the Unity interface as implemented in 14.04. The flaw is this: there are no enforced standards for what appears where in a window title bar, resulting in the inability to move the control boxes in the more rebellious windows. It appears that Canonical's solution to this is to disable the capability rather than tighten up the window title bar standards. Another factor that dashes hope for fixing this issue is what appears to be an utter fascination by Canonical's leadership with unconventional ideas. That's great for innovation, but is rank poison for an end user production environment. Consider the chaos that would result if some automotive manufacturers violated conventional practice by transposing the gas and brake pedals just because it could be done and then refused to allow the driver to set up the more customary pedal arrangement. Are needless changes like this advancements, or are they just putting metric monkey wrenches into the toolbox of life? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1310056 Title: unity-tweak-tool cant move window buttons to the right in 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-tweak-tool/+bug/1310056/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1340466] [NEW] clicking on launcher trashes screen and hangs system
Public bug reported: clicking on any icon in the icon bar on the left of the screen works, except for the top button. [Bug 1323848] [NEW] Audacity hangs resizing its window
Public bug reported: This problem occurred when running Audacity 2.0.5 for Ubuntu 14.04 in a VirtualBox 4.3.12 VM hosted by Windows 8.1. While this Ubuntu window was locked up I loaded the wave file that was involved in the problem into Audacity 2.0.5 for Windows and everything behaved flawlessly. [Bug 1314669] Re: truecrypt app is listed but does not exist
** Description changed: Installing Truecrypt only installs a link to a wikipedia article about truecrypt. This means that there is no cross platform functionality as was intended by the truecrypt builders. My only interest in truecrypt is to open and update a truecrypt volume, which is just a data file, not an encrypted disk partition. The Windows version of truecrypt has always handled this flawlessly and is one fine app. Since I always run Ubuntu in a VM hosted by Windows this bug is only an inconvenience, but would be a serious functionality killer for a Ubuntu only user needing to work with a truecrypt file. + + Note below that the distro I installed uses the software center version + for Ubuntu 13.10, not 14.04. I did not allow the installer to change grub's menu.lst file and this error was the result. Changing menu.lst is pure hell in Ubuntu, and I will not use any form of Linux unless I can make Windows 7 is the default boot option. Editing menu.lst to make that happen is idiot simple, but try and save your changes when Ubuntu is hell bent on denying you root privileges! -- package linux-image-2.6.28-13-generic 2.6.28-13.44 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/386042 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
